Main St. Seaforth FIRST CHURCH BARBARA KIRKIVIA HEARS R EPORTS, ELECTS EXECUTIVE The annual meeting of the Bar- bara Kirkman was opened with a poem, "Gifts of Little Children," by the president, Mrs. Keith Sharp. Hymn 106 was sung, followed by prayer by Mrs. Sharp. The attendance was received from the group leaders and 23 calls were made to the 'shut-ins. Mrs. Orland Johnston read an in- teresting letter from Margaret Malcolm, telling some of the fine work she and her husband are do- ing on the mission field. Betty Simpson sang a lovely solo, ac- companied by Mrs. M. R. Rennie on the piano. The offering was received by Mrs. Smale and dedi- cated with prayer by Mrs..Sharp. The president called on the var- ious secretaries for their reports, all of which was very encouraging. In the absence of the treasurer, Miss Janet Cluff, Mrs. Mae Dor- ranee read the fine treasurer's re- port. Mrs. R. Kerslake reported 63 members for the Glad Tidings. The Home Helpers' secretary, E. Mrs. Charters, the ways and means sec- retary, reported the 10e a-- week proved successful with the two pot- luck suppers during the year. These reports were moved and seconded- by Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Andrews. The president, Mrs. Sharp, in very appreciative words, thanked everyone who had helped to make this a very successful year. Mrs. J. F. Scott took over the meeting for the election of offi- cers. Mrs. J. A. Patterson read the slate of officers for 19561 presi- dent, Mrs. Keith Sharp; vice-presi- dent, Mrs. E. Andrews; secretary, Mrs. Elmer Rivers; treasurer, Miss Janet Cluff; Literature, Mrs. Dale Nixon; Home Helpers, Mrs. Harold Whyte; press., Mrs. Reg. Rennie: That the nominating report be ac- cepted. Mrs. D. Glenn Campbell then installed the new officers and also thanked Mrs. Sharp for the wonderful leadership she bad giv- en .during the year. Mrs. Sharp continued with a short business period. The Janu- ary meeting will open with a pot- luck supper. The executive will meet early in the year to plan the meetings for the year. Mrs. J. F. Scott came forward and present- ed life membership certificates to Mrs. Robert Charters and Mrs. James Murray, for their faithful- ness and service in the Barbara Kirkman. Mrs. E. Andrews led the meeting for the devotional part, which was taken from the December Glad Tidings, this being a Christ- mas program. The scripture read- ings were taken by Mrs. S. Junior "B" Big Ten group Thursday night, when they defeated the highly -touted Burling- ton Hallidays 2-1. Friday night they played the London Collinson Flyers in London, defeating them 9-6. Ernie Smith scored the ultimate winning goal when he converted a pass from Mason at the 3:10 mark of the second period to give the Hurons a 2-0 lead. George Morelli scored the only Halliday goal on a pass from Oliver at the 16:14 mark of the third period.
