Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gingerich'
and daughter, Norma, spent the
weekend visiting relatives at Wa-
terloo. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gin-
gerich, who spent a few days there,
returned home with them.

family spent Sunday with rela-
tives at Ripley and Kincardine.
Mrs. Lawrence Regier spent a
few days at Buffalo, New York.
Mrs. Guston Bon is still in Vic-
toria Hospital, London. Her many
friends hope she'Il soon be return-
ing home.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Baechert and
baby daughter were in London re-
cently.
Mr. Vernon Desch wears a broad
smile these days. A baby boy ar-
rived for him and Mrs. Desch in
Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth,
on Thursday, Nov. 8. Congratula-
tions!

York, spent the weekend at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Smith

a week with Mr. and Mrs. James
Adams. near Owen Sound.
There will be a Variety Night
in Cavan Church on Friday of next
week. Mrs. Nelson Reid will show
slides, and there will be interest-
ing numbers on the program.
Mr, Earl McSpadden was in To-
ronto last week attending the On-
tario Federation of Agriculture
convention. While staying at the
King Edward Totel, it was evacu-
ated at 4 a.m. when a section of
the hotel was on fire.
A concert will be held in Cavan
Church on Friday evening, Nov. 16,
to celebrate the 40th birthday of
C.G.I.T. nationally. The Walton
group will be guests. The occa-
sion is open to everyone and it is
hoped for a large attendance of
parents. The girls will try to pre-
sent a history of C.G.I.T., model-
ling the various uniforms and
camp `togs' from 1916. The sen-
ior girls will be presented with
lanyards.
To Present Pageant
The regular meeting of the Help-
ing Hand Mission Band was held
at the church with 18 present. The
theme of the worship was "Prais-
ing God With Music," Psalm 150
was read. The offering was re-
ceived by Miles Little. It was de-
cided to send $10 to the Fred Vic-
tor Mission in Toronto to help
buy clothing ,for needy children.
The Band rehearsed a brief page-
ant which will be presented at the
Sunday School Christmas concert
in December. Hymn 585, "Father,
We Thank Thee," ,and the Mizpah
benediction closed the meeting.

Mrs, Melva Bickel!. of Peterboro,
is spending a week with her sis-
ter, Mrs. C. D. Daniel at the manse.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McArthur and

At the regular meeting of Am-
ber Rebekah Lodge held Wednes-
day evening, presided over by the
Noble Grand. Mrs. S. Rannie, plans
were outlined for the entertaining
of the Assembly Warden and Dis-
trict Deputy President, on Wednes-
day. Nov. 21. Edelweiss Lodge of
Seaforth will also be special guests,
A penny sale will be held and mem-
bers are asked to bring articles

The Friendly Few Farm Forum
met Monday evening at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lawson. The
discussion period was on Farm
Management. The members decid-
ed the best farm managers were
the farmers themselves, and for
advice they could go to the agri-
cultural representative. If a farm
manager should come into effect
it would mean more cost to the
farmer. Progressive euchre was
enjoyed. Winners were: high, Mrs.
Verne Dale and Frank Riley; low,
Mrs. Wm. Dale and Wilbur Jewitt.
Mrs. F. Riley served lunch. The
next meeting will be at the home
of Mr. and Mrs, Ross MacGregor.

home after spending the past two
months in Winnipeg at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Thos. Craw-

The Men's Club- of First Church,

present-day role of the Air Force
and the part played by Station
Clinton.
The meeting. attended by about
100, including veteran guests, was
in charge of president-elect Robt.
McMillan. Catering was by the
Ladies' Aid.
Urging appreciation of the prob-
lems faced by the Airforce in its
training program, S/L Finlay said
that like in any community, there
were those who evaded their re-
sponsibilities. .

BrucefieId United Church held
their bazaar on Friday. Rev, Mr.
Davison opened the gathering at
3 o'clock, welcoming ladies from
Seaforth, Varna, Egmondville and
Kippen. The various booths were
well patronized, as well as a
friendly cup of tea. Almost $200
was realized from the sale.

the best of health.

EDWARD ARTHUR MCMI /LAN
Funeral services for Edward Ar-
thur McMillan, lot 4, con. 9, Morris
Township, were conducted by Rev,
D. J. Lane oil Saturday, Nov. 10,
at 2 p.m., in the Tasker Memorial
Chapel, Queen St., Blyth. Inter-
ment was in Blyth Union Ceme-
tery.
The late Mr. McMillan was born
June 3, 1882, on the farm on which
he lived, and was a well-known and
respected citizen, always ready to
lend a helping hand.
Surviving besides his widow is
one brother, William, of London,
Ont., also three nieces and two
nephews.
MRS. SOL WILLIAMS
The death occurred in St. Mary's
Hospital, Kitchener, on Monday
following an illness of three days,
of May Bertha Ducharme, widow
of the late Sol Williams, in her
75th year, For many years she
was a resident of Seaforth.
Born in Hay Township, she re-
ceived her early education at Drys-
dale. In 1901 she was married to.
Solomn Williams, who predeceas-
ed her in 1953. Following their
marriage they lived at Hensall,
later moving to Seaforth where,
they resided for 35 years. Upon
Mr. Williams' death she moved to
Kitchener, where most 'of the fam-
ily live.
Surviving are four daughters:
Mrs. Edward (Pearl) Allen, Port
Huron, Mich.; Mrs. G. (Margaret)
Campbell, Sarnia; Mrs. Carl (Rena)
Dietrich, Kitchener; Mrs. W. L.
(Madeline) Hauck, Waterloo; three
sons, William; Kitchener; Jack and
George, Waterloo; one sister, Mrs.
Bernard Hartman, Thedford; two
brothers, Fred Ducharme, of St.
Joseph, and Oscar Ducharme, of

