Miss Gladys Luker had the mis-
fortune to suffer a fall on Satur-
. day evening. X-rays taken at South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, revealed a
. cracked bone in her left wrist,
which will be in a cast for four
weeks. "

family, of Teeewater, were Sunday
guests with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Reid, Jerry and Allan.
Donnie Reid, Gerald Regele,
Gerald Oesch, Pill and Tom Lav-
ender, accompanied by their Scout-
master, Mr. Charles Dunlop, left
Saturday for the Boy Scout camp,
Sarnia, where they will stay 10
days.
Mrs. Anna Hanes, Toronto, was
the guest last week of Mrs, Bertha
Bell. She also visited with her
'brother in Detroit.
Mrs. Reta Charles, London, spent

Hensall Champion is 90
Mr. William Hyde, who resides
a mile and a quarter south of Hen-
sall. on Highway 4. on Friday, July
23, celebrated his 911th birthday. A
fiddler of widely known fame, Mr.
Hyde has been cnnii:eiing in old
fiddlers' contests for years. at the
C.N.E.• Toronto. and many centres
in Western Ontario. Ile has won 57
firsts. 9 seconds, 7 thirds and four
fourths in the numerous contests
he has played in. Mr. Hyde is -
still an expert with the. how- and
fiddle and expects to compete in
the old time fiddlers' contests com-
ing up shortly in Shelbourne. He
has been playing the violin since
he was 11 years of age.
Reunion At, Poplar Hill
Poplar Hill was the setting for
the"+3iggar reunion. over the week-
end witch 120 members of the clan
attending from Sarnia, Watford,
Hamilton:. Galt., Tavistock, Baden,
Waterloo. Tillsonburg. flat tsvilie,
Forest. Strathroy, Pontiac. Mich.,
and Hensall. Mr, Elmer Doan, of
Plattsville, was master of ceremon-
ies. Prizes for the oldest couple
present went to Mr. and Mrs. John
Jlolal, of Baden; youngest, Ruth
Doan, Sarnia, and Glen Holst, Bard-
en, both two months of age; com-
ing the longest distance, Mr. and
Mrs. Watson, Pontiac, Mich. A per-
iod of sports was held and a pic-
nic dinner and supper enjoyed.
Keys -Parker- Reunion
The Keys -Parker reunion was
held at Seaforth Lions Park Mon-
day night, .July 26, with 30 mem-
bers enjoying the event. from Mit-
chell, Exeter and Hensall. During
the evening Mr. and Mrs. William
Parker, of Hensall, who recently
celebrated t,hf'ir 251h wedding an-
niversary, were mode the presen-
tation of a silver tea service. Mr.
Edgar Cudmore, of Exeter. Id-
drrssed the guests of honor, and
Mrs. Mussell Keys made the press

Baby lin Critical Condition
The condition of Donald Orms-
t.on, eight -months. son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Ormston. Toronto. still
remains critical in East General
Cer
Hospital, 'Toronto, although hopes
are held out for iris recovery. The
baby received third degree burns
to his right arm, shoulder and
body to his hip when .he reached
up from his buggy and grabbed the
cord of an electric tea kettle,
which had been unplugged. The
boiling water from the kettle pour-
ed over the right side of his body.
Skin grafting may 'have to he
done. The child was being looked
after by a neighbor, whose little
boy was wheeling him up and
down in his buggy when. the acci-
dent happened. Donald is the
grandson of Mr, and Mrs. Lorne
-McNaughton, of Cromarty. The
baby's mother Is the former Mar-
garet McNaughtogi, of Cromarty.

a two weeks' honeymoon are ideat.

the former Carolyn Chelew. They
will reside on. Vancouver Island,
where the bridegroom is stationed
with the Royal Canadian Navy, up-
on their return.
Carolyn, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. G. M. Chelew, of Los An-
geles,
ngeles, California, and granddaugh-
ter of Mrs. Cornelius Cook, and the
late Mr. Cook, of Hensall, chose
the chapel of the Robertson Metho-
dist Church, Los Angeles, Cal., Sat-
urday
aturday for her wedding, a charming
event with pink and white carna-
tions and baby breath forming a
floral background. Mr. Chelew
gave his daughter in marriage. For
her wedding the lovely bride chose
a street -length gown of hand -
drawn Alencon lace, jewelled with
seed pearls and irridescent sequins.
A crown of matching lace held the
short illusion veil, and she carried
butterfly orchids and stephanotis.
Of special sentiment was the
bridegroom's gift, a tiny gold ring
bearing the family crest, tradition-
ally given to brides in his family
on their wedding day.
The groom wore dress uniform
of the Royal Canadian Navy. Rev.
Hugh Lormer officiated.
Mrs. Donald Chelew was matron
of honor, wearing pink linen and
carrying pink carnations. Harry
Bell-Lrving was his brother's best
man, and the bride's brothers, Dav-
iel and Robert Chelew, seated the
guests.

ding bells and ropes of lemon.

and Lake Louise. where they will
be for a week. After August 12
they will be in Esquimalt,,Vancou-
ver Island, where the Lieutenant is
stationed at H.M.C.S. Naden.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Robin Bell -Irving, of West Van-
couver, British Columbia, and the
late Mr. Bell -Irving. Mrs. Robin
Bell -Irving and Mrs.- Harry Bell -
Irving flew from Vancouver for the
wedding.
