The monthly meeting of the
Ladies' Guild of St. Thomas'
Church was held on Tuesday af-
ternoon in the,
parish hall. The
president, Mrs.J. R. Spittal, was in
charge and the meeting opened
with the scripture reading; taken
from the Gospel of St. John, read
by Mrs. J. H. James. The Lord's
Prayer was repeated in unison.
After the business discussion the
collection was received and dedi-
cated. The meeting closed with the
benediction.

propriately decorated in keeping
with the traditions of Ireland.
To open the evening's entertain-
ment, Mary Lou Coye gave a wel-
come recitation and also told "The
Life of St. Patrick," with Gordon
Moylan dressed as the great saint.
The hymn, "Hail, Glorious St.
Patrick," followed. A ehorus,
"When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,"
was then sung by the whole class.
A skit, "To Be An Irishman,"
was done by Patsy Coyne, Betty
Shea, Rose Doyle, Gordon Moylan,
Sharon Burke and Anne Shea.
Recitations were said by Charon

Moylan, ("When I Grow Up"),

Luella Moylan, Billy Murray, Shei-
la Malone and Paul Malone; "Brid-
get's Mistake," Noreen McMullan,

A duet, "Sisters," was sung and
acted by Joan Coyne and Anne
Morris. "Galway Bay," an Irish
song, was sung by Sheila Malone,

With the school choir accom-
pa`ilyung the song, "Put On Your
Old Grey Bonnet," was acted by
Billy Feeney and Sharon Burke.
A solo, "The Old Shillelagh," was
danced and sung by Anne Morris.
All the pupils participated in
Irish square dances, "The Irish
Lilt," "Virginnia Reel" and "Ker-
ry Dance." The choruses, "Dear
Little Shamrock," "If We All Said
a Prayer" and "God Save the
Queen" brought the evening's en-
tertainment to a close.

Mr. Wilfred Mousseau, of Hen-
sall, has been appointed inspector
of Warble Fly for Hay Township,
duties to commence April 2.
Mr. William Henry, who under-
went an operation in Victoria Hos-
pital, London, returned home Sat-
urday.
Carol Brown, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs_ Wm. Brown, won two
seconds in the under 12 section in
piano, with marks of 88 and
at the Stratford Kiwanis Mu Plc
Festival.
Among those receiving honors
from the Toronto Conservatory
were Carolynne Smillie, who pass-
ed grade 5; Margaret Smillie,
grade7, They are daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. CIarence Smillie, of
Hensall.
Mrs. Williams, of Zurich, who
while visiting with her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. Dougall, had the misfortune to
suffer a fall, is very poorly at
South Huron Hospital, • Exeter,
where she 'was taken by am-
bulance.
Twenty-two tables were in play
for the euchre at the Town Hall
Friday evening, sponsored by Kip -
pen Women's Institute. The win-
ners were: ladies, Mrs. J. McLel-
lan; Mrs. Elmer Townsend and
Miss Grace Doig; gents, Gordon
Papple. Allan Tremeer and Wayne
Chappel; lucky lunch prize, Mrs.
Carl McClinchey, Murdoch's orch-
estra provided music for the dance
which followed .the euchre. The
affair was well attended.

Holds Meeting
The Young People of St. An-
drew's Church, Kippen, held a re-
cent meeting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. John Cooper on No. 4
Highway. The president, Bonnie
Kyle, presided, and Pat Lovell read
the minutes. The meeting opened
with a devotional period which in-
cluded hymns, scripture, prayer
and a short talk by Rev. Norman
McLeod. In the business part of
the meeting it was decided to hold
a crokinole party in the Sunday
Schoolroom of the church on Mon-
day, March 19. This party is to be
open to the public. A silver col-
lection will be taken. and every-
body is cordially invited. Wayne
Littleton presented the topic for
the evening on "Keeping Lent" It
was followed by discussion. Harold
Parsons presented games for the
group. after which lunch was serv-
ed. Mr. Lloyd Turner thanked the
hosts. Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper,
for their hospitality, and the meet-
ing closed with the benediction.
Hensall Kinsmen
Hear Zone Report
Hensall Kinsmen Club met at
the Kosy Korner Restaurant last
week for their supper meeting,
presided over by President Bill
Mickle. who gave highlights on the
Zone Conference he attended at
London.
The following members were ap-
pointed as leaders of the 4-H Bean
Club: Clarence McNaughton, Jack
Cornell. Allan Crerar, and John
Thompson. Dr• D. J. McKelvie
was appointed to represent the
club on the recreational circuit.
The budget for the annual bean
festival was drawn up. Films re-
lating to skiing and fishing were
shown, in charge of Jack Drys-
dale. The attendance was 79 per
cent.
