Jack Pepper was ilnown as a great
curler, an enthusiastic baseball pro-
moter, and a lover of 'harness ;horse
racing. He had much to do with

and ran for mayor in 1947, but was
defeated. Left to mourn his death
are his widow; one son, George,
and two brothers, William 'Pepper,
of Toronto, and Wesley Pepper, of
London. There are two grandchil-
dren. Interment was made in Del-
oraine cemetery.

A successful strawberry festival

known." The 'program ended by
singing "Blest Be the Tie."

members present. Mrs. Freeman

and Mrs. H. Ford and Mrs. William
Johns., and Scripture by Mrs. A.
Pym. Mrs. C. Gilfillan led in pray-
er. Sylvia Johns played an instru-
mental and President Mrs. H. Del -
bridge of W.M.S. and Mrs. Ross
Skinner were iil"charge of the busi-
ness. An ice cream 'social is to be
held on July 23 in the church.
Mrs. H. Bell, Mrs. Ken Johns, Mrs.
J. Coward, Mrs. F. Skinner, Mrs.
G. Johns and Mrs. W. Routly, are
the lunch committee, and Mrs. Phil
Herm in charge of the program.
Lunch was served.
The W.I. held their meeting hi
the hall on Monday evening. The
president, Mrs. H. Hunter, was in
the chair. Roll call was answered
by something needed on the farm
home. The motto was given by Mre.
Ken Hern, "tio not look at the
nearest hill, climb it." 'Plans were
made for a picnic at Seaforth Lions
Park in July. 'Rath Skinner gave
a -report on the district annual.
