The regular/Meeting Qf Group 4
of the WA of Northside United
Church was held Titeaday evening
at the hotne of Mrs. Peter Chi -
tensest with 14 members and three
-eisitoes present Mrs. Marshall
opened the meeting with a hymn,
which was follewed by a prayer
and the scripture reading. A read-
ing entitled, "Whosoever"., was
given. A fern brought by Mrs. I.
Hudson was sold.
Members were reminded of the
coming to Seaforth of Rev. •Mr.
Joyce for one week, and were
urged to attend the meetings in
the various churches.
Miss R. Fennell was the guest
speaker and gave a very interest-
ing account of her recent visit to

ST. THOMAS WA MEETS
The September meeting of St.
Thomas' Church:WA was held last
Tuesday in the parish hall. Nine
members were present.
'Mrs. George MeGavin, the presi-
dent, opened the meeting with the
910st Psalm, followed by prayers
for the parish, for pray partners
and the Lord's Prayer in unison.
Mrs. James read and discussed
the final chapter of the study book,
"East of Burma."
In the absence of Mrs. W.
O'Shea, Mrs. Southgate read the
minutes of the previous meeting,
also an interesting letter from the
Cardston Boys' Sclieol, acknoWl-
edging the yearly shipment, with
an account of the progress made
there.
Mrs. Case reported on her so-
cial service work. The treasurer's
report showed a substantial bal-
ance, and talent money was re-
ceived. Mrs. Spittal reported on
the work done by the Junior Aux.
iliary, three of her group having
won awards—Diane Free, Darlene
Sills and Wendy Moore. The Girls'
Auxiliary will resume their meet-
ings with their leader, Mrs. James.
After the dedication of the offer-
tory, the meeting was closed with
the benediction.

famous person I have always ad-
mired."
Rev. C. D. Daniel, Hensall, will
be guest speaker. The motto, "In
youth we learn, in age we under-
stand," will be given. Mrs. Ar-
thur Varley will give a poem, and
Mrs. Eldon Jarrott is in charge of
the music. The history of the Jar-
rott farm will be given.

The new nurse was taking over
at a military hospital, and asked
the other nurse, "Anything special
that I ought to know?"
"Yes," replied the first nurse.
"The beds at this side are the dan-
gerous cases. They're almost
well!"
A .soldier went to see his M.O.
about a pain in his back which had
been troubling him since morning.
The doctor gave him the once-over
and in a second the pain vanished.
The taller was overjoyed and said:
"That's quick work, doctor. Was it
rheumatism?"
"No," was the reply. "Your
braces were twisted."
