FUNERAL of MRS. W. FREEMAN
Funeral services for Mrs. W. A.
Freeman, who died in Scott Mem-
orial Hospital, were held from the
Ce A. Whitney Funeral Home Fri-
day and were conducted by her
minister, Rev. D. Glenn Campbell,
of Filet Presbyterian Church. In-
terment was in Maitlandbauk cem-
etery,
The pallbearers were William
Hodgert, William Wright, George
Pinkney, and three nephews, Geo.
Pickett, Detroit; Cecil, Farnham,
Kitchener, and Hall Farnham, Al-
mente.
Among those from a distance
were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Joynt,
Luckuow; Mr. and Mrs. George
Pickett, Mr. and Mrs. Allan. Farn-
ham, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Farnham,
Mr. Hall Farnham, Almonte; Mr.
and Mrs: T. Silverthorn, of Toron-
to; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Freeman,
of Buffalo, and Mr. and Mrs. Ross
MacGregor, Hullett.
MRS. WILLIAM SMITH
The death occurred in Van-
derhof, B.C., on Saturday, August
14, of Mrs. William Smith, the for-
mer Dora Love, of McKillop Town-
ship. Mrs. Smith was the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Love, and
until her marriage and removal to
the Western Provinces, lived in
McKillop. Death followed a severe
heart attack.
Born in McKillop in 1881, she
was married in 1901 to the late
William Smith, wbo predeceased
her a number of years ago.
Mrs. Smith is survived by three
daughters: Mrs. E. Gooley, Anti-
gon.is+h, N.S.; Mrs. Roy Taylor,
Vanderhof, B.C., and Mrs. Greig
Thompson, Valleyfield, P.Q.. and
also by five sons, Arthur, of the
U.S. Navy; Carl, Norman, Robert
and George, all of Vanderhof, B.C.
In addition, three brothers and one
sister survive. and these are Nor-
man E. Love, Thomas Love and
Miss Ellie Love, of Milestone, Sask.
and George Love of McKillop.
Funeral services were held in
Vanderhof and interment follo'yed
at that point.
MICHAEL JOSEPH DWYER
The community and district was
saddened by the sudden passing of
Michael Dwyer in Stratford Gen-
eral Hospital on Friday afternoon,
August 20. He had been i11 only a
few days, and an autopsy perform-
ed in Stratford revealed Mr. Dwyer
had died from a blood clot.
Born September 7, 1912, he was
the son of the late Joseph Dwyer
and Katherine DeCoursey, who
survives. He received his early ed-
ucation at St, Patrick's school, Kin -
kora, later being employed in De-
troit at the Briggs Motor Company
for a number of years.
During World War II he served
as a stoker in the Navy on the
Malpeque, a.nd,upon returning he
was eenployed at the Hayes Steel
Plant, St. Catharines, until he took
over his father's farm owing to
his father's illness, and w//jln prede-
ceased him almost two rs ago.
Surviving are his moth , -Mrs.
Katherine Dwyer; six brothers,
Tim, Kinkora; Dan, Kitchener;
Gerald, Trenton; John, Windsor;
Jerome, Toronto; Torn, Kinkora,
and four sister, (Winnie) Mrs. Leo
Hagan, Seaforth; (Agnes) Mrs.
John Walsh, Dublin; (Teresa)
Mrs. Kenneth Pommer, London,
and (Helen) Mrs. Alexander Wood,
Detroit.
The funeral took place from his
late residence Monday morning at
10 a.m. to St. Patrick's Church,
Kinkora, where Requiem High
Maes was sung by his parish priest,
Ftev. T. P. C. Donnellan, interment
being in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Pallbearers. were ,Joseph Walsh,
Tim McGuiness. Edward Kenny,
Gerald Kelly, Frank Cassidy and
James Brown.

