Opens Modern .Sore in Dublin
Most modern of any store in a
village of similar size in
Ontario, a new Red & White Mar-
ket is being opened this week in
Dublin by George Goettler.
The business which is opening
in a new and thoroughly modern
location, is a long established Dub-
lin retail outlet. For many years

owned and operated by the late
David McConnell, who established
it in 1918, the store was later op-
erated by his son, Joseph McCon-
nell. It was sold by him to Mr.
Goettler in 1952.
Mr. Goettler, well known through-
out Western Ontario where be call-
ed on grocery accounts, came
to Dublin from Chatham.
As additional lines were added
and the business grew, it became
necessary to seek enlarged quar-
ters. Arrangements were made to
occupy larger and completely re-
built premises in the well-known
Looby Block. on the west side of
Dublin's Main Street. Here Mr.
Goettler has installed latest style
equipment to enable him to serve
{host efficiently the requirements
of his Dublin and district cus-
tomers.

A feature of the attractive brick °
front store, with its wide expanse
of show window, is the lighting ar-
rangement. Ribbons of flourscent
illuminate the bright interior.
Stocks are displayed on modern
style fixtures, arranged to pro-
vide for maximum convenience of
customers.
The store, 25 x 50 feet, has ex-
tensive storage and unloading
facilities at the rear, as well as
further storage in the basement.
The new store opens Thursday
morning, and special opening ev-
ents will continue for several days,
Mr. Goettler "said. A feature of
the opening occasion will be a
draw for a number of valuable
prizes, in which those who exam-
ine the new premises will partici-
pate.
As a convenience to those in the
district who will wish to visit the
Red & White Market. Mr. Goettler
has arrange for the store to re-
main open on Thursday, Friday
and Saturday nights of this week.
Grocery Razed By Fire
Flames completely gutted the
South Street Grocery operated by
Pete Donat, late Tuesday evening.
Loss is estimated at about $5.000.
Cause of the fire was believed to
have been an overheated stove.
The alarm was raised by Mrs.
Ken Pennington. who noticed the
flames as she drove along South
Street. Members of the Goderich
fire department were unable to
quell the flames in the interior of

To Decorate
For Christmas
is
Details of the Christmas
Decoration Contest, being spon-
sored by the C. of C. in con-
junction with The Huron Ex-
positor, were worked out at a
meeting of the Chamber of
Commerce Friday evening.
President Bruce Gehan was in
charge.
As was the case last year,
the contest will be confined to
residential properties and en-
tries will be received to Dec.
23. Entry blanks will be avail-
able in Seaforth stores, or the
blank appearing on page . of
this issue may be used.
Three cash prizes, totalling
$30, are being donated by the
Chamber of Commerce. The
contest is open to any resident
in Seaforth and immediate
area.
Anyone may enter, and the
houses will be judged during
the Christmas season and the
winners declared. The judges,
to be chosen, will be from oth-
er towns.
