Obituaries 1
• REV. A. W. BARKER
The Rev. Arthur W. Barker, B.
D., 82, who died at his home in
Highgate Sunday, was born in
Lobo Townsthip, and after graduat-
ing from McGill University at
Montreal, was ordained in 1901.
His 53 years ministry was all in
London Conference of the United
Church, and he served Comber,
Seaforth, Dresden, Kincardine,
Brussels and Windsor, before going
to the Highgate charge as interim
supply for Major the Rev. C. W.
Cline.
Since retirement from the active
ministry he was actively engaged
in supply work, tuntil taken. ill. His
first wife, the former Margaret
Howe, died lu 1924.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Gladys Pollock; a twin broth-
er, Charles, Loudon, and several
nieces and one nephew.
The body rested at the McKellar
and elelntyre Funeral Home,
town, until Tuesday, when services
were held in Highgate United
Church at. 2 p.m. t,

Largely attended funeral services
were held in First Presbyterian
Church Saturday afternoon for
Miss Sara Isabel McLean. Miss
McLean passed away suddenly as
the result of a fall on Thursday
morning of last week,

Mrs. James Taman and daugh-
ter, Lynn. Selfridge Airforce lease,
Michiga+e; are spending two weeks
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. H.
CIose.
Among those who attended the
bell, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Stew-
art sang "Thy Will Be Done" and
Mrs, John A. Cardno was at the
organ.
Miss McLean. who was in her
87th year, was the eldest in the
family of Mvrdo Young McLean
and Jenny Smith. She is .survived
by one brother, John. of Alemeda,
Calif., and by nine nephews and
nieces.
Honorary pallbearers were- J. G.
Mullen, Robert Joynt, D. H. Wf1-
son, John Maloney, M. McDiermid
and W. T. Thompson. Pallbearers
were J. C. Crich, Cir. D. Hale, W. E.
Southgate. M. McKellar, J. A. Stew-
art and F. E. Willis. Interment
followed in the ' family plot in
Maitlandbauk cemetery.

Before an altar adorned• with
multi - colored gladioli in St.
Thomas'' Anglican Church, Sea -
forth, on Saturday afternoon, Anna
Marion McGavin, Reg.N„ became
the bride of Mr. Kenneth Ferguson
McNaught. The bride is the sec-
ond daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
MoGavin, Seaforth, and the bride-
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
H. L. McNaught, Stratford. Rev.
J. H. James officiated at the cere-
mony, and Mr. George Clarke, or-
ganst, accompanied the soloist,
Mrs. Jean Moorehead, Stratford,
cousin of the bridegroom, who
sang "0 Perfect Love" before the
ceremony, and "A Wedding Bene-
diction" during the signing of the
register.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was gowned in ivory
French brocade, with a tightly
molded bodice, featuring a portrait
neckline accented with seed pearls.
The long sleeves ended in lily
points. A full skirt extended into
a chapel train, and her ' elbow -
length veil of nylon tulle was held
by a coronet of French brocade
adorned with seed pearls. She car-
ried a white prayer book cr'isted
with red roses and a sprig of
heather from the Ise of Isley, Scot-
land.
As matron of honor, the bride's
sister, Mrs. Bruce McLean, of Sea -
forth, wore a waltz -length dress of
midnight blue French brocade fea-
turing an Empire waistline and
bouffant skirt. A matching flower-
ed headdress and short pink gloves
completed her costume, and her
flowers were a nosegay of pink and
white baby chrysanthemums,
Ale Lorne McNaught, Toronto,
brother of the bridegroom, was
best man, and Mr. Bruce McLean,
Seaforth, and Mr. J. J. C. John-
ston, Stratford, ushered.
For the reception that followed,
the bride's mother received wear-
ing a navy blue dress with navy
and white accessories. She was as-
sisted by the bridegroom's mother
wearing teal blue with navy and
white accessories A buffet Iunch-
three - tiered cake centred the
bride's table, which was decorated
with pink and white streamers and
tapers.
For a wedding trip to Vermont,
U.S.A., by plane, the bride changed
to a dove -grey worsted flannel suit
with navy and white accessories
and a corsage of white roses. On
their return Mr. and Mrs. Me -
Naught will reside at 3 Hibernia
St, Stratford.

- Bride -Elect Showered
On Friday evening friends and
neighbors gathered in the base-
ment of the church to honor Miss
Donna Taylor, bride -elect of this
week, at a miscellaneous shower.
The program, in charge of Mrs. A'
Paterson and Mrs, N. Baird, con-
sisted of humorous contests, Don-
na was asked to be seated in a
decorated chair and Leola Taylor
read the address, while Irene and
Elaine Taylor presented the gifts
in a gaily decorated wagon. She
was assisted in opening the gifts
by her mother, Mrs. H. Taylor, and
the groom's mother, Mrs. J. Cor-
bett. Donna thanked all for the
beautiful gifts. A social half-ho{er
followed.
The members of Goderich Soft-
ball Team, of which Donna was a
member, recent.ly...had a shower in
her honor.
Mrs. Harvey Taylor was hostess
at a trousseau tea in honor of her
daughter, Miss Donna Taylor, on
Tuesday of this week. During the
afternoon Miss N. Sinclair, Clin-
ton, poured tea, and in the eve-
ning Mrs. J. Corbett .poured. As-
sisting in the afternoon showing
the gifts and linens were Mrs. Mc-
Farlane and Mrs. Bill Taylor. Oth-
ers assisting were Mrs. Vic Taylor,
Mrs. J. Cornish and Mrs. W. Sin-
clair. In the evenipg, Mrs. Jack
Taylor, Mrs, W. Baird, Mrs. W.
Caldwell and Alice were assisting.
Hold Rally Day Services
Rally Day services were conduct-
ed by Rev, 'Burton in the United
Church on Sunday mornipg. Mrs.
Alec McBeath told the story which
was about Indian boys, to the chil-
dren who occupied the centre seats
in the church. Twelve junior boys,
under the direction of Mrs. .Archie
Mustard, sang two numbers very
sweetly. There was a good attend-
ance.