Peter's Church, Sarnia, on Monday,
August 23, at 11 o'clock, of Jeanne
Catherine McIver, diaughter of Mr.
and 'Mrs. Peter McIver, Seaforth,
and John Andrew Wright, Sarnia,
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Wright, Seaforth. Rev. Father A.
Nolan officiated. -
The bride wore a tailored oyster
linen suit with navy accessories,
and a shoulder corsage of red rose-
buds. Her matron of honor was
her sister, Mrs. Fe S. Coffin, 480
Oriole Parkway, Toronto, who
wore a powder blue peva dress
with matching bolero and hat and
a shoulder corsage of Johanna
Hill rosebuds. The best man was
Mr, E. S. Coffin, Toronto,
Following the ceremony a wed-
ding dinner took place at the Col-
onial Hotel, Sarnia, and in the af-
ternoon a reception was held at
the home of the bride's parents in
Seaforth. The bride and groom
left later on a wedding trip to
Georgian Bay and other northern
points, the bride wearing a powder
blue nylon dress, navy coat and
accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Wright
will reside at "Gala Saho" Apart-
ments, 416 Nelson St., Sarnia.
TOUT - STEVENSON
Holy Trinity Auglican Church,
Chesley, was the scene of a_lovely
double -ring marriage ceremony on
Saturday afternoon, when Marion
Lenore Stevenson, daughter of
Mayor Thomas Stevenson and Nies.
Stevenson, Chesley, exchanged
vows with William Eugene Tout,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Tout,
Kincardine.
The Rev. A. J. Ostle performed
the ceremony midst a background
of mixed gladioli and lighted tap-
ers. Mrs. Wada Sweiget supplied
traditional wedding music.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a princess -styled
lloor-length gown of white slipper
satin fashioned with a sweetheart
neckline. Her fingertip veil of il-
lusion net was arranged from a
cap trimmed with orange blos-
soms. A cascade bouquet of red
roses and stephanotis completed
her ensemble,
Matron of honor was Mrs, Wood-
row Schell, sister of the groom,
who wore a strapless, floorslength
gown of light blue nylon net over
nylon taffeta with matching net
stole. She carried a fan of pint:
carnation's. Mrs. Ronald Irving and
Mrs. Jack Gingrich attended as
bridesmaids. Mrs. Irving chose a
pink nylon net over satin gown
fashioned with off -the shoulder
neckline, and fan bouquet of pink
carnations. Mrs. Gingrich was
gowned in yellow net over taffeta,
and carried a fan of mauve carna-
tions. All the attendants wore
matching floral halos.
Jack Wessel was best man.
George Stevenson and Tam Stev-
enson, brothers of the bride, ush-
ered guests.
For a reception held in the i
church parlors, the bride's mother
chose a figured silk dress, white:
accessories and corsage of pink
carnations. She was assisted by.l
the groom's mother dressed in'

Mrs. C. Glew, who. has been a
patient in a London hospital, has
returned to Seaforth and now is in
Scott Memorial Hospital here.

Snell is in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, where he underwent an oper-
ation Wednesday morning,
Miss Jane A. Robson, Abiline,
Kansas, and her niece, 'Mrs. Ver-
non Brown and Mr. Brown, of Rich-
mond Heights, Missouri, were in
Seaforth this week calling on rela-
tives in the district. Miss Robson,
who is a descendant of the late
James Broadfoot, of Brig End,
went to Kansas with her parents
nearly 80 years ago.
Mrs. David' Lemon, who spent a
week in Port Stanley, has return-
ed home.
'Mr. William Scott is attending
Boy Scout Camp.
While reading the evening pa-
per, Jenkins spied an interesting
item anti called his wife: "Listen
to this, honey: Alexander.. Jones,
well known naturalist, slipped over
a Rocky Mountain precipice yester-
day while reaching for a wild flo-
es. As he fell, he gathered. mo-
mentum ".
"Wfhat an enthusiast he must
have been," the wife interrupted
sadly. "Imagine, picking flowers
as hel fell!"

wishes the prayers of the congre-
gation for a relative or friend?"
asked the minister of a little New.
England church.
"I do," said an angular lady aris-
ing from a rear pew. "I want the
congregation to pray for my hus-
band."

"Yes, but I want you all to pitch

An old lady who "could not see
eye to eye with the taxi-driver on
the question of fare, finally re-

"Don't you try to tell me any-
thing, my good man. 1 haven't
been riding in taxis for live years
for nothing!"
