Funeral of Francis Hunt. - The
funeral of the late Francis (Frank,
Sr,) Hunt, who died last Wednes-
day, was held Friday afternoon
from the G. A. Whitney Funeral
Home with Rev. D. A. ''MacMillan,
of Northside -•'United Church, ' con-
ducting the servl'ce. The pallbear-
ers were Clifford Hunt, Prank
Hunt, Homer Hunt, Thos. W. Mc-
Millan, M. McKellar and Roy 'Dun-
gey- Interment was in 0Vlaitland-
bank cemetery.
Brother -in -Law Dies in Michigan.
-Mr. hares Austin Whitman, of
Lansing. Mich., passed away Sun-
day, Marche, at 'his home after two
days' illness. He had been in' fail-
ing (health for some tine. lie de-
ceased. was born in Delhi, Mich.,
and moved to Lansing when he
was 20 years of age. Surviving are
his wife,.: formerly Mary .Amelia:
Sturdy, of Goderich Twp.; one
daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson,
and a son, Harold H. Whitman, of
Lansing. The funeral was held
Wednesday, :March 12. Attending
the funeral from Seaforth was Mrt;.
George Connell, a sister of Mr.
Whitman -
Brother Dies in 'Detroit =Wot•c}
was •receiived bere of the death in
Detroit of Gordon MacKay on Sat-
urday evening, at the age df 53.
He was a veteran of the First
World War, in which he was gass-
ed, and from which he suffered
the rest of his' life. Mr. MacKay
was born in Egmondville, the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mac-
Kay. He is survived by his wife,
three sons, Robert and Thay ne, of
Detroit, and Gordon, U.S. Navy,
California, and one daughter, San-
dra, Detroit, One son, Charles,
predeceased him five years ago. Al-
so surviving are one brother, Hugh
MacKay, of Bayfield, and four 'sis-
ters: Mrs. Mary Cameron, :Sea -
forth; Mrs. H. Pretty and Mrs, W.
J. Finnigan, Egmondville, and Mrs.
Lorne Pethick, of New Westmin-
ster,, B.C. Those from Canada at-
tending the funeral were . Mrs.

ker, �uTilin, was badly bruised late
Monday night when she was in
collision with a car that police said
was driven by John Krausltopf, R.R.
1, Dublin, in an accident on the
Main -Street of Dublin.
The girl was walking along the
street, southbound,,, in company
with: a woman, police said, when a
Southbound car, driven by Kraus-
kopf, and a northbound truck
rived at the point of the street in
question at about the same time.
The girl was attended' by a • Sea -
forth doctor and allowed to return
home. Provincial Constable J.
Lightfoot, Stratford detachment,
investigated.
Celebrates --Berth-day-
Mrs.Mrs. Barbara Hollandcelebrated
her 88th •birthday 'Monday at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. John
Flynn. Mrs, Holland is in good
health and reads the newspaper ev-
ery day. She has five sons, Leo and
Thomas, Windsor; George and Ger-
ald, Dublin, and John, St. Colum -
ban; three daughters, Sister 'Steph-
anie of the Ureuline Sisters, Chat-
ham; Mrs. Jas, F. Carlin, Beech-
wood, and, Mrs. John Flynn, with
whom she lives, ,Mrs. Holland re-
ceived many messages of congratu-
lations from her many friends. A
family dinner was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Flynn in (honor of
the occasion.
Escape Serious Injury
Two Dublin men miraculously es-
caped serious injury late Monday
when the car in which they were
riding went out of control and
crashed into several trees along
No. 8 Highway about one mile west
of Stratford, The car was consid-
ered a total loss. Patrick J. Woods,
20, said to be the driver of the car,
and passenger J. Meagher, receiv-
ed facial and hand lacerations and

Death of Mrs. John Ritchie
Ailing with arthritls for over 20
years and seriously ill f r the past
six months, dblrs. John, Ritchie, of
Grey ToWnsh'ip, passed away at her
home on Sunday, in her 76th year.
Born in Grey Township, Isabelle
McAlister was the daughter of the
late Mr. and '.Mrs. Wm. McAlister,
and was married in 1904 to Mr.
John Ritchie, and had lived all her
life in this district, where she was
well and favorably kndw'n, Mrs.
Ritchie attended school in.. Grey,
and was a member of Duff's
Church, Walton. ,Surviving are her
husband; three -sons, Clifford Rit-
chie, at home; James Ritchie, of
London, and 'Kenneth Ritchie, of
Seaforth two daughters, Mrs. Cecil
Lyddiatt and Mrs. Walter Short -
reed, of Grey, and one brother, W.
J, McAlister, of Ayr, Ont. The fun-
eral was held from her late resi-
dence, -Lot 10, Con, 17, Grey, on
Tuesday afternoon With Revd, M.
Thomas, of Duff's United Church,
Walton, conducting the service. In-
terment was in Brussels• cemetery,
the pallbearers, being Andrew Turft-
bull, Donald Buchanan, Hugh John-
