LATE ROBERT MOIR HENS.ti.LL.—Robert Moir, former Hensall resident, . who gained fame. for copying the Bible in shorthand at the, ase of 00, died Christmas `Day at Crystal Cit, Man, Mr. Moir who was. 98, laid claim to being the oldest laying graduate of the University of Toronto. He received his B.A. degree in 1882. Born in Ireland, Mr. Moir came to Canada at an early. age. After a teaching career in Hensel', Brampton and the United States, he returned to Hensall. In 1950 he moved to Manitoba to live with his nephew, Stanley McGill."' He was a member of the United Church'. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Colin McGill, Neelin, Man. Funeral services were held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hen- sallr Tuesday, December 30, at 2 p.m., Rev. W. J. Rogers officiating. Burial was in Exeter cemetery. LATE MRS. THOMAS RYAN ERUSSFJ.S--Requiem High Maas was sung at Se Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Brussels, Satdr- -day, Dec.' 27, by Rev. Father Dur- ant, urant, for the repose of .tire soul of Mary Bridget Sloan, beloved wife of Thomas Ryan, Sr. Mrs. Ryan was born in St. Col- umban 79 years ago, and had re- sided in this community for some 35 years or more. Mrs..yan passed away suddenly on her way home from Mass on Christmas Day, a terrible shock to her husband, family and all those who knew her. Kind neighbors not- ified her family in Toronto and De- troit and they were home within a few hours. Mrs. Ryan leaves to mourn a Loving husband, two daughters, Clara and Bernadette, Toronto,aid two sons, Edward, Detroit; Tom, Brussels; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; also a host of true friends and neighbors. She was laid to rest in St. Am- brose R.C. Cemetery, Brussels. Pall- bearers were Messrs. Sloan, Gay- nor, Connolly, Cudmore, Evans and Jordan. LATE M. J. REEDY BEECHWOOD. — M. J. Reedy passed away very suddenly: He was last seen by his nephew, Peter E. Maloney, on Monday; Dee. 22, at noon. He bad been enjoying• good health for some time. Tuesday evening another nephew, Wilfred Maloney, called with his mail and found him dead, sitting in a chair. beside the stove. Michael John, as he was known to his friends, was, born on the Mc. Killop . township farm where he died. He was 80 years old last September 23. He spent all his life on this same farm, and lived alone from 1895 to 1952. In later years he seldom left the farm. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. John Maloney, Seaforth; also six nephews. The body: rested at the W. J. Cleary Funeral Home, Seaforth, from where the funeral took place Friday, Dec. 26, to St. Columban cemetery. Service was conducted by Rev. Father McCowell of St. Columban Roman Catholic Churoh. The pallbearers were six grand -nephews: Martin, Clarence, Frank, LOUIS, Stephen and Ray Maloney. The. following verse was found in his personal effects, written in October, 1942: When I am dead and in my grave. And all my bones are rotten, This little book will tell my name When I am quite forgotten.