Mrs. Williams, while living in
Seaforth, was a member of St.
James' Roman Catholic Church
and the Catholic Women's League,
and while in Kitchener was a mem-
ber of the Christian Mothers' So-
ciety.
The funeral was held Thursday
morning at 9:30, when the body
was taken from the Box Funeral
Home to St. James' Church for
Requiem High Mass, which was
sung by Rev. E. P. Weber. Burial
was in St. James' Cemetery, the
pallbearers being Joseph Dietrich,
Bert Dietrich, James Allen, Frank
Allen, Donald Williams and James
Williams.
Win Prizes
At Dublin Bazaar
The annual bazaar held in St.
Patrick's parish hall, Dublin, un-
der the auspices of• the Altar So-
ciety, was a success, with all the
booths being emptied of candy,
home -baking, sewing work and
knitted articles.
In the evening a large crowd at-
tended the bingo. Numbers were
called by Gerald Holland and
James J. Krauskopf. The winners
were Mrs. Ted Melady, Mrs, J.
Jordan, Norval Elliott, James
Krauskopf, Mrs. Jack O'Rourke,
Ronald Murray, Mrs. Joseph Dor-
sey, Louis Maloney, Stamford Wat-
son, Mrs. Pat Jordan, Norval El-
liott, Mrs. William Manley, Mrs.
Fergus Horan, Angela Ducharme,
Mrs. Daniel O'Rourke, Frank Skin-
ner, Mrs. Lloyd Elliott and Mrs,
James P. Krauskopf.
Specials were won by James
Krauskopf, Clem Krauskopf and
Joseph Jordan. Winners by tickets
were Ed. Rowland. Toronto; Mrs.
Wm. Stewart, Mrs. Martin Klink-

MRS. EMERSON SMITH
KIPPEN.—The sudden death of
Mrs. Emerson Smith occurred Sat-
urday evening at her home, Lot 21,
Concession 2, Tuckersmith, She
was in her 62nd year, and was the
former Edna Theresa Desjardine,
who was born on the Sauble Line,
between Bayfield and St. Joseph.
After her marriage to Mr. Smith
they lived in Kippen and moved to
their farm 25 years ago. She was
a member of Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Hensall.
Surviving are her husband; three
sons, John, of Kippen; Grant, of
Hensall, and Gerald, of Kitchener;
five daughters, (yune) Mrs. Prank
McCowan, of Brumfield; (Mona)
Mrs. John Norris, of Fullarton;
(Olive) Mrs. Arthur Varley, Sea -
forth; (Marjorie). Mrs. Geo. Var-
ley, Kippen; (Itazel) Mrs. W.
Cleary, Toronto; 15 grandchildren;
one sister, Mrs. Thomas Meyers,
Zurich; one brother, Herb Desjar-

public funeral service was 'held on

Armistic Service in Clan Gregor
Square on Sunday. The Boy
Scouts, Cubs, , Girl Guides and
Brownies preceded the veterans of
World Wars I and II to the Cairn,
where the service was held, and
later marched to the United
Church for the regular morning
service.
Mrs. Cliff Utler was called home
owing to the sudden illness of her
mother.

Marriage vows were •exchanged
on Saturday, October 27, at 9:00
a,m. in the church of Christ the
King at Kilimat, B.C., when Laur-
iane Evelyn, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Francis Kerr, became the
bride of Robert James King, son of
Mrs. Grace King and the late
James King, of Seaforth. Rev.
Father Racette officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, looked charming in a
waltz -length gown of pink taffeta,
scooped neckline with set-in lace
and shoulder -like veil. She car-
ried a bouquet of white carnations.
The bride was attended by Mrs.
Ronald King, who wore a street -
length dress with pink accessor-
ies, and carried a bouquet of pink
carnations.
The groom was attended by his
brother, Ronald King.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs.
Kerr wore a grey dress with blue
accessories, and corsage of red
roses.
A wedding breakfast was held in
the dining room of Kilimat Hotel.
For travelling the bride wore a
navy blue suit with winter white
accessories. On their return they
will reside in Kilimat.
