Gowned in white feather shadow
lace and tulle over taffeta, Doris
Jean McMaster exchanged marriage
vows with Donald Ian Stewart in
St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church,
Toronto, on Saturday morning.
The bride is the daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. E. A. McMaster, Sea -
forth, and the groom is the son
of the late Mr. and 'Mrs. Charles
Stewart, formerly of Seaforth.
The Rev. Father C. Curran offici-
ated and wedding music was pro-
vided by Mr. and Mrs. James A.
Stewart, of Seaforth. The bride
was given in marriage by her
father.
A draped tulle inset enhanced
the molded strapless basque of the
lace gown and from a minute
waist, the bouffant skirt of tulle
fell to floor -length, fashioned with
a deep petal -shaped flounce of lace.
Worn over the dress was a short -
sleeved cutaway bolero of tulle,
edged with a deep border of lace
and a Peter Pan collar. Her finger-
tip veil was held by a matching
cap. She carried white carnations
and sweet peas.
Miss Mary Ryan, Seaforth, was
maid of honor, and Mrs. Joan Pud-
ney, London, and Miss Karen Kidd,
Seaforth, sisters of the bride, were
bridesmaids. They wore ankle -
length pale blue gowns of Christo-
let taffeta, princess lines, with
pleated stoles and white accessor-
ies. Their flowers were of white
shasta daisies, and they wore
matching headdresses.
Dr, Friel Stewart, Windsor, bro-
ther of the groom, was groomsman
and Mr. J. G. Wilson, Toronto, and
Mr. R. Clancey, Detroit, ushered.
A reception was held at the
Prince Arthur House. The guests
were received by the bride's moth-
er, who wore pale pink faille with
matching bolero trimmed with
pearls and sequins with navy ac-
eesories, and wore a corsage of
pink roses. She was assisted by
Mrs. P. D. McConnell, Seaforth, sis-
ter of the groom. who wore cream
pale pink lace with matching bol-
ero and pink accessories, and a cor-
sage of carnations.
For a wedding trip to Quebec the
bride donned a grey worsted suit,
white hat and navy accessories.
The couple will reside in Toronto.

June 5, at two o'clock, was the
setting for the wedding of Joyce
Marie Humphrey, Reg.N.. daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Humphrey,
of Kincardine, to David Chester
Schenck, of Rostock, Ont. The
church "was decorated with baskets
of mauve and white lilacs. The Rev.
Gilbert Gomm officiated. Miss Mar-
got Ann Couch played the wedding
music and Mrs. Ralph Smith, Reg.
N., Toronto, a classmate of the
bride. sang "The Lord's' Prayer,"
and during the signing of the reg-
ister, "Bless This House."
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a floor -length
gown of white Chantilly lace over
slipper satin with lily point sleeves
and full skirt extending into a
train. The gathered skirt had a
centre front panel of layers of
gathered nylon tulle. The neckline
was appliqued with daisies em-
broidered with tiny rhinestones and
seed pearls held the waist -length
veil of nylon tulle appliqued with
matching lace flowers embroidered
with rhines-tones and seed pea.rls.
Her bouquet was of American Beau-
ty roses, white Stephanotis and
ivy.
Miss Lois Humphrey, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor and
wore a floor -length gown of mauve
brocaded nylon over taffeta with
insets of pleated mauve nylon net

ST. THOMAS' GUILD MEETS
The monthly meeting of the Lad-
ies' Guild of St. Thomas' Church
was held Thursday in the •Parish
Hall. The president, Miss D.
Parke, presided and the meeting
opened with scripture reading, the
Epistle for St. Barnabas Day, read
by Mrs. G. McGavin. Prayers for
the parish were followed by the
Lord's Prayer in unison.
Following the roll . call, the min-
utes and treasurer's reports were
given. After the report by the re-
presentative to the board of man-
agement, new business was discuss-
ed. The date for the annual bazaar
has been set for November 17. A
tea will be held at the home of
Mrs. Bethune on Friday, June 25,
from 3 to 6 p.m., proceeds to be
donated to the memorial window
fund.
After the collection was received
and dedicated, Rev. J. H. James ad-
jourued the meeting with the bene-
diction. A lovely lunch was serv-
ed by the lunch committee,

Royal Oak, Mich., were recent
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam
Clarke and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood

In a list of officers of the Wo-
men's Auxiliary of Scott Memorial
Hospital, which appeared in last
week's issue, the name of Mrs. F.
J. 'echely was inadvertently omit-
ted from the Ways and means com-
mittee.

