ed home from a London hospital,
where he underwent a major opera-
tion.

ton, Detroit, were here last week
visiting their aunt, Miss Verna
Graves, who is eeriously 111 in
Scott Memorial Hospital.
Guests at the home of Mr. and

,Miss Alice Dougall, Toronto, was
a recent visitor with her sister,
Mrs. M. R. Rennie, and Mr. Ren-
nie.
Mr. Walter E. Latimer, Hamil-
ton, a former employee of The Ex-
positor, called on friends and visit-
ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs, F.
S, Sills. In his early days Mr.
Latimer lived in the ,home of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Sills,
and is now a retired railroad man,
living in Hamilton.
Mr. and Mrs, Thomas M. Grieve,
Egmondville, leave this week for
Chatham, where they will spend
the winter with their daughter,
Miss Bess Grieve.
Mr. and Mrs. Christensen and
Elinor, Arva, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. .Tames F. Scott,
Thornton .Hall.
Mr. Joseph Miller, who has not
enjoyed good health for some time,
was taken to Scott Memorial Iios,

The infant appeared to have a
Blight cold Saturday evening Out
its condition was not considered
serious. Wlhen the mother attend-
od the child, at 2 a:m, it seemed'
well, but at 7 a.m. it was discov-
ered to be dead. Thai remains rest-
ed at the Whitney Funeral Home,
where a service was conducted at
a p.m, Tuesday by Rev. J. H. James
of St. Thomas' Anglican Church.
Burial was in Maitlandbank ceme-
tery, Besides the parents, two sis-
ters, Ruth and Janet, survive.
LATE MR& T. J. MoADAMS
Following au illness of two
weeks, Mrs. Thomas J. McAdams
died in Scott Memorial Hospital
late Friday night in her 81st year.
She was the former Elizabeth
Sparks, and was born at Tavistock
and married at Stratford- The only
survivors are her husband, Thomas
J. McAdams, Seaforth; one sister,
Mrs. James Bi01n, Stratford, and
several nieces and nephews. In
early life Mrs. MeAdams was a mil-
liner for many years :at Stewart
Bros. in Seaforth.
She was a member of First Pres-
byterian Church and active in the
women's organizations of the
church. She was also a member of
Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge, Sea -
forth.
The body rested at the G. A,
Whitney Funeral Home, where a
funeral service was conducted at 1
p.m. on Monday, by Rev. D. Glenn
Campbell. Burial was in St: An-
drew's Cemetery, North •Easthope.
The pallbearers were James A.
Stewart, M. McKellar, Roy Dungey,
Fern Walker, James Field and Wm,
Sinclair,
LATE W. JOHN NOTT
Rev. W. E. Milroy conducted a
funeral service Saturday afternoon
in Egmondville United Church for
W. John Nott, who died in Scott
Memorial Hospital December 3, in
his 88th year.
Mr. Nott had rosea in failing
health for the past two years and
seriously ill for one week. He was
born in Grey Township, the son of
the 'late Thomas 'Nott and, Martha
Carter, and moved in early life to
the Algoma District, where he
farmed until 1918; then moved to
Richard's Landing, followed by a
year in New York State, retiring to
Egmondville in 1920.
Mr. Nott was twice married, first
in 1904 to Lorna Williams, who
died in 1934. His second wife, the
former Margaret Moore, to whom
he was married in 1937, survives,
together with one daughter, Mrs.
Keith (Evalena) Webster, Blyth;
one son, Raymond Nott, Tucker -
smith; 'six grandchildren, one bro-
ther, George Nott, and one sister,
Mrs. Annie Stevens, both of 'Sault
Ste, Marie, who are the last sur-
vivors of a family of ten.
During the service a quartette
was sung by Miss Mae Smith, Mrs.
Warden Haney, Mervyn Nott and
Ivan. Forsyth. Burial was in the

District Farmer Buys
Plrrjze-Winning Calf
Irwin Trewartha, well-known Mc-
Killop farmer and president of the
Huron -Perth Jersey Association,
was in Toronto last Week and pur-
chased the prize-winning bull calf,
Edgeley Double Beacom. The calf
stood first in its clasps at the Royal
Winter Fair. There were, 22 en-
tries in the class, •
Kin of Local Woman Wins
Architectural Award
A young architect, D. C. John-
son, husband of Phyllis Manning,
formerly of Londesboro, and niece
of Mrs. Walker Hart, ,Seaforth,
with his partner, C. S. McWhinnie,
won a $10,000 prize for a design. for
Windsor's proposed new civic audi-
torium. They will receive the
award whether or not the auditor-
ium is built.

met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

evening with a good attendance.
Groups were formed and a discus-
sion on "Citizens of Tomorrow'
