On New Year's Day
Mr. and Mrs. James Dale, life-
long residents of Constance, quiet-
ly observed their 55th wedding an-
niversary on New Year's Day. Mr
and Mrs. Dale were united in mar-
riage at the McKillop parsonage
by the late Rev. Peter Musgrove
Mrs, Dale is the former Mary
Dodds, daughter of the late James
and Elizabeth Dodds, McKillop
Mr. Dale is the son of the late
Rosanne and Christopher Dale.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale have lived on
the Dale homestead since their
marriage, and it is now operated
by their son, William. They have
four of a family: Verne, Arnold,
(Thelma) Mrs. Bronley, Kitchener,
and William. They also have 12
grandchildren and one great-grand-
child.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale both enjoy
good health and enjoy television
and are interested in local affairs
of the community. Best wishes go
out to Mr. and Mrs. Dale on their
55th wedding anniversary.

ROBERT ROSS FORBES
An educationalist for the past 43
years, Robert Ross Forbes died in
Ottawa Hospital Monday, Dec. 24.
He was 61.
Principal of Lady Evelyn St.
School, Wellington St. School, and
for the past eight years principal
of Cambridge School, he received
his early education in Seaforth and
graduated from Stratford Normal
School. At the S.C.I. he was ac-
tive in the Cadet Corps, serving
with, among others, Joseph Sills,
Murray Fisher, George Stephenson
and W. G. Strong. Ile was a veter-
an of World War 'I, serving in the
Air Force. For a time he played
hockey with• Stratford Juniors.
Mr. Forbes won the Curtis
Memorial Scholarship in 1931 from
Queen's University when he gradu-
ated with honors in science. He
was a member of the Ottawa South
Philharmonic Orchestra, and en-
joyed active outdoors sports. He
won many tennis championships
while at Queen's.
Past Master of the Builders
Lodge, A.F. and A.M., he was al-
so a member of the Ottawa Lodge
of Perfection and the Murray
Chapter of Rose CroiX.
Mr. Forbes was born in Roxboro,
the son of Arthur Forbes and Mary
McAllister, both deceased. He
moved with his family to Seaforth
as a child when his father pur-
chased and operated a livery
stable here. He married Erna
Margaret Huff at Preston, August
11, 1923. She survives along with
a Son, Robert Arthur Forbes, of
Ottawa, and two granddaughters,
Carol and Margaret, A sister,
Mrs. C il Russ, of Hamilton, also
survive

Mr. Frank Kelly passed away in
Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth,
on Monday morning, following an
illness of two weeks' duration. Sur-
viving is one sister, Hannah, of
Manitoba. The funeral was held
Wednesday afternoon from .the
Rano funeral home, Brussels.

ited over the weekend with his

On Thursday evening the Burns-
Londesboro Y.P.U. held a social
in the Sunday school room of the
Londesboro church with. around 40
young people in attendance" The
evening was started off with a pot
luck supper, followed by a wor-
ship service in charge of the re-
creation and culture convener, Ken
Scott. Recreation followed this
and the meeting was closed with
"Taps."

on Sunday, evening with Mr. and
Mrs. William Rogerson and 'Joan,

ing the funeral of their niece, Miss
Aldea Aubin.

Samuel Christian Hey
Samuel Christian Hey, 69, who
died at his home at Blake on Wed-
nesday evening, Dec. 26, lived in
Blake for 43 years and had a black-
smith shop until retiring in 1951.
His early life was spent in Hay
Township. He was of a jolly nature
and will be much missed in the
community. He also loved horses
and took a great interest in horse-
racing, and hardly ever missed a
race meet.
Surviving besides his loving wife,
the former Mary Jane Meyers, are
one son, Victor, of Goderich; five
daughters, Mrs. Charles Meyer,
Jr (Jean), of Wilton Grove; Mrs.
Clifford Donovan (Mildred), Lon-
don; Mrs. James Burdge (Kath-
leen), Cobourg; Mrs. Elva Younge,
Hamilton; Mrs. Archie Mustard
(Norma), Brucefield; one brother,
William Hey, and two sisters, Mrs.
Phillip Fassold and Mrs. Edward
Stack, all of Dashwood, and eight
grandchildren.
The body rested at the Westlake
funeral home in Zurich until Sat-
urday, then at the Evangelical U.
B. Church, where services were
conducted at 2 p,m. by the Rev,
A. Amacher. - Mrs, Milton Desch
and Mrs. Alvin Rader sang a duet,
"Beyond the Sunset " accompan-
ied by Mrs. (Rev.) Amacher at
the piano, Interment was made
in the Bronson Line U.B. Ceme-
tery. The pallbearers were Newell
Geiger, Clemens Jeffery, David
Desch, Earl Oesch and Amos Gin-
gerich, all of Blake, and Arthur
