Jacob - Cox. — A quiet wedding
took place in Emmanuel Evangeli-
cal United Brethren Church, Seb-
ringville, when Rev. Howard L.
Brox officiated at a ceremony unit-
ing
niting in marriage Miss Isabella Cox
and Mr. William Jacob. The altar
was beautifully decorated ' with
mixed summer flowers. Tb,,e bride,
formerly of Seaforth, was attended
by 'Mrs. Sarabel Webster, Sea -
forth. Mr. Midford Litt, R.R. 2,
Mitchell, was best man. The bride
wore a street -length frock in rose
shade with insets of lace and a
picture 'hat. A deep pink corsage
completed' her ensemble. The
bride's attendant chose an after-
noon frock in similar shade to that
worn by the bride 'with a pink rose
corsage. The couple will make
their home at ° the Jacob residence,
R.R. 5, Stratford.

Death of John A. Bain. — John
Alexander Bain passed away in
Galt General Hospital on Thursday,
July 3, following an illness of over
a year's duration. Mr. Bain was a
former teller on the staff of–the
Canadian Bank of Commerce here
and was well known to the young-
er set of 1917. At the time of his
death he was connected with the
Bank of Commerce in Montreal, but
had returned to his home in April
when he was taken ill, later going
to Galt Hospital. Surviving are his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Bain,
of Ayr; his wife, the former Myrtle
De Witt; one daughter, Mrs. B. H.
Martin, Montreal, and one son,
William, of Ayr; also three broth-
ers, William, Wingham; Charles,
Ayr, and' Robert Toronto, and one
sister, Mrs. C. B. Farnham, Hamil-
ton. The body was taken to Mont-
real Friday and funeral services
were held Monday with interment
there.

this week attending the funeral of
the late Earl Van Egmond.
• Senator W. H. Golding and
granddaughter, Deirdre Marks, of
Ottawa, are spending the holidays
at his home.
• Group Captain and Mrs. A. J.
Atkinson and daughter, Mary, of
Late Earl Van Egmond. — Earl
Van Egmond, one of the last de-
scendants of the late Colonel An-
thony Van Egmond, founder of Eg-
mondville, passed away Saturday,
July 5, in his 62nd year. He suf-
fered a stroke two days before, and
was thought to have been ill some
time before he was discovered. He
attended public school in Egmond-
ville and later at Seaforth Collegi-
ate Institute. He studied music,
serving in Egmondville church as
organist for a long period of time.
Earlier, he was a clerk in Seaforth
post office, where he served for a
number of years. Surviving are one
sister, Mrs, Moore, of Flint, Mich.,
and one brother, Oscar Van Eg-
mond, of Tisdale, Sask.; also a
niece, Mrs. Cecil Adams, and two
nephews, Rex and James McGre-
gor, Egmondville, Mr. Van Eg-
mond was a member of the I.O:O:F.
and lived in the home of the late
Anthony Van Egmond until he re-
tired in 1924. He was a collector
of antiques, and loved ' gardening
and working among the flowers.
The funeral was held Monday at 2
p.m. from the Box Funeral Home,
with Rev. A. W. Gardiner, of Eg-
mondville Church, conducting the
service: The male quartette, J. T.
Scott, F. E. Willis, M. R. Rennie
and D. L. Reid, sang "Crossing the
Bar" and "My Heavenly Home," ac-
companied by Mrs. Rennie. Inter-
ment was in Egmondville cemetery.
The pallbearers were Norman Mac-
Lean, E. Y. Chesney, George Mun-
roe, Roy McGeoch, Arthur Nichol-
son and Cleve Coombs,

Sorrow was cast over the village
last week when it was discovered
Earl Van • Egmond had suffered a
heavy stroke and passed away on
Saturday. Mr. Van Egmond had
not' been in the chest ' of health for
some time. HIS passing was a
shock to the community.
Messrs. Norman 'MacLean and
Rueben Stevens went to Barrow
Bay. Mrs. MacLean and children,
who have been holidaying there, re-
turned home with them.
Mrs. Thos. Barton, who spent a
few days at the Listowel Centen-
nial, has returned home.
Miss K. Dalrymple, of Glencoe,
visited with her father, eMr. Robt.
Dalrymple and 'Mrs. Dalrymple,
Mrs. George Pearce, who has
been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Dalrymple, returned to her home
in St. Catharines.
Miss Constance Rudolph, Toron-
to, and Mr and Mrs. Wm. Moore,
Flint, Mich., attended the ,funeral
of the late Earl Van Egmond Mon-
day.
