Obituaries
MRS. ANNIE BEATON
The death occurred in Goderich
on Monday, August 23, of Annie
Beaton., widow of the late Malcolm
Beaton, in her 80th year. Mrs,
Beaton was well known in Sea -
forth, where she resided for. a
number of years when her late
husband carried on a butcher busi-
ness here.
She is survived by a son, Bever-
ley, Beaton, Goderich.
Funeral services were held at
the E. E. Cranston Funeral Home,
Goderich, on Wednesday, August
26, and were followed by inter-
ment in Maitlandbank cemetery,
Seaforth.
LEONARD W. F. GORDON
Leonard W. F. Gordon, a techni-
cal officer in the Department of
National Defence, died unexpect-
edly on Saturday at the age of 37
at Ottawa. Mr. Gordon had resid-
ed at 28 Arundel Avenue.
Born in Cardiff, Wales, he was a
son of the late William Gordon and
his wife, Winnifred Maud Purnell.
He received his early education in
Cardiff and later at Mount Forest,
Ont., where he moved with 'his
family at the age of 12.
He was married in 1941 to Jes-
sie White, who survives. He had
been a technical officer in the De-
partment of National Defence for
the past 14 years. In 1948 he re-
ceived the British Empire Medal.
He was a member of McKay Unit-
ed Church, Ottawa.
Ho leaves, in addition to his
wife, two daughters, Janet and Is-
abel, both at home, and one sister,
Mrs. Gordon (Winnifred) Ferris. of
Seaforth.
MRS. W. H. CLINE
Mrs. William Henry Cline, of 26
Hilda Ave., Hamilton, one of the
city's oldest residents, died at the
Mount Hamilton Hospital, August
18, aged 99. The former Cather-
ine Adams, she was born at Inner-
kipp, Ont., almost 150 years ago,
and would have passed the century
mark on May 15 next year. She

was a former resident of Seaforth.
She had lived in Hamilton for
the last 44 years and was a mem-
ber of First United Church, and,
when her health permitted, was
active in the work of the church.
On October 1S, 1938, Mr. and Mrs.
Cline celebrated their diamond
wedding anniversary at a family
party at their home in Hamilton,
their wedding having taken place
60 years before at Seaforth. Mr.
Cline, who was on the staff of the
Hamilton Public Library for 25
years, died on November 3, 1938.
One son, Harry, died some years
ago.
Surviving are one daughter-in-
law, Mrs, Harry Cline, of Hamilton,
with whom she resided; six grand-
children and ten great grandchil-
dren.
The body was at the Blackford
and Wray Funeral Chapel for ser-
vice in the chapel on Friday after-
noon, August 20, at 2 o'clock. Bur-
ial was made in Hamilton ceme-
tery.

