Mr. and Mrs. Nethan Phillips
and twin daughters, Ruth and
Rose, of' Jeildo, Mich., spent the
weekend with Mr., and Mrs. Ebert
Faber. They also visited Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Thomson.
Miss Marion Thomson, Clande-
boye, spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Them -

Miss Irma Ropp, of Zurich, is
spending a few days with her
cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Gackstetter.
Infant Baptized
On Sunday afternoon Myron Arn-
old Gackstetter, infant son of Mr.
and Mrs. Arnold Gackstetter, was
baptized at their home by Rev.
Norman McLeod. The day was
also celebrated by the birthday of
the child's grandfather, Mr. John
Gackstetter. of near Dashwood, it
being his 70th birthday. Those at-
tending included: Rev. and Mrs.
N. McLeod, Mr. and Mrs. William
Horney, Exeter; John and Edward
Gackstetter, of near Dashwood;
Mr. and Mrs. ,Elmer Gackstetter,
of near Exeter; Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Gackstetter, Kathryn and
Henry, of near Hensall; Mr. and
Mrs. Nicholas Foster, of Egmond-
ville; Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Foster,.
of Aldershot. A buffet luncheon
was served with a birthday cake
of 70 candles.
Shower For Bride -Elect
On Monday evening the congre-
gation of St. Andrew's United
Church gave a miscellaneous
shower in honor of Miss Gerta
Binnendyk, a bride-to-be of this
coming Saturday. Mrs. Winston
Workman was in charge of the
program, and the evening opened
with a sing -song, followed by con-
tests.
Gerta was asked to be seated in
a prettily decorated chair, over
which a pink and white sprinkling
can was placed. Many beautiful
tulips surrounded the chair. Lit-
tle Joan Sinclair pinned the cor-
sage on Gerta's dress, and the ad-
dress was read by Mrs. Verne Al-
derdice..
The gifts were many and very
useful and were carried in by
Sharon McBride and Margie El-
gie. Gerta thanked everyone and
invited all to her home on Wed-
nesday evening, where a trous-
seau tea was given. Lunch was

With a hymn, after which l!drs. Ar-
thur Alexander read the 27th
,Psalm. Mrs. George Case led in
prayer. Mrs. G. Smith read a poem
and a short meditation. Mrs. S.
Millen, of Bethel, sang, "Waiting
on Jesus," which was followed by
two poems by Mrs, L. Delmage.
Mrs. Murray Dalton of Duff's
played a piano selection.
Mrs. Archie Somerville and Mrs.
Les Pepper received the collection
and Mrs. Neil Bell, Seaforth, sang
"Thanks Be To God," accompan-
ied by Mrs. Peter Dunlop. The
guest speaker, Mrs. R. Watt, of
Mitchell, was introduced by Mrs.
Smith and told of a trip she and
her husband had made to Detroit
where they were guests of Dr. and
Mrs. A. A.. -Banks, a negro fatally.
They were very hind to them and
they lived in luxury. Their anni-
versary services usually last a
week. A vote of thanks was given
by Mrs. W. T. Dodds to Mrs. Watt
and all those who took part in the
meeting. Mrs. R. K. McFarlane
sang a solo, "0 Soul Without a
Saviour." The meeting closed with
a hymn. A delicious lunch was
served in the schoolroom, where
a social half-hour was spent.

an address and Marjorie Turner
presented Gerta with a hammered

morning service the choir made
the presentation of a hammered

that his father had passed away
in his sleep. We extend sym-
pathy to Mr. and Mrs. Har-
greaves.
Mr. George Anderson, Mr. An-
drew Swan, Mr. J. E. Pepper and
Mr. A. Mustard visited at the Har-
greaves' home in St. Thomas on
Sunday.
Miss K. Elliott and Mr. and

-funeral of Mr. Hargreaves on
Monday.
