Mr. and Mrs. Herdman have five sons: Amos, Herman and Squire, on farms near Elimville; Clayton, in Toronto, and Carman, Detroit; two daughters, Beulah, Mrs. Hilsen Whitford, Ingersoll, and Florence, Mrs. William Brad- shaw, Seaforth, and six grand- children. The couple were married on October 30, 1907, by Rev. Hugh Fair, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Squire, concession 10, Usborne. The bride was the former Annie Squire. They farmed near Elimville un- til moving to Exeter nine years ago. They were members of Elimville United Church until they moved to Exeter, which time they joined with Main Street United Church, 41111111. Mrs. Lydia, Doig and Miss, Janet Doig entertained some friends on Hallowe'en night in honor of Janet's birthday. She received many beautiful gifts including money and a lovely birthday cake was sent her. Mrs. Doig and her daughter intend leaving soon for Grand Rap- ids, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Mellis spent the weekend in St. Thomas with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hut- chison. Newly -Weds Honored On Wednesday, October 30, a reception and dance was given in Hensall town hall for Mr. and Mrs. Ken McLellan, nee Merle Dickert. An address was read by Jinl. McGregor and a purse of money presented by Lloyd Cooper. The groom thanked everyone. Norris orchestra supplied thnl music for dancing. A delicious lunch w asserved to the large crowd in attendance. HOMEMAKING CLUB LEADERS ATTEND TW -DAY CONFERENCE Twenty-six Girls' Homemaking Club leaders from South Huron at- tended a two-day course conduct- ed at Clinton by Miss Shirley Pat- terson, new home economist for Huron County. The course prepared the club leaders to conduct this winter's project, "Working With Wool." They were taught the construc- tion details of making a wool skirt, also the proper pressing technique, the care of wool, and SO on. Clarence Trott Heads Teachers In District 15A Clarence Trott, Clinton, and for- mer Egmondville teacher, heads the list of officers of District 15A Ontario Public School Men Teach- ers' Federation for 19157-58. He was declared president ata meeting of the federation in Seaforth. Vice-presidents are Tom Wilcox, Stratford, and Duncan McKay, Au- burn. Seaforth Public School Prin- cipal, John Talbot, holds the job of secretary -treasurer for the en- suing term. Past president is Ed- ward Little, St. Marys.
