Graham, Oman ,minister of the Ontario De- partment of Agrioulture. The Achievement Night climaxed tbe e953 4-H Club program, in Huron County, in which 24 clubs ,goMprising 347 members partici- pated. Of the 347 members, 323 or 92.7 per cent completed their projects, while 14 of the clubs allowed 100 per cent completion. Nearly $2,000 in •cash. prizes was awarded. Among the winners of special awards were: The T. Pryde Trophy, donated and presented by Thomae ,Pryde, M.PiP., to Joanne McCullough, R. R. 3, Clinton, a member of the Bay- field Beef Calf 4:)1u,b, She scored 954 out of a, possible 1,000 points, the highest score of any of the 323 members. The award goee to' the member receiving the highest num- ber of points on the "basis oof awards" for 4-H Club work in 1953. Rogers was hostess at her home Thursday afternoon for the December meeting of the Women's Missionary Society. The chair was taken by Mrs. W. B. Cross, and the devotional period by Mrs. W. Alexander and •Mrs. W. Stephenson. Mrs. Jarvis Horton read a Christmas message, "What Does Christma.s Mean to You?" Janet Horton, Gwen Spencer and Charles Mickle favored with a de- lightful piano trio,. Mre. C. Cook and Miss A. Consitt were made presentations of gifts for their faithful work in the past, the for- mer being treasurer for many years, and the latter reviewing the study book. Mrs. Cross made t.he presentations. McLean Trophy, donated and presented by Mr. McLean, to Miss Betty Storey, R.R. 2, tSeaforth, of the Seaforth Dairy Calf Club, grand champion showman for dairy calf clubs. Huron Hereford Association Past Presidents' Trophy donated and presented by Heber Eedy and George 'Kennedy, to Joanne McCul- lough for showing the champion Hereford calf at the 1953 show. ,Savauge Trophy, donated and presented by Ross Savauge, Sea - forth, to George Bacon, Belgrave, of the North Huron Swine Club, for having the champion pair of swine club gilts in Huron and Perth Counties. Livestock trophies and miniatures were presented to Maurice Hallahan, Blyth; George Turner, Clinton; Robert Hern. Granton, these being the 1953 live- stock judging competition winners. Five dollar award to Donald' Dodds for showing the grand champion Yorkshire gilt, donated and presented by G. W. Montgom- ery; $30 each to Lorne Ballantyne, Exeter, and John Feagan, Dungan- non, members of the Huron team at the. International Plowing match, donated by the North Huron, South Huron and Ontario ,Plowmen's As- sociations, and presentation by C. D. Graham of a Club Leader's• Cer- tificate honoring five years' volun- tary service as a leader to Thomas Todd, leader of the Lucknow Beef Calf Club. The regular meeting of Walton W.M.S. was held the school- room of Duff's United Churcb on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. H. John- ston, the president, opened the meeting with a hymn and prayer. The secretary's and treasorern re- ports were read and approved, Twenty-five answered the roll call. After the worship service in the Missionary Monthly, the groups gave their reports, all reporting a splendid year. Mrs. McCall read tae slate of officers for 1954, which District W. L President Addresses Hurondale Group Mrs. Kenneth Johns, district President of the Women's Institute, addressed membere of Hurondale W.I. at their meeting held at the home of Mrs. William Etheringtore taking as her t4eme, "Footprints of the Women's Institute." Mrs. Arthur Rundle reported on the Hurondale Jolly Jills 'sewing club, whose project is "Well Dress- ed .and Well Groomed." Mrs. Gar- net Hicks reported. on the district executive meeting, and Mrs. A. Moir and Mrs. W. Sims on the W.L rally at Gorrie. Mrs. Moir also gave a report on the hospital aux- tieue as Hurondale's representative te the auxiliary. Donations of $10 each were vot- ed to the Children's War Memorial Hospital and the Unitarian Relief fund. Roll call was answered bY a suggestion for a Christmas, centre- piece. Mrs, William Rowcliffe convened the program on "Historical Re- search." Mrs. Harry Snell com- mented on the motto, "The only old person is he who na longer desires to learn." Current events were re- viewed by Mrs. Earl Mitchell. Mrs. Russell Ferguson demonstrated hair - styling, with „Mrs. Williazo Sims as model. Amber Rebekah Lodge Meets The regular meeting of Amber Rebekah 'Lodge, Hensall, was held in the lodge rooms Wednesday, December 2, with N.G. Mrs. Doro- thy Parker in the 'chair. There were visiting members from Ilder- ton Lodge present. Three new members, joined by tranefer: Mrs. Gladys, Cunningham from Paisley .Memorial Lodge at Ilderton, Mrs. Dorothy Marks frain Morning Star Lodge at Brussels, and Mrs. Alice Ferg from Monkton Star Lodge at Monkton. Members are reminded of the Christmas. Par- ty and gift exchange at the next meeting, also gifts of toys and good used clothing for the Chil- dren's Aid Society at *Goderich. After the meeting a eocial hour was spent, consisting of a vocal duet by Mrs. Henrietta Brown and Mrs. Edith Bell, and a reading by Miss M. Ellis. Bingo was played, with prizes going to several mem- bers, after which a delicious lunch was served. was approved. The 16th Group, with Mrs. jaxnee McDonald as lead- er, gave a chapter from the etudy book, "Where'er the Sun." Mrs. Johnston closed the meeting with Hymn 21 and prayer.
