LADIES' GUILD The regular meeting of the Lad- ies' Guild of St. Thomas' Church was held on Tuesday afternoon in the parish hall. In the absence of the president, Miss Dorothy Parke, the meeting was in charge of Mrs. R. J. Spittal. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer, followed with prayers for the parish. After the roll call, the minutes and treasur- er's reports were given. Business was discussed, and the next meet- ing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 2:30 p.m. After the collection was receiv- ed and dedicated, the meeting ad- journed with the benediction. EGMONDVILLE C.G.I.T. The first fall meeting of the C.G. I.T. of Egmondville United Church was held on Tuesday afternoon in the vestry of the church. The meeting opened with the singing of the C.G.I.T. hymn. The roll call was answered by• "My favor- ite name." Election of officers was held as follows: President, Marjorie Mc- Larnon; vice-president, Helen Boyes; secretary, Dorothy Boyes; treasurer, Dorothy Jackson; pian- ist, Faye Blue. A story of "The Two Parables" was read by Mrs, John Boyes and a discussion period followed. Plans for the winter activities were de- cided. The meeting closed with the C.G.I.T. Purpose and the sing- ing of "Taps." Annual Meeting The Young People's Society held their annual meeting on Sunday evening in the basement of the church with Joy Vivian presiding. The scripture lesson was recti by Margaret Walker, followed with prayer by Rev. S. Kerr. WINNIFRED BRYCE, M.A., Ph.D., and Dr. Thomas Hazelwood, of Toronto, will speak at the Stewardship Rally at Northside United Church Monday evening, for the Pres- bytery of Huron. Dr. Bryce has given full-time service as a Missionary and for six years ward Secretary of the National Christian Connell of India. For many years she has been on the Staff of the Indore Chris- tian College, City of Indore, Central India. and 1956 were appointed as fol- lows: Honorary president, Rev. S. Kerr; president, George Vivian; vice-president, Alice Sorsdahl; sec- retary -treasurer, Bob McKellar; assistant secretary -treasurer, Nor- ma Harburn; pianist, Margaret Coleman; social committee, Mar- garet Walker, Joy Vivian, Laverne Wallace and Duncan Scott. Meeting The Women's Missionary Society thankoffering meeting was held on Thursday afternoon in the base- ment of the church. Mrs. Lloyd Sorsdahl presided and opened the meeting with a call to worship. Mrs. Thos. Scott had charge of the devotional period. Mrs. T. L. Scott read an interesting - paper on "Thanksgiving," and also sang a solo. Mrs. Lamond read the Glad Tiding Prayer. Mrs. L. Mitchell, of St. Marys, was -guest speaker, and spoke of ways of living which gave us food for thought. Mrs. Mitchell also sang- a solo. Mrs. Thos. Laing, on behalf of the W. M.S. members, expressed appreci- ation to Mrs. Mitchell for her fine address and music. Lunch was served. Members of the Marion Ritchie Auxiliary were invited guests of this meeting. Miss Betty Bailey, who is tak- ing a special X-ray course in Lon- don, was home with her father, Mr. Joe Bailey, for the holiday. OBITUARIES. G. HARVEY RACHO G. Harvey Racho, 63, of St. Col- umban, tvho died Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, t was born .in McKillop Township, As a young man he engaged in construc- tion work and later became a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Dublin. Surviving besides hiswife, the former Annie Brodhagen, of Mit- chell, are two sons, Douglas W. H., R.R. 2, Dublin; Lyle H., Sea - forth, and one brother, James, of Egmondville. The body rested at the Box Fun- eral Home, Seaforth, where ser- vices were conducted Monday at 2 p.m., by Rev. J. H. James, Sea - forth. Burial was in Maitlandbank cemetery. OWEN HART Owen Hart died in Scott Memor- ial Hospital, Seaforth, on Monday, after an illness of several weeks. He was born in Hibbert Township 82 years ago, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hart. He was a carpenter by trade and also farmed in later years. In 1906 he was married to the former Bridget O'Reilly, who died in 1929. Since his marriage he had resided in St. Columban. Mr. Hart was a member of St. Colum - ban's Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the League of the Sacred Heart. He is survived by two sons, Jos- eph, St. Columban; Frank, Strat- ford; one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Mary) McCarthy, Logan; one sister, Miss Anne Hart, Ingersoll, and six grandchildren. The body rested at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McCarthy, Con. 3, Logan Township. The funeral took place on Thursday morning with Requiem High Mass in St. Colum - ban Church at 9:30 a.m. by Rev. John McCowell. Burial was in St. Columban cemetery. WALTON Mr. and Mrs. George Dundas have returned home after spending a week' with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pickering, Oakville. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Broadfoot and Mrs. Fern Patterson spent the weekend with relatives in Toron- to. Mrs. Carrie Huggard, of Calgary, Alta., and Mrs. Leslie Shaw, of Quebec, are visiting with their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Shannon. Mr. and Mrs. Les Sinko and Charles and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Shannon and Kathy, of Sarnia, were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Shannon. Mr. Gerald Dressel, of Water- ford, spent the weekend at his home in the village. Mr. Douglas Kirkby, of London, visited with his parents, -Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kirkby. Mr. Harold McAll, of Hamilton, spent the weekend with his broth- er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Art McAll. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Rutledge and family, of London, spent sev- eral days with the latter's mother, Mrs. Margaret Humphries. Mr. Frank Dundas, of Toronto, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Dundas. Misses June and Audrey Hack - well spent the weekend in Toronto at the home of Mrs. Mary Gardin- er and Miss Vera Gardiner. Mrs. Ethel Ennis spent several days in Toronto with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Dressel. The following babies were bap- tized during the service in Duff's United Church on Sunday morning: Ronald Richard Sholdice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Graham Sholdice, and Judith Elizabeth Armstrong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Armstrong. The minister, Rev. W. M. Thomas, conducted the service and chose his text from St. John 14, verse 27. The choir sang a Thanksgiving anthem under the leadership of Mrs. Harvey Brown.
