IN INDIA, scientists have worked
out a way to cook food by sun -
power. A polished aluminum bowl
suspended above a cooking pot
directs the sun's rays to a mirror,
which reflects the heat to the bot-
tom of the pot. It sounds a bit
complicated to us — but the fact
is that the solar cooker turns out
a meal as fast as a 300 -watt
electric stove.
It's just one more indication
that food and aluminum go to-
gether — in containers, utensils,
foil and in the equipment used by
the dairying and food processing
industries. Aluminum Company
of Canada, Ltd. (Alcan)
devotional exercises by the Clinton
Auxiliary, Mrs. R. Eberhart, Sea -
forth, conducted an "In Memoriam"
service.
She spoke feelingly of those mem-
bers who have passed on, having
discharged life's tasks faithfully
and honorably, and expressed the
hope that the good work carried
on by them might be continued.
Site concluded by reading the
names of the departed ones. A
beautiful contralto solo was sung
by MTS. Clayton Edward.
The guest speaker, ;Mrs. Arthur
Hamilton, of Atwood, president of
the Hamilton and,, London Synodi-
cal, was introduced by Mrs. 1). J.
Lane, of Clinton. Mrs. Hamilton
chose as her subject, "First Things
First," and based her remarks on
the childhood of Jesus when He
was found in the temple by His
mother and in reply to her admoni-
tion, He said, "Wrist ye not that I
must be about my Father's , busi-
ness?"
Need of Christianity
She spoke of the multitudes in
distant lands in need of Christian -
ity; of the disappointment and
tragedies of rife. Saiv&tion is not
in culture or education,, but in
Christ alone. Christ (belongs to the
whole world. Every work in the
church is for the enrichment and
blessing of our souls.
The Arthur Circle presented a
short play, depicting the mission-
ary work in the church across Oan-
oda where many from foreignn
lands
have come to make their thomes.
The Mission Band conducted a
brief service at which their leader,
Miss D. Johnston, presented' Junior
life membership pins and certifi-
cates to Diane McConnell, Lorna
Pratt, Charlene Stowe and Audrey
Allison, who are now becoming
members of the C.G.I.T.
The meeting closed with a hymn
and the benediction.
Dad: "You young scalawag! I'll
teach you to make love to my
daughter!"
Suitor: "I wish you would, sir;
I'm not making much (headway."