Following their marriage at the
Mutual Club in Toronto, Mr. and
Mrs. Iseacovies will reside in Sea -
forth. Mrs. Iszacovics, the former
Rebecca Shinen, is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. S. Shinen, Seaforth.
Rabbi Oelbaum officiated) at the
ceremony. Given in marriage by
her father, the bride wore a waltz -
length dress of white nylon net.
The fitted strapless bodice was of
lace, embroidered with pearls, and
the bouffant skirt fell in cornered
panels of net. A brief short sleev-
ed bolero of chantilly lace topped
the bodice. Her fingertip veil was
arranged from a crown accented
with pearls, and' she carried a
white Bible covered with a white
orchid, with velvet streamers.
Her only attendant was Ruth
Shinen, sister of the bride. She
wore a waltz -length strapless dress
of champagne net over taffeta and
a headdress of pink roses, and'
carried pink baby roses. Steve
Slomovits, of Cleveland, was best
man.
The bride's mother wore navy
sheer with rhinestone and lace
trim, and a navy velvet picture
hat, with corsage of pink roses.
After a reception at the Mutual
Club, the bride and groom lett for
St. Agathe, feee., the bride travel-
ling in a charcoal grey tissue taf-
feta with matching stole and char-
coal accessories.
MONK – CLARK
In Edmonton, at an early even-
ing ceremony in Beulah Tabernacle
recently, solemnized by Rev. P. K.
Currie, Miss Elsie Irene Monk be-
came the bride of Mr. David Clark.
Baskets of gladioli, delphinium and
other summer blossoms were ar-
ranged on the altar for the mar-
riage of the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. S. P. Monk, of Moose Jaw,
and the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. J. Clark, formerly of Assini-
boia, Sask.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a gown of lace and
net over satin. The lace bodice
extended to form an apron and
bustle over the net skirt: A head-
dress of lace held in place her em-
broidered floor -length veil, and her
only jewellery was'the groom's gift
of a triple strand of pearls. She
carried a bouquet of red roses cen-
tered with a spray of white chrys-
anthemums.
The bride's sisters, Mrs. J. Tom-
linson; Edmonton, and Miss- Betty
Monk, of Stettler, Sask., were ,her
al.tenda.nts. They wore gowns of
net over taffeta and matching pic-
ture hats in shades of shrimp pink
and apple green, and carried 'bas-
kets of daisies, sweet peas and
baby chrysanthemums.
Janice Daley, the flower girl,
wore a frock of yellow taffeta and
a bandeau o6 flowers. Master Paul
Currie was ring -bearer, and prior
to the service tapers, arranged
throughout the church, were light-
ed by Mrs. Swalwell and Mrs. Mc -
Ivor.
Mr. J. Tomlinson and Mr. W.
Dirks attended the groom, and Mr.
Swalwell and Mr. McIver were
ushers. Mrs. K. Pendergast, solo-
ist. was accompanied by • Miss
Nancy French.
At a reception for 50 guests at
the Cathayan, the bride's table was
centered with a three -tiered wed-
dingg cake, flanked with tall tapers
in crystal sconces. The bride's
mother received the guests, wear-
ing a frock of mauve sheer over
pink, complemented with white
picture hat and navy accessories,
with corsage of red, roses.
For a wedding trip to Calgary
and Banff, the bride donned a pink
dressmaker suit with navy acces-
sories.. Mr. and Mrs. Clark will
make their home in Edmonton.
Guests were present from 'Fort
Saskatchewan, Stettler, Swift Cur-
rent and Moose Jaw.
Mrs. Clark is a niece of Mrs.
David Papple, of Seaforth.
ALLAN – WHEATLEY
With tall standards of fink and
white gladioli forming a back-
ground, the wedding took place on
the lawn at the home of the bride's
parents, of Joan Arlene, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. George Wheatley,
Seaforth, to Robert Petrie Allan,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allan,
Brucefleld.
The Rev. T. J. Robinson, Strat-
ford', uncle of the bride, performed
the ceremony. Miss Norma Leem-
ing supplied traditional wedding
music. The soloist was Mrs. Robt.
S. McKercher, who sang "The
Lord's Prayer" before the cere-
mony, and "My World" during the
signing ,of the register.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a ballerina. length
eyelet embroidered organdy over
taffeta, fashioned with a three -
tiered skirt, matching jacket with
a pointed collar and long lily point
sleeves. Her fingertip scalloped
veil was arranged from a satin half
hat, trimmed with. seed pearls. She
carried a nosegay of red Better
Time roses and white Stephanotis.
Matron of honor was Miss Elsie
Storey, Seaforth, who wore a
gown similar in style to the bride's
in pale blue eyelet embroidered
organdy over white taffeta, with a
matching shrug bolero, gloves and
headdress. She carried a nosegay
of pink carnations and white
Stephanotis.
Miss Catherine Campbell, Sea -
forth, attended as bridesmaid.
She chose a gown similar in style
to the matron of honor 'in a deep-
er blue eyelet embroidered organ-
dy over blue taffeta with a match-
ing shrug bolero, gloves and head-
dress. She also carried• a nosegay
of pink carnations and white Steph-
anotis.
Mr. John MacDonald, of Ottawa,
was beat man, and Mr. Larry
Wheatley, brother of the bride,
was usher.
For a reception which followed
at the bride's home, the bride's
mother chose a. beige 'georgette
,grepe with, pink accessories and a
corsftg�' of .Pink roses. She was

The couple will reside on the bride-
groom's farm at Brucefleld.
