theology.

orary flight lieutenant's commission
in the R.C.A.F., where he served
as Chaplain until demobilization in
1946. During his service with the
Air Force he was stricken with
poliomyelitis for 18 months.
After serving as associate rector
of, the Church of St. Marys, Toron-
to, he took over the mission parish
of Tast Moosonee with churches in
Northern Saskatchewan. In the
months following the Coronation of
Queen Elizabeth II, Mr, Max,
preached at a number of churches
in England.
Mr. Knox is the father of three
sons and three daughters.

Suffers Arm Injuries in
Hensall Mill Accident
BRUCEIFIEW. There passed
away in Scott iMemorial Hospital,
Seaforth, on -Monday, November 23,
John Wesley Stackhouse, a resident
of Brucefield and vicinity for the
Past 30 years, in his '3rd year.
•Mr. Stackhouse had been suffer-
ing a beast condition and asthma
for some yeart, but his death came
as a sudden shock to his relatives
and friends.
Born in Westfield, he was mar-
ried there to Mabel Whiteman, and
they marked their golden wedding
anniversary last year. Mr. Stack-
house farmed north of Brucefield
prior to coming to the village some
years ago. He was a member of
Brucefield (United ,Church and serv-
ed as treasurer for a number of
year.
Surviving are bis widow, two
daughters, Miss Eva Stackhouse,
at home; Mrs. Stanley Neal, Glen-
coe, and one son, Elwood Stack-
house, Hyde Park.
The funeral took place Wednes-
day afternoon from the Beattie
Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rev.
W. J. Maines, Brucefield, and Rev.
Taylor, Dorchester, conducting the
service. A male quartette from
Westfield sang.
The pallbearers were members of
the Offcial Board of ,Brucefield
Church: Clendon Christie; W. D.
Wilson, Vic Taylor, Aldie Mustard,
Seldon Ross and Wilmer Broadfoot.
Percy Webster, 42, an employee The flowerbearers were Alvin Mc -
of Thompson's Mill, IHensall, was Bride, Fred Boyce, John !Broadfoot,
admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, Norman Walker, W. Moffat, Edgar

Soldier Hurt in Accident
North of Brucefield Sat.
Following an/accident north of
Brucefield Saturday, two soldiers
from Camp 1pperwash were treat-
ed for cuts and 'bruises at the
R.C.A.F., Clinton Station hospital.
The men, W. H. Smith and H. Tay-
lor, were riding in a truck driven
by F. H. Alcock, R.R. 4, Brussels,
when the vehicle bit a soft shoul-
der of the highway and rolled over.
The driver was uninjured.

WMS Awards Two Life
Membership Scrolls
Mrs. D. Glenn Campbell; presi-
dent of the Senior Auxiliary of the
.W.M.S. of First Presbyterian
Church, opened the November meet-
ing with a message and prayer. The
reports of the various secretaries
and the treasurer were received.
The society gave two members
life membership certificates, one
presented by Mrs. David Ritchie•to
MTS. E. Geddes, the other to Mrs.
Nesbitt by Mrs. Robert Eberhart,
in recognition of faithful service
The meeting was in charge of
Mrs. W. Manson's group. Mrs. J.
Kerr and Mrs. Oliver read the
scripture lesson and Mrs. Campbell
read a meditation: Mrs. D. Ritchie
gave an address on education and
religion in Africa today. Religion
and education must go -hand in
hand, as education without religion
is a curse, she said. Tbe next meet-
ing will be held December 15.

LATE GEORGE McTAGGART
WALTON-Walton and district
• residents were "shocked Tuesday,
November 24, when it was learned
that George MeTaggart, a promin-
ent and highly respected citizen of
the village, had passed away sud-
denly.
MT. McTaggart was born in Grey
Township and was in his 77th year.
He was married at Walton in 1904
to Margaret Johnston, who prede-
ceased him 15 years ago. He is
survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nel-
son Reid, MeKillop.
Farming in Grey Township until
1924, he went to Seaforth where
he lived four years, returning to
Walton where he spent the re-
mainder of his life. Deceased was
member of Duff's United Church
and also a member of the Session,
The funeral will be held Friday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from Duff's
Church, Walton, with Rev. W. M.
Thomas officiating. Interment will
be in Brussels cemetery.
LATE ISAIAH WITMER
,DASHWOOD.-Isiah ,Witmer, 78,
one of the best known farmers of
Hay townsitip, died . Monday in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter. His
wife, the former Mary !Gellman,
died in 1950.
He had farmed on the Goshen
Line for 37 years, ,amd was a mem-
ber of Dashwood Evangelical D.B.
Church.
Surviving are three daughters:
Mrs. • Roy Perkins, tDetrlsit, Mrs.
Fred Knott and Mrs. Floyd tPol-
lock, Lontion; four sons, Morley,
Detroit; -Gordon, Claire, Mick.;
Lambert, at home; Earl, Exeter;
two sisters, Mrs. James Smith,
Plattsville; Mrs. John Forest, Hen-
sall; one 'brother, Sylvanus, Zurich,
and seven great-grandchildren.
Resting at the Hoffman Funeral
Home in Dashwood, a family ser-
vice was held at 2 p.m. Thursday,
followed by a service in the Evan-
gelical U. B. Churn, Dashwood, at
2:30 p.m. The Rev. W. Kroft, of -
Related, and interment was made
in Dasbwood Evangelical .U. B.
Cemetery, Goshen Line.
LATE J. H. GRIEVE
E'XETaanes H. Grieve, 88,
one of the oldest and best known
residents of Exeter district, died
Monday in South -Huron, lictepital.
Born near Brussels, he came here
when a wing' man and for many
years conducted a tailor shop. Lat-
er, he travelled for a large Toronto
wholesale firm for several years,
and then came back to Exeter and
operated a restailrant.
Five years ago he went to Los
Angeles to make his home with his
• son, Latimer. After his son's death
last year, he returned to Exeter,
and made hie lime with his niece,
Mrs. John Luxton, Hist wife, the
former Emily Wood, died. 25 yeare
ago.
