Pierced By Lever,
Drives Half Mile
A Hensall district farmer, Ben
Case, is in fair condition in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London, with
serious internal injuries which he
received late Saturday afternoon
when the lever of a farm imple-
ment, with which he was working,
pierced his back on a farm four
miles east of Hensall.
Mr. Case was working on the
farm of Grant Ryckman, his fath-
er-in-law, when the accident oc-
curred. He was disking in the field
and backed up the tractor to hitch
on to the one-way disc when the
lever penetrated his body.
The injured man drove over a
half mile over rough plowed fields
to the farm. of Joseph Ferguson,
where Russell Ferguson carried
him into the house. He was un-
able to move or speak at the time.
He was rushed by Bonthron am-
bulance, accompanied by Dr. J.
C. Goddard, to the hospital.
It is just 20 years ago that Mr.
Case fractured his neck in an ac-
cident.
