on a bus trip to Toronto .on Wed-
nesday. The tour included visiting
the Parliament Buildings and a
ride on the subway, 'which was a
treat to all.
Football Hi.ghlight's
The largest crowd of the season
saw Winthrop defeat Drayton 3-1.
Doug Keys started the scoring
when Winthrop was awarded a
penalty kick. Keys added another
to make it 2-0, until H. Stryker
scored for Drayton, making it 2-1.
Lavern Godkin scored late in
the last half to make the final
score 3-1. 'Winthrop has 'one more
game left before the playoffs.

Twenty-two members of the Eve-
ning Auxiliary of the United
Church enjoyed a movie, "Little
Women," at the London Little
Theatre, which concluded with
luncheon at the Knotty Pine Inn,
London.
Bill Ver Beem, son of Mr. and
M-rs. Jack' Ver Beem, of Sarnia,
formerly of. Hensall, was chosen
valedictorian- at the recent gradua-
tion exercises held at Bridgeview
School,
Bayfield Pavilion was the set-
ting Wednesday evening last for a
reception for Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Taylor, of Brucefield, (nee Con-
nie Bell), recent newlyweds. The
pavilion was packed for the affair.
The guests of honor were present-
ed with a purse of money. The
sddress was read -by Ronald Pat-
erson, of Clinton, and presentation
made by Melvin Graham, of Bruce -
field. Norris' orchestra provided
music for the dance.
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle at-
tended the silver tea of Mr, and
Mrs. Keith Hillier, London. The
couple celebrated their 25th wed-
ding anniversary last Wednesday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Glen, Donald
and Barry, Toronto, were week-
end visitors with their aunt, Mrs.
A. Blatchford, who returned home
with them for a visit.
Miss Betty Mickle, B.Sc.N., and
Miss Helen • MacKinley, B.Sc.N.,
daughter of Dr. and Mrs. A. Mac-
Kinley, Sarnia, left last weekend
for the Taylor - Statten Camp, situ-
ated on Canoe Lake in Algonquin,
where they have been employed
as nurses for the Girls' Camp
Wapomeo.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace MacAr-
thur, of • Oshawa, were weekend
guests with Mr. and Mrs. William
Pepper.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gonyou, of
Detroit, spent last Saturday with
Mr. and Mrs. William Pepper.
Rev. W. J. Rogers preached his
farewell message to Chiselhurst
and Hensall congregations Sunday
morning. Both churches were fill-
ed for the occasion. At Chiselhurst
his sermon topic was "The High
Privilege and the Great Reward of
Being a Christian Minister." Spe-
cial music was sung by the -•choirs,
Rev. Rogers, Mrs. Rogers, Carol
Alin and Brenda left Tuesday of
this week for Mr. Rogers' new par-
ish at Lyndtvood, near Port Credit.

Meets 'in Huliett
The regular meeting of the Sea-
forth
eaforth 4-11 Baby Beef Calf Club was
held at the home of Howard Arm-
strong on Tuesday evening. 'The
meeting was opened by repeating
the 4-li (iiub Pledge, and then. the
minutes of the last meeting were
read. The roll call was „answered
,by telling if your calf. was inside
or outside.
Harold Baker, associate agricul-
tural representative, gave ae
demonstration on heel cattle.

were judged, and the official plac-
ing was given by Doug Keys.
A quiz on animal diseases was
conducted, and 'Robert Campbell
introduced the guest speaker, who
was Mr, J. Turnbull.. He answer;
ed the quiz and then spoke on
"Animal Diseases." Donald Moy-
'ian thanked the guest speaker and
Bill Strong thanked Mr. Armstrong
for the use of bis farm and ani-
mals.
Mr, Baker explained about the trip
to Toronto, and the meeting was
adjourned.

Surprise Party For
Departing Family
New Seaforth residents, Mr. and
MIs. Joseph Downey, were honor-
ed by their many Beechwood
friends and neighbors before mov-
ing to Seaforth last week. An ad-
dress was read by John L. Ma-
lone, and a presentation was made
to Mr. and Mrs. Downey of a tri -
light lamp, a coffee table and 'a
hall tree, and to Anne a pen and
pencil set.
, Mr. Maalone's address read:
"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Downey and
Anne: It is with mixed feelings
that we gather here this evening
to bid you farewell and to wish
you many years of happiness in
your new home. Regret is certain-
ly the predominant feeling with
us, as no community can lose such
wonderful' neighbors without- leav-
ing a void which will be next to
impossible to fill. On the other
hand, we rejoice -with you, know-
ing you will be taking a well-de-
served rest. In memory of our
pleasant associations, may we be
allowed to present these small

daughter, Shirley, of Chatham,
were guests over the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Lawson
Cpl. K, T. Adams, who has been
stationed for the past four years at
Centralia, left Tuesday for Win-
nipeg, where he will be stationed.
The Misses Grace Riley and Lor-
raine Smith left Tuesday for Brace -
bridge, where they will spend the
next two months at Camrach
Lodge. They were accompanied
by. Doug Riley and Ross Nelson,
who returned on Wednesday.
Mrs. Edith McFarlane a n d
daughter, Christine, and Mr. and
Mrs. Ron Corrican, Toronto, spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Riley and other relatives.
The Misses Muriel Vale, Mary'
Whyte and 011ie Dundas left Sun-
day for the summer resort of Was-
aga Beach, where, they have se-
cured positions for . the summer
months.
Mrs. Dave Millson had the mis-
fortune to fall at her home Thurs-
day evening, suffering a fractured
arm.
Guests on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Riley 'were: Mr. and
Mrs. James Riley, Phyllis and
Gary, •of Brussels; Mr. and Mrs,
T. J. Riley; Clinton, and Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Riley.
Mrs. Bert Hoggart fell while

Funeral of Robert Parsons
-s Public funeral services were
held on' Thursday afternoon from
Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall,
for the Robert Parsons, a life-
long resident of this district. Ser-
vices were conducted by Rev. W.
J. Rogers, of Hensall United
Church- Interment was ;Dade ill
the family plot in Bayfield ceme-
tery. The pallbearers were grand-
sons: Gerald Parsons, Harold Par-
sons, Bobbie Parsons, Russel Fer-