The bridesmaids, Mtss Verlie
Martin, Reg.N., Kincardine, and
Mrs. George McKerracher, Strat-
ford, sister of the groom, both
wore floor -length gowns identical
to that of the maid of honor of
pale green brocaded nylon over
taffeta. They carried nosegay bou-
quets of apricot carnations and ivy.
Ivin Schenck, brother of the
groom, was best man. The ushers
were Douglas Irwin, cousin of the
bride, and •George McKerracher,
brother-in-law of the groom.
Receiving in the church parlor,
the bride's mother wore a rosewood
crepe dress with lace insets with
white accessories and a corsage of
pink carnations. The groom's moth-
er assisted, wearing a navy crepe
dress with white and navy acces-
sories and corsage of white carna-
tions.
For a wedding trip through the
Central United States. the bride
changed to a navy coat lined with
pale blue and White silk, the same
material as her dress, with white
and navy accessories and corsage
of red roses and stephanotis. The
couple will reside in Seaforth.
The bride designed and made her
own wedding apparel and veil and
also those of the attendants and
her going -away suit. June 5 also
marked the occasion of the 25th
wedding anniversary of the bride's
parents, and also the groom's
birthday. Guests were present for
the wedding from Windsor, Chat-
ham, Toronto, Preston, Stratford,
Seaforth, Rostock, Lucknow and
Kincardine.

REV. SHELDON COLEMAN
Friends and relatives were
shocked to hear of the sudden
passing of Rev. Sheldon Coleman
in Goodrich, Mich. He was a son
of the late William Coleman and
Mary Jane (Consitt) Coleman, and
was born. near Hensel'. 'Later he
went to Michigan, studying for the
ministry, and was attending 'con-
ference at Detroit, where he gave
Ms report, • sat down and. passed
suddenly away. He was 52 years
of age. MI.s. Milton Stewart, of
Seaforth, is a sister.
DIES IN HAMILTON
The death occurred in Hamilton
on Wednesday, following a long
illness, of Sara Ann Sproat, widow
of the late Robert Bell, of Sea -
forth. She is survived by one
daughter, Anna Bell -Anderson, and
two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann
Anderson and Fergus. Lake. A
son, William Earle Bell. predeceas-
ed her in,1948.
A funeral service will be held at
the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hen -
sail, on Saturday afternoon at 3
p.m., and interment will follow in
} ensall Union Cemetery.
MRS. WILLIAM AMENT
The sudden death 'occurred at the
home of her daughter in London
Sunday evening of Mrs.. William
Ament, of Seaforth. Mrs. Ament,
who had been in ill health for sev-
eral years, had been feeling some-
what better, and a few days pre-
viously had gone to London to vis-
it her -daughter. She was in her
78th year.
Born and educated in Seaforth,
she was the former Janet Eliza-
beth Winter. She was .married here
in 1898, her husband predeceasing
her in 1952. She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church, Sea -
forth, and was active in its work,
particularly in the Ladies' Aid.
Surviving are four sons: Warren,
Detroit; Kenneth, Waterloo; Ar-
thur, Toronto; Karl, Mimico; a
daughter, Mrs. Stanley Grainger,
London; a sister, Mrs. Ed'w rd
Hodgins, Toronto, and a brother,
Rufus Winter, Seaforth.
Funeral services were conducted
from the Whitney Funeral Home
Wednesday afternoon by her Min-
ister, Rev. D. Glenn Campbell. Bur-
ial followed in Maitlandbank ceme-
tery, the pallbearers being C.. A.
Barber, D. Sills, B. F. Christie,
George Hays, Sydney Pullman and
A. Y. McLean.
