WA Plan Catering
To FA Banquet
The general W.A. meeting of
Northside United' Church was held
Tuesday evening in the church
schoolroom. The devotional period
was taken by Mrs. Knight and Mrs.
Scott, who took as their theme,
"'rhe Work of Our Hands." The
president, Mrs. C. Walden, took
charge of the business and the
members, decided to cater to the
McKillop Branch Farmers' Federa-
tion banquet on October 21. A let-
ter was read from Mrs. Gordon Al-
lison, thanking the ladies for their
financial help to the C.G.I'L'. Plans
for the date of the Christmas ule,et-
ing were left to the executive. The
president then introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Washington, who
gave an informative address on the
work of the W.A. Presbyterial,
whioh is a new venture of the wo-
men of the R.A. Luella Christie
expressed thanks to Mrs. Washing-
ton and a cup of tea and a social
half-hour brought the meeting to a
close.

WILLIAM COATES
Born in Tuckersmith 90 years
ago, William Coates, a pioneer rese
ident in the Melita, Manitoba dis,
trict, passed away at Gainborough
Hospital, on September 23. The
family moved from Tuckersmith to
Leadbury, and about 65 years ago
went west.
ARTHUR WALTER BABCOCK
The sudden death occurred in
Toronto on Friday, Sept. 24, of
Arthur Walter Babcock, husband
of the former Freda L. Webster,
of Seaforth, who survives, togeth-
er with one son, William Lorne
Barbcock. Also surviving are two
sisters, Mrs. John McLeod" and
Mrs. Murdo McLeod, and a brother,
Nelson, all of Toronto. Funeral
services were held in Toronto on
Monday with interment in Prospect
cemetery.
'MRS. ERNEST W. WHITE
Following g lengthy .illn.ess, the
death occurred at her home, East
William St., on Friday, of Margar-
et Mary Murdie,. widow of the late
Ernest W. White. She was a mem-
ber 'of First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. White, who was in her 71st
year, was born in Tuckersmith. Her
husband to whom she was married
in McKillop on October 28; 1908,
predeceased her in 1910. She had
resided in Seaforth since 1921.
Surviving are one son, Gibson.
of London; two daughters, Mrs.
Allan (Margaret) Armitage, of
Guelph, and Ernestine, Reg.N., of
Toronto. She is also survived by

her minister, Rev. D. Glenn Camp.

MRS. MELISSA HUGILL.
Mr.,. Melissa Hugill, wife of the
late Abraham Hugill, died at her
home in Clinton, Sept. 27. She was
born in Morris township, near Bel -
grave, on April 2, 1870, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Lancelot
Tasker, Later she moved with her
family to Hullett township, near
Harlock, where she was united in
marriage to Abraham Hugill and
came to•reside in Tuckersmith, on
the farm where their son. Jona-
than, new resides. She was a mem-
ber of Northside United Church,
Seaforth, until the death of her
husband, when she went to live
with her daughter ('Florence), Mrs
Norman Jones, where she was a
member of Kippen Church. Later
she moved to Clinton, where she
has lived for the past 12 years.
She was a loving and thoughtful
mother, always ready to help oth-
ers to make their lives happier.
She was a great lover of flowers,
taking a great delight in growing
them. She enjoyed the visits with
her pastor, Rev. Wilson, who often
visited with' her. Surviving are one
son, Jonathan, anfl one daughter,
(Florence) Mrs. Norman Jones, of
lfensa.11; one sister. Mrs. Ellen
Hu,ill. Stratford; 14 grandchildren

funeral was held Wednesday after-
noon from Ball & Mutch Funeral

Bid Farewell to

A farewell party in honor of Mr.
Thomas O'Rourke and his daugh-
ter, Miss Pearl, was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
O'Rourke on Thursday,evening. An
address was read by Wilfred
Krauskopf and presentation of a
television chair to Mr. O'Rourke
and a dresser set to Miss Pearl
was made by Jack McCarthy and
Joe Shea. The honored guests
graciously expressed their thanks.
They have left for Dundas, where
they will reside. A social evening
of cards and dancing took place,
and lunch was served by the hos-
tess and her assistants.
Mrs. Dan Costello spent a day in
London.

