(By C. MOYLAN)
Another week has rolled around
and as field day approaches every-
one is in top condition. The boys
are straining every muscle to make
the high jumps and their efforts
are paying off. Instead of hitting
the dirt with the bar falling off, now
they float over the bar and pick
themselves up to try it just a little
higher. The softball teams 'have
speeded up and now double plays
replace errors while the volleyball
teams battle even harder to keep
that ball off the ground. The bas-
ketball team has taken on a smooth
graceful style with well-timed
passes. Gone are the sprained
muscles and stiff joints. On field
day we will see -the results of all
these efforts.
A meeting was held on Friday to
discuss preparations for the YCS
Week which will begin Monday
next. Committees were appointed
as follows: tag committee under
Glenn Butters; song committee
under Marie O'Connor; poster com-
mittee under Rosemary Lane; the
liturgical under Shirley Horan and
Lou, Don and Jack will look after
the bulletin committee. Their
slogan is "All for one, and one for
all" and the theme for this year is
"The Student in His World".
This is a very catching title
which includes a great deal of
meaning. Just what is the Student's
World? They will answer this and
many more questions during YCS
Week.
Our plans are going ahead for
HMS Pinafore. All enjoyed the
first reading and explanation to-
day given by Father Ffoulkes.
Question of the week: Roy, aim-
ez-vous jeunes fines, francoises?
Note: (overheard on the play-
ground), Billy, don't hurt yourself
on that high jump. Wait till field
day!
Comment: Are • his interests in
Billy or the points his side is go-
ing to get on field day?
