DEATH of HARRY H. PRETTY
The death occurred on Friday,
November 13, at the home of his
son-in-law, Cannon Rowcliffe, of
Harry Herbert Pretty, following an
illness of four years.
In his 64th year, Mr. Pretty was
born in Montreal, and in December,
1917, was married to Clara Mac-
Kay, who survives, together with
five daughters: Mrs. Carmon Row-
cliffe, Mrs. Gordon Wright, .Sea -
forth; Mrs. O. L. Goyette, London;
Mrs. Dean Aldwinkle, Varna, and
Mrs, L. Brosseau, Windsor; one
son, Allan Pretty, .Seaforth, and a
brother, W. H. Pretty, Toronto.
Coming to Seaforth in 1925 from
Toronto, where he had been an in-
surance adjuster, he was well
and favorably known for his friend-
ly manner and for the sincere and
conscientious way in which he car-
ried out his responsibilities. For
many years he was head bookkeep-
er at John Boshart & Sons.
One who was particularly proud
of his home, Mr. Pretty spent as
much time as his health would per-
mit in completing and landscaping
his home in Egmondville. He was
a member of Britannia Lodge No.
170 and of St. Thomas' Anglican
Church.
The remains rested at the home
of .Mr. Rowcliffe, Goderich ,SteWest,
Seaforth, until Sunday when they
were removed to Box Funeral
Home, where services were con-
ducted by his minister, Rev. J. H.
James. During the service Mrs. F.

Awarded to Son of
Seaforth Resident
W. Gibson 'Mite, London, a -for-
mer resident of Seaforth, and son
of Mrs. Margaret White, town, has
received a Coronation Medal re-
cently. He is employed in the of-
fice of the Department of Veter-
ans' Affairs in London.
During the Second World War
Mr, White was in uniform for Ave
years, four of which he served ov-
erseae as Lieutenant-Colonel. Born
in Lucknow and coming here in
1921, he was awarded a scholarship
on his graduation from the Sea -
forth Collegiate Institute, From
1927 to 1931 he attended the Uni-
versity of Western Ontario College
of Education before teaching on the
staff of the Walkerviile Collegiate
as a classics specialist. He did' not
resume teaching on his return from
overseas.

Mrs. George Pepper spent Thursday
in London.
Mrs. Albert Roney arrived home.
Sunday afternoon from Stratford
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Gordon and
Donna and Mr. H. Gordon spent
Sunday with Mrs. J. Malcolm and
Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Malcolm.
Mrs. Balfour and Dalton had as
their guests on Sunday, Mr. and
Mrs. Leslie Robinson and Mr. and
Mrs. George Pepper, Mitchell.
Kling sang, being accompanied by
Mrs. John A. Cardno.
T,he pallbearers were Enos Bosh -
art, Louis Boshart, John Earle,
Lloyd Hoggarth, E. C. Boswell and
Robert Archibald. The flower -
bearers were Alex Boyes, Jack
Boyes, Grant- •Finnigan, Douglas
Rowcliffe, Clair Haney and Robert
Wright, Interment was in Maitland -
bank cemetery.

The bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Osmond Huckins, Gode-
rich Township, and the bridegroom
is a soft of Mt. and Mrs. Hartman
Hiusser, of Egmondrille.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was lovely in a floor -
length gown of nylon net over
white satin, with a jacket of French
lace with lily -point sleeves. Her
fingertip veil was caught in place
by a wreath of carnations, and she
carried: a cascade of red roses.
Miss Evelyn Grace Huckins, God-
erich, sister of the bride, as brides•
maid, wore a strapless gown of blue
nylon net over taffeta, topped by a
cape of French lace. Her headdress
w.as of matching nylon net, and
she carried yellow chrysanthemums
with streamers of blue and white.
Mr. Lawrence Marks, Hansen.,
was groomsman.
At the reception which followed
at the home of the bride's parents,
the bride's mother received, wear-
ing a mauve crepe dress, grey ac-
cessories and a corsage of yellow
chrysanthemums. She was assisted
by the bridegroom's mother, who
wore a navy crepe dress, matching
accessories and a corsage of yel-
low chrysanthemums.
.For a wedding trip to Niagara
Fails and Buffalo, the bride wore a
winter white wool dress, navy ac-
cessories, wine coat and a corsage
of carnations. On their ..eturn they
will reside in Seaforth.
Guests were present from Mit-
chell, ,Seaforth, Clinton, Hensel',
Goderich and Bayfield.

Mrs, Leo Fortune told The Ex-
positor on Tuesday that she found
dandelions in bloom on her lawn
that day.
Mrs. J. G. Taman, ,Selfridge Air
Base, has returned after spending
a week with Mr. and Mrs, E. H.

Lieut. Donald A. Grant has re-
turned from• England, where he
spent the past two years at the
Royal College of Science, and is
now visiting his brother, Mr. J. H.
Grant, and Mrs. Grant, prior to
being posted to the Directorate of
Armament Development at Ottawa.
Mrs, Arlen Shipley, London, spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs,
Dyke Wheatley in 'McKillop.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reaume and
son, Tony, .of 'Comber, were week-
end visitors of their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and 'Mrs. Neil Hod-
gen. They also visited other rela-
tives.
Mr. T. J. Whitney is visiting

Mrs. J. E. Keating has returned
home after spending some time in
Toronto.

a visit with his niece in Hamilton.
