Meetings Here on Tuesday
The annual meeting of the Wo-
men' e Hospital Auxiliary to Scott
Memorial Hospital •will be held on
Tuesday, September 8, at the nurs-
es' residence, a,t 8:15 p.m. Annual
reports will be given. Anyone in-
terested in the' work will be made
welcome by the auxiliary.

In Summer Blooms, Plants
Pew may realize it, but one of
Seaforth's summer beauty spots is
the Seaforth District High School's
garden ---a place well worth the lit-
tle time and effort one may take to
stroll through it.
With a profusion of some 2,800
gladioli plants in bloom, colorful
perennial beds and carefully -laid
test plots, the garden holds a
wealth of visual pleasures for the
interested viewer. The man who
is responsible for the school gar-
den's beauty during the summer is

widow of the late Allan 'Rose, of

orial Hospital on -Monday,' August
3L, in her. 80th year.
Mrs. Ross was educated in Mc -
Killen schotils and was married
to Mr. Allan Ross, who •pass-
ed away one month 'ago. For many
years she served as -organist and
choir director of Cavan Church,
Winthrop, where she was a faith-
ful member.
Surviving are one brother,
Thomas Simpson, Windsor, and two
sisters, Mrs. Ellen Roes, Matheson,
Ont., and Mrs. Robert McGavin,
Winnipeg.
The remains rested at the G. A.
Whitney Funeral •Home, Seaferth,
where service was conducted on
Wednesday at 3 p.m. by Rev. H.
E. Livingstone, of Winthrop.
Interment was in Maitlandbank
cemetery, the ,pallbearers being
William Boyd, -Ed. Godkin, John
Boyd, Stanley Hillen, Gilbert Smith
and Ross Gordon. ,The flower -bear-
ers were Ed. Gertsch, Roy Elliott,
Carl Leonhardt, Ross Driscoll, Roy
Patrick, Boyd Driscoll and Mervin
Godkin.

ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Keating.

Mr. and Mrs. FranhaWalters left
Thursday on a motor trip to the
West Coast.
Mr. and Mrs. William Rogerson,
Tuckersmith, left_Friday for James-
town, New York, to visit relatives
there.

C. Nichols, Seaforth, was Miss
011ie Kowal, Winnipeg and Vancou-
ver, sister of Mrs. Nichols. Miss
Kowal is enroute to the Castle Har-
bour Hotel, Bermuda, to join her
sister, Mrs. H. J. Van Olthius, for-
merly of Massaee, Bahamas, and
Dordrecht, Hollagd.

he held September 15 in the new
Public School.
Many friends will regret to learn
that Mrs Fred Adams suffered a
slight stroke thia week and was
taken to Scott Memorial Hospital.
Mr, Donald Kerslake and son,
Bruce, Toronto, visited Mrs, W. E.
Kerslake this week.
Dr. Gordon Carter and his moth-
er, Mrs. Angus Carter, Guelph, were
guests of Mr, and Mrs. E. Geddes
and Mr. and Mrs, Russell Sproat

Scott Poultry Farm Wins
Prize in CNE Competition
Among the prize winners an-
nounced this week in the Canadian
National Eehibitiores egg competi-
tions was the Scott Poultry Farm,
Seaforth. Shell egg entries this
year were about equal to last year,
amounting to 106 30 -dozen cases.
Saskatchewan and Manitoba en-
tries were far in excess of any
previous year and they received a
good share of the prize money.

Grey Natives Reunited
• In Brussels After 52
Years Of Separation
Two brothers who haven't been
together for 52 years are reininis-
cing in Brussels over bygone ev-
ents these days after a reunion.
Edward Pollard, Brussels, hadn't
seen his brother, Joseph, New
Westminster, B.C.,. since he left
Ethel in 1901. They are sous of
the late Mr. and Mrs. William Pol-
lard, and were bornon the sixth
concession of Grey township. Both
find a great change jn the district
and; at.the old, homestead.
Edward, youngest of 13 children,
was, the first rural mail carrier to
werk out of Bruesels. For 15 years
he covered his 221% -mile route us-
ing 4 bicycle a great deal of the
time to spell of his •horse.
Balsam is a fast-growing tree.
