Signal Corps at London and left
for camp at Kingston on Monday.

Davis and family.
Mr. Harold Redden, Dresden, vis-
ited with his mother, Mrs. C. Hed-
den last week.
Sixteen babies were born at
South Huron Hospital, Exeter, from
September 1 to 9, inclusive. Some
record!
Mrs: T. C. Coates, Hensall, was
the lucky winner of $1,000 at the
Seaforth bingo Monday night. Mrs.
T. Butt and Mrs. A. Clark were also
money winners.
Mrs. Ferringo, New York, (nee
Helen Munn), Hensall, who has
been visiting with her mother, Mrs.
Robert Munn, was taken to Victor-
ia Hospital, London, isolation ward,
with polio. Her many friends wish
her a speedy recovery to health.
Mrs. George Hess, while fishing
in the old river in the Pinery, land-
ed a 26 -inch pike, 13 inches around
Mrs. Hess had an ordinary pole, but
had difficulty in landing the fish.
With the help of her husband, she
hauled the fish into the boat.
Miss Eleanor Cook returned to
London to resume her studies at
Western University.
Miss Jean Armstrong, London,
spent the weekend at her home
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McEwan and
Malcolm have returned from a va-
cation spent with relatives in Sault
Ste. Marie.

Attend Bigger Reunion
The park at Woodstock was the
setting for the annual !Bigger re-
union with members of the clan at-
tending from Tdronto, .Sarnia, Kit-
chener, Plattsville, Watford, Galt
and Hensall. Sports were enjoyed
and a delicious picnic supper was
served. Prizes for the oldest lady
present went to Mrs. Hoist, Baden,
and for the oldest gentleman, to
her husband. Youngest child was
J42dith Holst, Baden, 3% months.
Youngest grandmother was Mrs.
Elmer Doan, Plattsville. Attending
from Hensall were Mr. and Mrs.
George Hess.
Kathy Scane, seven, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scane, Hen-
sall, and pupil in Grade l at Hen -
sal public school, was stricken with
polio on Tuesday. One of her legs
was affected. The kindergarten
class, of which her mother is the
teacher, will be closed until fur-
ther notice. Best wishes are extend-
ed to Kathy for a speedy recovery
to health.
Miss Edith McEwan, London, a
former well-known. Hensall resi-
dent, is a patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London.

Enjoy Pot -Luck Supper
In Church Basement
The Women's Missionary Society
of Hensall United Church held a
pot -luck supper in the church base-
ment last week. A lovely meal was
served and enjoyed by the mem-
bers, after which Mrs. Cross, the
president, called the meeting to or-
der with use it the of the' hymn,
e
"Work, For the Night is Coming,"
and Lord's Prayer in unison.
Miss M. Ellis presented the de-
votional period, using as her medi-
tation an article ,by Mrs. McKillop,
"Jesus Shall Reign." Mrs. A. Alex-
ander led in responsive reading of
the scripture lesson. Prayer was
offered by Mrs. W. Henry and the
minutes read.
The thankoffering service for the
W.M.S. will be held the last Sun-
day in September. Rev. Maines,
Brucefield', will be guest speaker
at the morning service. Miss Gladys
Luker played a pleasing piano solo,
"I Love To Tell the Story." Mrs.
Cross voted thanks to Mrs. .A.
Joynt, Mrs. A. Clark and• those re-
sponsible for the arrangements.
