Brussels, who delighted her Audi-

ed on the Apostles' Creed. Mrs. J.
E. Daley thanked the speaker for
her splendid address, and the meet-
ing closed with prayer by Mrs. I1.
Glenn Campbell. Lunch was serv-
ed and a social hour followed, when
the members met Mrs. Fulton, who
has recently come from Ireland.
W. M. S. Has Thankoffering.—
The Women's Missionary Society
of First Presbyterian Church held
their Eas.te Thankoffering meeting
Tuesday afternoon. Sixty-five mem-
bers, friends and visitors :attended
this, interesting meeting. Mrs, D.
Glenn Campboll, the president, pre-
sided, and opened the meeting with
an Easter reading. The hymn, "The
Day of Resurrection," was followed
with prayer by Mrs: David Ritchie.
Mrs. Alex' Nimmo and a group of
ladies from the. Women's :Mission-
ary Society of St. Andrew's Church,
Wingham, presented the program
for this meeting. Miss Kathleen,
Pringle gave the Scripture reading -
and meditation. Mrs. Leslie For-
tune led in prayer. A solo by Mrs.
Ross Hamilton, "God, Make Me
Kind," was followed by a reading
by Mrs. Mowbray. Mrs. Alex Nim -
mo was the, guest speaker and she
gave a -Very fine address on the
"Crucifixion and the Resurrection,"
concluding with a reading, "Christ
Wants the Best." A duet, "What
a Friend We have in Jesus," was
given by Mrs., Ford_and,Mrs._Aitchi-
son. Mrs 3. W. Thompson and, Mrs,
D. G. Campbell thanked the visi-
tors for their fine program. The
offering ,.was $101. • The singing of
the hymn, "Man of Sorrows," and
prayer by Mrs. Campbell concluded
the" Meetfn:g:-Th: social comtuit-
tcc, convened by ,Mrs, ..George D.

Holds Easter Thankoffering.—
The Easter Thankoffering of .the
W.M.S. of Northside United Church
was held Tuesday evening. Mrs.
P. B. Moffat opened the meeeting
with a poem entitled, `Churches,"
after which , the hymn, "The
Church's One Foundation," was
sung. Mrs, Herald Lawrence led in
prayer, and the president, Mrs. Hel-
mar Snell, welcomed all to,. the
meeting, especially the members of
the Junior W.M.S. The minutes of
the previous meeting were Peace by
Mrs. Ches. Henderson, the secre-
tary. It was decided that the
spring meeting be held on the 29th,
and not the 22nd. Clothes for the
bale for overseas relief are to be
left at the home of Miss A. Lawr-
ence by April 29. Thank -you notes
were read by Mrs. Norman Knight.
The supply convener, Mrs. H.
Shannon, read a letter relative to
the supply needs. Hymn 298, "Jesus
Thy Joy," was sung and Mrs. Ross
Murdie led in prayer. The Scrip-
ture Iesson, taken from the 28th
chapter of Matthew, was read by
Mrs. William Bali: A pleasing solos
Hold Thou My Hand " was sting
by Mrs. Jas. A. Stewart, accompan-
ied by Mrs, B. F. Christie. Mrs. R.
Lawson introduced the speaker of
:;he evening, Miss Marian Donald.
of . Stratford, who told of her ex-
periences in China. Mrs. Norman
Knight moved a vote of thanks to
the speake'r, which was seconded
by Mrs. 'Charles Pinder, the Junior
W.M.S. president. A piano solo was
rendered- by Mrs, Peter Dunlop, End
the meeting cloned with the hymn,
"Jesus Shall .Reign." Mrs. H. Snell
pronounced the benediction. Lunch
was served by the members of the
,social committee. The offering
amounted to $130.70,

Mr, Douglas F. Huddleston, of

ice blue lace and net over taffeta,
and carried a bouquet of pink rose-

Death of Miss'Mary F, Cooper.—'
In failing health' for the past two
and a half 'weeks; there passed
away at Victoria Hospital, London,
on Wednesday, March 26, ,Mary
Florence Cooper. Miss Cooper was
born in Tuckersmith, the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs, Sam Coop-
er, and attended' school at S.S. No.
10, Stanley. A dressmaker by trade
she continued in this work for
some years after coming to this
district over fifty years ago, Sur-
viving are two sisters, Mrs,, F. A.
Hambly, of Staffa, and 'Mies Ida
Cooper, Seaforth. The funeral yviil
take. place Saturday from the C. A.
Whitney Funeral Home, with Rev,
D. A. MaoMil4an, og, Northside
United Church, conducting the ser;
vices. Interment will take., place in
Maitlh.ndbank cemetery.
