The Tuckersmith Ladies' Club
will hold their monthly meeting
next Wednesday at the home of

Elizabeth Lapp, of Tiffany Perfum-
ers, in a lecture delivered at the
Legion Hall, Hensall, Monday eve-
ning, attended 'by over 70.
Miss Lapp said:' "The' greatest
problem facing 'Canadian women
today lies in the condition of the
skin. It is not possible to get -the
effect desired from properly ape
plied make-up unless the skin is in
a healthy, smooth condition to re-

The South Hurbn Women's
Teachers' Federation held a dinner
meeting in the .United Church
Hall, Exeter. Miss Isabel T. Shar-
man, Goderich, and Miss Mattie
Ellis, Hensall,. were honored with
the presentation of the honorary
membership certificates awarded by
the 'Federated Women Teachers'
Association of Ontario to those wo-
men "who have served the cause
of 'Canadian education with, honor
and dignity and have brought 'pres-
tige to 'bear on the teaching pro-
fession by their good works" The
presentation to Miss Ellis was
made by Miss O'Brien, Zurich.
Tuckersmith Church
Has 90th Anniversary
Many friends and former mem-
bers of Turner's United' Church,
Tuckersmith, gathered at the old
church Sunday to celebrate, with
the present congregation, the
church's 90th anniversary. .Decora-
tions of autumn fruit and vege-
tables and a large basket of mums
made a pleasant setting for the
services.
Rev, M. G. Newton, Holmesville,
was guest speaker for both ser-
vices. Rev. Glen A. Eagle, Clin-
ton, assistedat the evening .ser-
vice. Special music was provided
by the choir under the leadership
of Mrs. Ernie 'Crich. Mrs. Bill Cox,
porter's Hill, sang a solo, as well
as assisting the choir.

Saturday, October 25, at 3 p.m.,
when Helen 'Marion, only daughter
of Mr. and :Firs. Ross Love, Hen-
sall, was united in marriage to
Kenneth Rosswel McKay, son of
Mr. and Ofrs. Edward McKay, Kip -
pen. The Rev, Norman McLeod
performed the ceremony.

bridesmaids, wore similarly styled
gowns of shrimp and sea green ny-
lon net over taffeta, ballerina
length, All carried muffs and wore
headdresses of baby mums in

of the groom, was flower girl in

with bows and• trimmed with lace,
She carried a flower basket of rose
petals, which she scattered as she
preceded the bride up the aisle.
Attending the groom was the
bride's Mealier, Robert Love. To-

A reception was held in the
church parlors, the bride's mother
receiving in cinnamon illusion lace -
wills Matching feather hat and cor-
sage of gold and bronze mums. The

For the wedding trip to the Unit-
ed States the bride donned an ir-

Linda Roe, Atwood, was the
newer girl wearing a long taffeta
frock in peach shade, fashioned
with full skirt, fitted Waist, Peter
Pan collar and lantern sleeves. The
frock was buttoned down the back
and was finished with a large self
bow. The attendants all carried
nosegays of :bronze chrysanthe-
mums and ivy..
Robert Ritter, Woodstock, was
ring bearer and carried the ring
on a white satin pillow to match
the 'bride's gown. Mr. Arnold Voll,
Milverton, was best man, and ush-
ers were Mr. Albert Kniesz, Milver-
ton, and Mr. John Oldfield, Sea -
forth.

For a honeymoon trip to Ottawa
and other centres, the bride trav-
elled in an afternoon dress of cop-
per tan trieatina with sailor collar
trimmed with beige, embroidered
in brown, and full skirt. She wozre
a green hat, hag and gloves, brown
shoes and scarf, and brown musk-
rat coat. -
On their return Mr. and Mrs.
Swint will reside in 'Milverton.

21, of Emma Ford, wife of the late
A. J. Hummel, Millville, Pa,
Mrs. Hum'mei was born in Ttiek-
ersmith Township, where she at-
tended SS. 1, Tuckersmith. She
went to Westervelt Business 'Col-
lege, London,"and later held book-
keeping positions in Seaforth and
Ailsa Craig before going to Cas-
silton, ND., where she met her
future husband, a. native of Pennsyl-
vania.
Shortly after their marriage they.
went to 'Bloomsburg, Pa.., 'where 'Mr,
Hummel started a lumber business
which was later established in Mill-,
vine. Mr. Hummel paid tribute to
the part played by his wife, :a
clever business w$tman, in making
hise n
deavor
sasuccess.
After
the
death of her husband four years,,
ago, Mrs. Hummel moved to
Bloomsburg, where she resided at
the time of her death. :She was as
devout wife and mother; with an
abundance of kindness and charity.
Surviving are her daughter, Kate,
wife of Dr. P. M. Irey, Bloomsburg;
a son, James A., Philadelphia, and
one sister, Mrs. John Bolton, Hem-'
sail. Among those who paid lase
