LATE MATTHEW J. LYNCH
The 'death took place in Scott
Memorial Hospital on Monday, May
11, of Matthew Joseph Lynch, a
well-known resident of McKillop
Township, ,Seaforth and Dublin, in
his 78th year.
A son of the late ,John Lynch
and Sara Manley. A farmer all his
life, until he retired a few years
ago, he had lived with his sister,
Miss Katherine Lynch in McKillop.
The deceased spent some time in
the "hospital last fall and had been
confined there for the past two
months.
Surviving are two sisters, Mgs.
Henry (Sara) McIver, Seaforth, and
Miss Katherine Lynch, Dublin.
The funeral was held Wednesday
morning froth W. J. Cleary's 'Pun-
eral home to St. Columban Church
for Requiem High Mass, sung by
Father Francis Moylan, S.F.M., of
Scarboro Bluffs.
The pallbearers were Joseph
Moylan, John Moylan, James Shea,
John Shea, James Sloan and Ray-
mond ,Murray. Interment was in
St• Co;lumbari cemetery.
LATE JOHN T. ELGIE
Following a short illness, John
T. Elgie, former well-known resi-
dent of Tuckersmith, and later of
Seaforth, passed away suddenly on
Tuesday hi his 174th year,
Mr. Elgie was the• eldest son of
the late Itr. and Mrs. William Elgie
and lived. in' Tuckersmith until he
retired to Seaforth eight years ago,
He served •on the Tuckersmith
Council for a term of six years, and
attended' school at S.S. No. 9, Tuck-
ersmith. He was married in 1909
to Lena Ebenhart, Hibbert Town-
ship, who survives. Also surviving
are two daughters, Mrs. Glenn Slav -
in, tHensall, and Miss Thelma El-
gie, at home; one sister, Mrs.•John
McLachlan, Egmondville, and one
brother. Robert J. Elgie, Tucker -
smith. A son predeceased him in
infancy, also a sister, Mrs. John
Forrest.
The funeral was held from his
coronation Tea

lowing the service the'cortege pro-
ceeded to,Uensall Union Cemetery.

Melvin -Cooper, • and Gerald Moir.,
Flower -bearers were all grandchil-
dren of the deceased: Thelma

LATE JAMES HILL
A former resident of ITibbert
Township pa'ksed away on Satur-
day, May 9, at his home on Main
St., Seaforth, ` in the person of
James Hill, in his 80th year;
Mr. Hill was born in Hibbert and
was a successful farmer on Lot 27,
Concession 8, where he lived his
entire life. "Mertog .Stock Farm"
was well known, for 'the thorot;gli-
bred Shorthorn cattle and Clydes-
dale 'horses that were raised there
by both himself and his father, the
late David Hill. A quiet, humorous
man, Mr. Hili was known to 'his
many friends as a good neighbor
and a kind friend. •
Married in 1896 to Sarah Ann
Harburn, who survives, there are
also left to mourn an only son,
David Ivan Hill, a teacher in Sine
coe.High School, and three grand-
children: David,, Elinore and Bar-
bara Hill. all of Simcoe. IMr. • and
tMrs. Hill moved to Seaforth in
1949 where they have made many
friends. He was a faithful mem-
ber of First Presbyterian Church
and also an elder of Cromarty Pres-
byterian Church for 29 years,
The funeral was held Monday
from the G. A. Whitney Funeral
Home at 2 p.m., with Rev. :D. Glenn
Campbell conducting the service.
During the service Mrs. F. Kling
and Mr. F.. E. Willis sang "Softly
and Tenderly," accompanied by
Mrs. James A. Stewart.
The pallbearers were Ed. But-
son, Leslie Butson, John Sadler,
Dr. F. S. Harburn: M. , McKellar
and 'Harvey Leslie, Flower -bearers
were Henry.Hanburn,.Tack Butson,
William Butson, Frank Bruce, Nel-
son Harburn, Irwin Trewartha,
Murray Harburn, Ernest Harburn
and Norman Harburn. •Interment
