recent fire. So many deserve special thanks

to Fire Chief John Scott and the Seaforth
Fire Brigade for miraculously saving the
shed. Thanks are so inadequate to say
what we wish. But, most of all, we thank
God for our two girls who so bravely got
our herd of cows out when danger was

The annual' picnic of Hensall pub-
lic school. was held at Lions Park,
Seaforth, Thursday, June 25_
Bill Brock, Kippen, and Virginia
Kalmakoff, New Westminster, B.C.,
two representatives of the ,Cana-
dian Junior Red Cross. to attend the
Coronation, were interviewed over
CIBC. Toronto, by Ruth Dennis on
Monday morning. Both enjoyed
meeting the 32 delegates from the
Commonwealth. From their front
seat vantage they had three views
of the Queen and her golden coach.
They stated they were proud to be
Canadians.
In recognition, of being the first
twin 'born in the new South Huron
Hopital, Exeter, hospital officials
presented silver cups last week to
the twin sons of Mr. and, Mrs. Gor-
don Hess, Zurich. The twins, Gary
Wayne and Larry Gordon, were
born May 28.
Mr. and Mrs. David Morrison, of
New Westminster, )3.C., spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. George
Hess, Mrs. Morrison, the former
Stella Pettigrew, was married June
3 and flew east by plane, and will
make the return trip by motor.
Mrs. Morrison is a sister of Mrs.
Hess.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold- • Hedden,
Bobby and Jimmy, of Dresden, were
weekend visitors with Mrs. C. Hed-
den and Herb.
Mr. Ralph Gram, Lansing, Mich,
was a weekend guest with Mr. and
Mrs. T. J. Sherritt.
Mrs. Stewart Bell, who under-
went a major operation in Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, Mon-
day, is doing as well as can be
expected.
Good prices were realized at the
auction sale of' the late Miss Bar-
bara Forrest last 'Saturday. The
residence was purchased by Mr.
George Moir.
Clarence Reid has purchased the
post office block on Main St., with
adjoining seven -room house and
three-room apartment.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daman
were in London attending the fun-
eral of Mr. Joseph Glazier, uncle
of Mrs. Daman's, who died in Vic-
toria Hospital, London. Funeral
service was held last Friday. Mr.
and Mrs. Dayman also spent a cou-
ple of days with their daughters
and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. El-
gin Johnston and Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Baker, London.
Mrs. Sarah Glazier, Clinton, 86,
mother of Mrs. Robert Dayman, of
town, is in Clinton Hospital suffer-
ing a fractured hip, the result of a
fall in her home recently. Mrs.
Glazier is coming along nicely.
Mr. Robert Cooper and MT: and
Mrs. Stewart McQueen motored to
Hastings last' week and spent sev-
eral days with Mrs. Jones.
Mrs. Ed. Manes, Toronto, will
spend part of the summer as the
guest of 'Mrs. Bertha Bell, She is
expected to arrive on Saturday of
this week.

na, of Blenheim, spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mc-

Many attended the funerals of
the late Mrs: Janet Ross .in Clin-
ton on Friday and the late Miss
Jessie Grainger in Seaforth on Mon-
day. Both burials were in Baird's
cemetery.
Pupils of S.S. No, 10, Stanley,
and their teacher journeyed by bus
to Goderich Tuesday, where they
visited the Museum, waterfront,
salt works, Bisset's factory, Gode-
rich Signal -Star and other points of
interest.
Decoration service, conducted by
the local I.O.O.F., was held Sunday1
afternoon in Baird's cemetery,
where members, assisted by Legion
members and Rebekahs, decorated
the graves of departed members.
Rev. W. J. Maines conduoted mem-
orial services following the decora-
tion. There was a large attend-
ance.

A birthday party was held for
Bonnie Welgtun, town. It Fri-

annual school picnic Monday eve-

Presbyterian VMS Has
June Meeting in Church
Tuesday Afternoon
The June meeting of the Senior
Auxiliary of the W.M.S. was held
in First Presbyterian Church Tues-
day, Mrs. D. G. Campbell presid-
ing.
Reports of various officers were
read and adopted. It was announc-
ed that the fall rally will be held
in Goderich.
Mrs. J. W. Thompson's group was
in charge of the program, Mrs. R.
Eberhart presiding. Following a
.prayer -and' hymn, 'a Psalm was
'read by Mrs. J. C. Greig and a med-
itation by Mrs. G. Hills. Mrs.
Butts sang a solo, accompanied by
Mrs. McGregor. Mrs. Thompson
and Mrs. Nellie MolVfillan portray-
ed the evolution of religion in
Africa.
The offering was received by
Mrs. McLaughlin and the meeting
closed with prayer. An executive
meeting followed, when arrange-
ments were discussed for the Aug
ust meeting.
WINTHROP
The WA.' and W.M.S. of Cavan
Church will meet on Thursday, July
2, in the schoolroom of the church.
Note change of day. This meeting
is on Christian Citizenship.
The Helping Hand Mission Band
will meet on Saturday, June 27, in
the church.
