by 707 feet, can be completed 'in
14 hours. Approximately 800 bags
of cement will be used.
Thieves Break'
Drive -1n Theatre
Cigarettes were taken from the
Starlight Drive-in Theatre snack
bar, five miles east of Grand Bend,
last Wednesday night. Police be-
lieve thieves forced the lock on
back door about•2 a.m.
Stolen were five cytons of cig-
arettes, but the money in the till
was left untouched.. Emerson Des-
Jardines, owner of the snack bar,
noticed the break-in when he came
to work in the morning. •

Lose To Exeter
Seaforth Barftams, who have
been recognized , as • the town's
strongest baseball club this sea-
son, were stepped in their .tracks
4-0 by the Exeter Bantams last
Thursday night.
Wayne._.Jessome was the big
threat for the Seaforth crew. The
Seaforth centrefielder had two
solid hits, which brought him
around the sacks'as far as third;
but the rest of the ,local hitting
powerwas not enough to bring
him home.
Exeter's Bub Russell slammed a
homer and double for the visitors.
Bloomaert and Nagel scored the'
other., two Exeter runs.
Don- McClinchey did the hurling
for tliae homesters, while Hunter
pitched the no -score game for Exe-
ter.

attended the funeral of her aunt,
the late Mrs. Patterson, of Toron-
to, 'on Saturday, and visited with
her father, Mr. Robert - Cooper,
during the weekend. Sharon Mc-
Bride and Bonnie Dalrymple ac-
companied her to her home for a
few weeks'.. /holidays.
Anderson Reunion
The thr Anderson fanlilies and
Mrs. Will am Winder, of Kippen,
attended the anual picnic Sunday
,at Pine rove Park, Port Huron.
It was largely attended. Mrs.
Winder accompanied relatives
home to Marlette, Mich., where'
she intends visiting a few weeks.
Loses Right Hand
While Harvesting
While cleaning out a forage har-
vester last Wednesday afternoon,
James Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Ryan, Walton,. had his
right hand caught in the machine
and was' forced to have it ampu-
tated at the wrist.. ,
The 19 -year-old victim had been
helping his father with- the har-
vest. Both 'decided to clean out
the forage harvester, and as soon
as the machine had been cleaned,
Mr. Ryan went back to the trac-
tor to start it. •
"Jim got down to pull more
out of the machine, and his dad
couldn't see him," said Mrs. Ry
an.
With the aid of Mrs: Nelson
Reid, Mr. Ryan immediately rush-
ed his son to Scott Memorial Hos-
pital, Seaforth. Later, James
was taken to St. Joseph's Hospi-
tal, London. where the right hand
was amputated at the wrist.

day of Mr. and Mrs. Ross McGre-

Miss Beulah Wood, of Anderson,
Indiana, is a guest with her wide
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Montgomery.
Mrs. K. .T. Adams and ,Gerald
returned home Friday from a two
months' trip to England,. visiting
with her mother, Mrs. Norden,
and brothers in. Newcastle and rel-
atives at other points.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ross, Detroit,
are visiting the McDonald family
and attending- the Seaforth Reun-
ion.
Mr. James Hill, of Stratford,
spent the weekend with his sister,
Mrs. J.- K. Cornish.
Mr. and Mrs. Don McKenzie and
son spent Civic Holiday with his
parents, Mr. aind Mrs. S. Melten-
zie. •
Mr. Ivan Rainey, of Arnprior,
spent a few days with Mr. and
Mrs. T. A. Dutton. Mr. Rainey
was stationed here with the R.A.F.
about seven years ago. Mrs.
Rainey passed away while they
lived here.
Miss Ethel' Gibson, of Qa1ville,
visited with Kay and Marie Elliott
on Thursday of la§t week.

NOTICE
TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS
Under the provisions of the Weed Control.
Act, section 12, notice is hereby served that after
August Gth, 1955,_ any noxious weeds on , sub-
" -d portions,of the Municipality of the
County of- Huro, in the Province of Ontario,
may be destroyed under the direction of the
County Weed Inspector in any manner he May
deem proper.' The cost of such weed destruction
shall be laid by the owner of the subdivided land
or collected in the same manner as taxes.
Under the provisions of the Weed Control
Act, section 19, every person refusing to obey ally
lawful order of a weed inspector, or ,who inter-
feres with or -obstructs any weed inspector in the:
performance of his duties shall beuilt of an
offense and liable to a penalty of up to $50.00. -
Destroy all noxious weed and weed seeds 011e
your property before August 6th, 1955.
