GUIDES SEE COUNCIL IN ACTION
Hensall Girl Guides, twelve
strong, with their leader, Mrs.
T. Lavender, were interested
spectators at the December
meeting of Hensall Council and
were welcomed by Reeve Alvin
Kerslake.
E. R. Davis reported re the
garbage collection as being com-
pleted, catch basins all cleaned
out and the door of the fire hall
painted. J. A. Paterson report-
ed tax arrears were $1,533.21,
or over 96 per cent collected,.
and stated that in the voting
there was a vote of 65.9 per cent
of the eligible voters.
D. McKelvie and W.' Mickle
appeared as delegates from the
Kinsmen Club, asking about the
hall rent that will be- charged
for their shows on Saturday
nights anal stating that all pro-
ceeds were for service work in
the community. Considerable
discussion took place as regards
their request for a lower'rate of
rent.
The clerk was instructed to
prepare a new by-law covering
rents of the hall, stating a fee
for service clubs of the village
holding a show on Saturday
nights of $5.
The reeve was authorized to
proclaim December 27 as Box-
ing Day and a public holiday.
The clerk was told to order two
stop and two No U Turn signs
from the Pedlar People.

Hensel' Community Skating
Club. She will commencedu-
ties at Hensall Saturday,` Dec.

Miss McKenzie started figure
skating at the age of 12 and re-
ceived her amateur training un-
der Otto Gold, of the famous
Ottawa Minto Club where Bar-
bara Ann Scott trained. She
turned professional with the Ice
Capades, touring the large Can-
adian and American cities for
five years.- Miss McKenzie pro-
duced successful skating shows
for the London Skating Club in
