New Brown- ies enrolled were: Linda Mock, Ann Sawyer, Ann Mickle, Sharon Riley, Carol Reichert, and Lois Simmons, Highlights - were two Brownies who had carmnletg j • their Brownie work and had earned their Brown-. ie Wings, Elaine Keys and Patsy Schwalm, Guide awards were presented to Jean Kerslake, Owen Spencer, Jane Horton; the latter two received their first-class Guide Badge. Mrs, Carl Payne was enrolled as a Tawny Owl; Mrs. T. Lavender, who acted as Captain of the Girl Guides. received her camping lic- ense, and Mrs. Earl Rowe, Brown- ie Owl, received her warrant as a Guider. Newlyweds Honored A reception for Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Parker was held in . the Town Hall Wednesday evening with a large crowd attending, Len Clark read the presentation ad- dress and Jack Upshall presented the couple with a purse of money. COLUMBAN.—White, yellow and pink chrysanthemums decor- ated the altars of the Church of Our Lady, Guelph, on Saturday morning for the wedding of Miss Margaret O'Sullivan, Guelph, and Donald Whitton, Guelph. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Teresa O'Sullivan, St. Columban, and the late James O'Sullivan, The bride- groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Whitton, Toronto, Rev. Father Noonan performed the double -ring ceremony and sang the Nuptial Mass. The• soloist was Miss Col- leen O'Sullivan, Guelph. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, James O'Sullivan, St. Columban, wore a blue cocktail - length dress with blue feathered hat and matching gloves. She carried a nosegay of white carna- tions. Miss Mary O'Sullivan, London, was her sister's bridesmaid, wear- ing a cocktail -length dress of can- ary cream, with pink hat and gloves and carrying a nosegay of pink carnations. The best man was John Downey, Kitchener, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. A wedding dinner was served at Candy's tea room, followed by a reception. Receiving guests, the bride's mother wore a blue crepe dress with ,,pink hat and pink ac- cessories, and a cdrsage of white carnations. Assisting her, the bridegroom's mother wore a grey taffeta dress with black accessor- ies and a corsage of white carna- , tions. For travelling, the bride chang- ed to a blue dress with pink ac- cessories and wore a corsage of white carnations. Two hundred and thirty-seven pigs and 60 head of cattle and calves were sold. There was a keen demand for pigs. FARM NEWS -OF HURON With snow falling on several days last week, Huron County is now in the throes of winter. Coun- ty and township snowplows have been out; some farm lanes are al- ready impassable. Township nomination meetings held to date have been for the most part poorly attended. On the other hand, over 200 farmer; attended the annual meeting of the Huron County %Federation of Agriculture, held last Wednesday. Here's a recipe for Garlic Cheese Dip that's good to serve with crisp toast fingers, celery and carrot stocls. potato chips or assorted crac tern. Simply cream one four - ounce package of cream cheese with two tablespoons of mayon- naise. Adel two small cloves of garlic, finely chopped, and two tablespoons of finely chopped pars- ley. Mrs. Carmen Cann was hostess and assistant hostesses were Mrs. Wm, Kernick_, Mrs. Stanley Mit- chell, Mrs. Bev. Morgan, Mrs. Richard Etherington, and Mrs. Williatm Lamport. Grand Bend and Kippen W.I.'s were special guests. The motto presented was, "Edu- cation without action is futile, but action without education is fatal." Current events were reviewed by Mrs. Garnet Hicks. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ince, of Exeter, showed colored slides on P.E.I., a trip they took last summer, and the former home of .Mr, Ince...It's Canada's smallest province. The pictures were veryinteresting. n eresting. Mrs, Arthur Rundle reported on the county rally at Cranbrook, and Mrs. Garnet Hicks on the district annual held at Hensall. Nurhbers on the program included readings by Mrs. Wm. Sillery and Mrs. Hamilton, Grand Bend; instrumen- tals by Mrs. Bruce McGregor, of Kippen, Mildred Ballantyne and Agnes Bray. The December meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Arthur trundle on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 2:00 pm.
