Compliment Bride -Elect Complimenting Miss Marlene Hunter, bride -elect, whose marriage to Jack Albert 'Adkins, will take place this Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich, Mrs. Wil- mer Adkins, of Cromarty, was host- ess. at her home \Friday evening, when some thirty aunts, uncles and cousins gathered for a presenta- tion in her honor. Marlene was the recipient of many and costly gifts including a table lamp, card table, bedspread, china, linens, etc., presentation address read by Mrs. Orland Reichert and the presenta- tion being made by Mrs. Adkins, Cards and a social hour concluded a delightful evening. Rebekahs Plan • Events At the meeting of Amber Rebek- ah Lodge held Wednesday evening presided over by the Noble Grand, Mrs. S: Rannie, plans were outlined for the apron, bake sale and tea, to be held in the main rooms of the lodge November 10th. A mas- querade Hallowe'en dance is sched- uled for Friday in the town hall. The -latter two events are sponsor- ed .jointly by the IOOF members and the Rebekahs. Members of the Rebekah Lodge are asked to bring donations of candy to the lodge rooms on Wednesday morn- ing: Cards and lunch rounded out the evening. Mrs. Stewart Bell, celebrated her eighth birthday on Thursday by entertaining several of her little. girl friends to a party at her home at Bellerina Farm, west of Hensall. Refreshments were served including a birthday cake Mrs Bell, mother of Pauline, re- calls that eight years ago, when Pauline was born, that there was a very heavy snow storm on that day and that her husband had to have his windshield wiper going all the time on the way to the hospital. Daniel officiated at her funeral held Monday, October 22, from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel, paying fitting tribute to her life. Lunch was served. Complete Four Quilts The Ladies' Aid of Carmel Chur- ch met in the church for their Octo- ber meeting, presided over by the president, Mrs. Malcolm Dougall. Plans were made for the. annual. bazaar and chicken pie supper scheduled to be held in the church December 1st. It was disclosed that the group had completed four quilts wnicn have been sold. Mrs. Clarence Reid, assistant sec- retary reported on get -well cards and flowers sent to sick and shut ins. Mrs. J. E. McEwan gave highlights of a recent trip she took to Pulnico, Nova Scotia, and the lovely places of interest on the trip at Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, up the St. Lawrence River through the states of New York, New Hamp- shire and the Maine mountains. Mrs. McEwan was much enjoyed. Mrs. Orr's group led the devotional.
