Mrs. Schell, who was rn her 42nd
year, is survived by jler husband,
three daughters and son son; her
father; five brothers, Alex. Gode-
rich; George, Staffs;,, Jack, Paul
and Mac, at home.
Attending funeral services held
in Detroit Thursday, May 3, were
Mr. Boa and family; Alvin Smale,
Seaforth; Toni and Howard Srtlale,
Hensall, and Mrs. William Hooper,
Exeter, cousins .of the deceased.

Hensall Drives
Aids Cancer Fund •
Final drive of the district can-
cer campaign, already nearing its
first year objective, was staged in
Hensall Friday night by members
of the Hensall Kinsmen Club.
Members ' of the club made a
door-to-door canvass under super-
vision of past president Dr. D. J.
McKelvie, chairman of the service
committee. Dr. McKelvie stated
that $275 was realized.
Mayor R. E. Pooley, Exeter,
campaign chairman, stated that
the drive has passed the $2,000.00
mark, with more returns expected.
Objective this year is $3,000.

HENSALL GROUP SPEAKER URGES
KINDNESS TO NEW CANADIANS
The Women's Missionary Society
of Hensall United Church convened
for their May meeting on Thurs-
day afternoon, when Mrs. A.
Clark's group .was . in, charge of
the devotional, program and study
book. Sacred passages were read
by Mrs, J. Smillie, and prayer of-
fered by Mrs. Wes. Venner. The
offering was taken up by Mrs. A.
Blatchford.
Miss M. Ellis reviewed the sec-
ond chapter of the 'study book,
"Coming Our Way," dealing with
New Canadians or newcomers to
our country. Miss Ellis presented
several statistics and stated how
these people are helped by church
groups to become adjusted to their
new life, and through the churches
and church organizations become
worthwhile citizens, and that a
smile and kindness go a long way
in helping these people to feel they
are really needed.

Pays Tribute
Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary
convened' for the May meeting in
the Legion Hall Tuesday, chaired
by the president. Mrs. E. Davis.
The Auxiliary charter and chairj
were draped in memory of the
late comrade, Letitia Sangster, a
valued and active member, who
recently passed away.
President Mrs. Davis and past
president Mrs. D. J. McKelvie were
appointed delegates to attend the
convention in London in Septem-
ber. The zone rally will be held
in Clinton May 16. and all mem-
bers are asked to meet at the Leg-
ion Hall at 7:20 that evening. A
bake sale will be held in the Leg-
ion rooms Saturday, May 26.
A period of bingo was enjoyed,
in charge of the entertainment
committee. Mrs. L. Baynham and
Mrs. J. Henderson. Luncheon was
served.
Zurich Minister
Goes To Mildmay
Rev. H. E. Roppel, minister
of Evangelical United Brethren
Church, Zurich, for the past nine
years, has been transferred to
Mildmay, where he will minister
at St. Paul's Evangelical U. B.
Church there, and will assume du-
ties about the 15th of May.
A native of Port Elgin, Bruce
County, he attended public and
high school in Bruce and Port El-
gin. Further academic studies
were taken at Albert College in
Belleville, Ont. This was followed
by a graduate course in theology
at the Evangelical Theological
Seminary in Naperville, Ill,, being
graduated and ordained into the
Christian ministry April, 1918. His
first ministerial charge was in To-
ronto. After ministering there for
about four years, he was called to
the Canadian Northwest, where he
spent 12 years in pioneer mission-
ary work in • the Prairie Provinces
of Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Since coming back to Ontario in
1935, Mr. Roppel ministered to
three well known churches, name-
ly: Dashwood, six years; at St.
Jacobs, suburb of Kitchener and
Waterloo, for six years, and Zur-
ich, nine years.
Mr. Roppel is one of the only
two directors for the British and
Foreign Bible Society in Huron
County, president of tate South
Huron Crusade for Christ, repre-
senting all the nine denomination-
al churches in the County of Hur-
on in a united crusade for Christ.
He has also been afiliated with
many other associations.
Mr. Roppel is married and has
one daughter, Hope, wife of the
Rev. T. R. Waugh, minister of the
Marlboro Street United Church of
Canada, in Brantford, Ont.
Mrs. Roppel has always support-
ed her husband most nobly and ef-
ficiently in every way, not only as
queen of the mange,but in the en -
tiro • prrogram of the church aril!

The president, Mrs. G. Arm-
strong, took the chair for the busi-
ness portion, with roll call, min-
utes and correspondence, a n d
thank -you notes read by the secre-
tary, Mrs. H: McMurtrie. Splendid
reports were submitted on the Lon-
don Conference Branch meeting,
held at Goderich April 17 by Mrs.
H. McMurtrie; report of the morn-
ing session of the Huron Presby-
terial, held at James St., Exeter,
by Mrs. T. C. Coates, who also
gave the afternoon session report
for Mrs. C. D. Daniel, who was un-
able to be,present.
The president presented her re-
port on "Christian Stewardship,"
which she gave at the Huron Pres-
byterial, held at Exeter recently.
Mrs. A. Alexander and Mrs. Coates
reported for the visiting commit-
tee, having made twenty calls dur-
ing the past two months. A bale
for European relief will be packed
the third week in ,May, and the
Baby Band party will be held' in r
June,
Following the closing exercises,
a social hour was spent and lunch
served by Mrs. Clark's group.
