the year of 1954, marking the 30th anniversary of the
R.C.A.F., witnessed its continued growth and achievements.
Looking back on the year, the following pictures indicate
some of the activities of Canada's Air Force:
(1) For the first time since R.C.A.F. personnel began ar-
riving on the Continent for duty with the 12 Squadron Air
Division, married quarters became available. These married
quarters, in Zweibrucken, Germany, house some of the mem-
bers of the,SC.A.F. No. 3 Fighter Wing. (2) One of the
164 CanadiarrWlt Sabre jets for Greece and Turkey, part of
Canada's mutual aid program, has the Greek flag painted on
its tail prior to its delivery to that country. On the left, a
Flight Sergeant labels a crate of equipment allotted to Greece
under the same program. (3) One of the six Twin -rotor
11-21A Piasecki helicopters purchased for the R.C.A,F, and to
be used for search and rescue operations, arifiives ht Canada.
(4) More in the public eye was the jet tour of Western Canada
last August. Two airwomen talk to one of the pilots of the
jet cavalcade prior to his departure for Operation "Prairie
Pacific", composed of 15 CF -100 Canucks, F-86 Sabres, and
T-33 Silver Stars. (5) Defence Minister, Ralph Campney han-
dles the controls of an F-86 Sabre jet, at one of the bases for
the R.C.A.F.'s 12 Squadron Air Division, during his visit to
Canada's NATO forces overseas. (6) Air Ir.,arshal C. Roy
Slemon, Chief of the 'Air Staff, greets H.R.H. the Duke of
inburgh on his arrival at Uplands Airport, near Ottawa, on
the occasion of the Duke's tour of Canada. The R.C.A.F.'s
C-5 aircraft, carried H.R.H. to the points of interest on his
tour. (7) The Right Honourable Vincent Massey, Governor
General, cuts the birthday cake at the celebration of the 30th
anniversary of the R.C.A.F., held earlier in the year.

Talks on Wise Men;
Ladies' Aid Meets
The first meeting of the New
Year of the Ladies' •Aid Society
was held in First Presbyterian
Church with Mrs. H. Whyte,
the president, in the chair. Mrs.
H. R. Scott opened the meeting
with a suitable poem, "Another
Year." The reports of the
treasurer and secretary were
read.
Rev. D. Glenn Campbell gave
a very interesting talk on "The
Wise Men," including' the dif-
ferent legends that have grown
up around them in many differ-
ent countries over the centur-
ies. In conclusion, Mr. Campbell
pointed out that we should all
become more like the Wise
Men, following the Star in our
everyday Iivifs.
Mrs. R. R. McKindsey moved
a vote of thanks to Mr. Camp-
bell. A social half-hour was
then enjoyed,•and lunch was
served by the executive.'
