This 'Week At the, Seaforth High ,School
BY SEN LANE
It was 'proven 'last weekend that ter.man of the night, and his se18c-
lrecord dances can be highly eco-
,cessful if properly arranged. Last
,Fridays night the Boys' Athletic So-:
.ciety sponsored a record -dance,
-which was as successful as any
held this year. The promoters ar-
ranged to have a fine selection of,
-records through the compliments of
the Ontario Agricultural College in
Guelph. Art Bolton was the plat -

tions proved very satisfying.
Although the crowd wasn't as
large as the usual school dances,
everybody stepped the light fantas-
tic with the highest of spirits. Niny
and Donald were the lucky winners
of the spot dance. To get their
reward they were required to
dance a little jig all by them-
selves. They should: make excel-
lent (ballet partners.
As for the lunch department, it
was the regular long johns and'
coke. Maybe for the next big 'do'
it could be arranged to have some
of those good old sandwiches and
cookies. Better variety, you know!
In connection with the Friday
night's fun, there were a few per-
plexing incidents that has resulted
in the elimination of all outsiders
from future student parties. This:
will be strictly en rced in the fu-
ture, and u•ss ome students
take a more favorable attitude it
might mean the end of all student
gatherings.

Seaforth` High polished off their
basketball schedule this .past week-
end' in sparkling fashion. Out of
their six final battles, the Seaforth
cage squads emerged holding (five
victories.
Irn c oderich last Thursday, both.
Senior and Junior boys ]eft the
port teams holding the shaert end
of the score. It was the Seaforth
girls who gave the Blues and
White their only win of the after-
uoon.
Wingham District High /bore the
brunt of the Seaforth storm on Fri-
day afternoon in golden territory,
as the visitors were sent home win-
less. The basketball played, was
the most onesided played in Sea -
forth gym this season, and from
the showing of the younger teams
it looks' as if Wingham is going' to
be underd'ogs for a few more sea-
SOnS. 4
In the opening game the Senior
girls took a 24-17 win frogs the
Wingham invaders with Hazel
Slavin being the sensation of the
Seaforth attack. On playing for-
ward for her 'first game this seasdn,
Hazel was able to sweep the
Wingitamn basket for 12 of Sea-
forth's points. Possibly if Hazel
had been 'playing this position all
season the girls would,n't have been
losing some of those close con-
tests.
The ,;Senior boys had a ball at
the expense of the defenceless
Wiingham Five. Seaforth ran up a
50-5 onesided score to send their
conference colleges- 'home in des-
peration. Satch's big arm was
able to count for 21 points, while
Rooster and Ted were rating higr
on the scoring sheet
In the final game it was a cop-
tinued repetition of the first two.
Seaforth ended'out on top holding
a •24.22 score. Leon held the lead-
ing hand for the golden marksmen.
A .public speaking contest is
scheduled for the Seaforth High
auditorium a week from tonight.
Elaine Dale and- Jim Axtman are
representing Seaforth in the. Lions
sponsored program. The contest-
ants will come from all the sur-
rounding schools, with each school
attempting to carry off top honors.

Most hockey fans were .pleased•
to see the onesided Junior 'B' semi-
finals come to an end this week.
It was not expected the Wingham
boys would topple the •Bald!wins,
but it was expected that they
would have provided better compe-
tition than they did. Before the
series started, I called Seaforth to
take the series- in five games, but
after seeing the first contest, wslich
ended up 12-4 for Seaforth, it was
thought very unlikely Wingham
could come close for 'one victory.
Seaforth is not to be- rated un-
beatable. They are playing the
same typ2 of hockey they were
playing two months ago. 'Until the
Baldwins run into closer competi-
tion, they are not going to make
any vast improvement.- Sarnia,
who is slated for Seaforth camp
this weekend, is definitely a super-
ior team to Wingham, but the Tars
are still under the Seaforth' class.
It is expected that the Seaforth
hockey fans will see the local clan
taking the series without too much
difficulty. Although . Sarnia was,
able to take a regular league game
from Seaforth, it is not very likely
they will be able to do this in play-
off com'petitidn.
After meeting the Milverton
Dominions in Seaforth this Thurs-
day night, the Baldwins should get
some idea how they.,will slhovr up
against Waterloo. Waterloo is ex-
pected to be the team Seaforth will
have to beat in the O.H.A. Junior
'B' semi.Wfinals. Only last week
Waterloo and Milverton met in an
exhibition tilt, which had both
teams coming to a 4-4 tie. Sea -
forth hockey fans will have the
urge to be on hand for this exhi-
bition meeting. since Milverton, is
one of the better teams in the A.
H.A. 'Intermediate circuit. •
Mothballs are now getting pull-
ed out for the Seaforth Bantams.
In their final game of their best of
three battle against the -Port Elgin
Bantams in Wingham last Tuesday
night, Seaforth was sent . home as
the 6-5 losers.
The game was, a hard one for
any team to lose, especially Sea -
forth, who outplayed their rivals,
but couldn't.et the .puck past the
Port Elgin goalie. Coach Don 'Hor-
ton felt, 'If it wasn't for that goalie
in the' last period we would have
won quite easily:' No matter what
the result, the Bantams deserve a
mighty heer for the splendid com-
petition they .provided. •
In the best -of -five W.O.A.A. 'Mid-
get. semi-finals Seaforth was able
to take three straight from Harris -
ton. Now the Seaforth boys are
waiting, to tangle with the winners
of the Kincardine vs. Wingham
series.