The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
rhinestone studded white gown
with a fitted bodice. long full skirt
of net over satin with a lace jack-
et. Her fingertip illusioned veil was
held in place by a crown of pearls,
and she carried a bouquet of red
roses.
The maid of honor was Mrs. Stan
Barry, Kitchener. She wore a dress
of dust rose net over taffeta, and
carried a nosegay of pink baby
mums. The bridesmaid, Mrs. Syl-
vester Kelly, London, wore a gown
similar in style to the matron of
honor in lime green over' taffeta,
and carried a nosegay .of yellow
baby mums.
Miss Dianne O'Reilly, Dublin,
nieces of the bride, acted as flower
girl. She wore,a gown of blue taf-
feta, and carried a basket of mixed
flowers.
Mr. Robert Ruston, Seaforth, was
best man, a.nd the ushers were Mr.
Francis Ruston, Seaforth, and Mr.
Stan Barry, Kitchener.
At the reception held at the HilI-
crest Tea Room in Mitchell, the
mother of the bride received wear-
ing a gown of picatine coffee with
matching accessories, and a cor-
sage of red „roses. She.was assist-
ed by the bridegroom's mother,
who wore a' pale blue gown with
navy accessories and a corsage of
red roses.
To travel to the States, the bride
donned a grey dress with navy ac-
cessories and a corsage of red ros-
es. On their return the couple will
reside in Seaforth.
Guests attended the wedding
from London, Sarnia, Kitchener,
Hensall, Dublin and Seaforth.

Walton. Rev, F. G. Balsdon offi-
ciated at the ceremony, which was
performed against a background of
pink and white streamers, white
bells and basket;; of gladioli. chrys
anthemums and, asters. The bride,
who was given in marriage by her
father, wore a floor-Iength gown of
nylon net over white satin. The
strapless bodice was trimmed with
iridescent sequins and seed pearls
and was topped with a jacket of
Chantilly lace featuring lily -point
sleeves and a Victorian collar. A
tiara of sequins and pearls held
her fingertip veil, and her only
jewelry was a rhinestone brooch
and earrings, a gift of the bride-
groom. She carried a cascade of
red roses.
The maid. of honor, Miss Freda
Ashcroft, Preston. wore a pink
strapless ballerina -length gown of
tiered nylon net over taffeta with
a Chantilly lace jacket and mittens.
She wore a feathered headdress,
and carried a bouquet of white
chrysanthemums. The bridesmaid
was Miss Grace Riley, R.R. 2, .Sea -
forth, Over her blue, strapless,
waltz -length gown of tiered nylon
net over taffeta, she wore a match-
ing jacket. Nylon set mittens and
a feathered headdress completed
her ensemble, and she carried a
bouquet of mauve chrysanthemums.
The flower girl, Lois Godirin, a
sister of the bridegroom, was gown-
ed in a full -skirted frock of green
nylon net over taffeta with net mit-
tens and a feathered headdress.
The best man was Mr. Lavern
Godkin, a brother of the ,beide-
groom, and Mr. Kenneth Rodgers,
a brother of the bride, ushered.
The organist, Mrs. A. Bray, Lion's
Head, played traditional wedding
music and accom,panfed the solo-
ist, Miss Elaine Hatt, who sang "0
Perfect Love."
The bride's mother received
wearing a .street -length dress of
green ticatina with gold accessor-
ies and a corsage of yellow roses.
She was assisted' by the bride-
groom's mother, who wore a street
length dress of brown ticatina with
matching accessories and a cor-
sage of yellow roses.
Assisting in serving were Miss
June Hatt, Miss Betty Bray and
Miss Doris Bray, Lion's Head; Mrs.
L. Ashcroft and Miss Verna Hard-
man, Lt•m'berlost. -To travel to ,the
United' States, the bride donned a
dress of smoke -blue satin -back
worsted: fashioned on princess lines'
with .an Empire waist and full
skirt. Her accessories were in
pink and navy. On their return,'
the couple will reside on the bride-
grooni's farm•.

Mr. Robert McGonigle, who suf-
fered a serious heart attack some
weeks ago, is recovering and was
able to attend Seaforth Fair,

home after spending the past four
months at `her summer cottage near

ed on Seaforth friends on Thurs-

Mr. Thomas Murray, of Bar Riv-
er P.O., and Reeve of the Township
of Laird in Algoma, and his wife,
visited with his uncle, Mr. William
Murray, and his aunt, Mrs. Agnes
E. Tyndall, last week. They also
visited Murray Gibson, of Bruce -
field, who is in St. Joseph's Hospi-
tal, London, and his sister, Mary,
who are cousins, and a cousin,
Murray Tyndall, of Brucefield.
Weekend visitors at the home of
Mr. Lorne Dale were Mr. Stanley
Dromisky, student at Western Uni-
versity, and Mr, Murray Harrison,
of Kitchener.

ronto, has returned home after
spending a week with her aunt,
