Dies in Buffalo.—Word has been
received here of the death of Jas.
H. Woods, husband of Mabel Pink-
ney, a former resident, and daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Pinkney. Mr. Woods passed away
on Monday at Buffalo following
two severe strokes. Mr. and Mrs.
Woods *ere married in 1933 and
had lived in Buffalo. Miss Clara
Pinkney and Mr. George Pinkney
left Wednesday to attend the fun-
eral, which was held on Thursday.
Dies in Eatonia. — The sudden
death occurred in Eatonia, Sask.,
on Thursday, Feb...14, of Isabelle
Wilson, widow of the late Dr. Jos.
J. Lord, of Victoria, B.C. Mrs,
Lord was the daughter of the late
John G. Wilson and Agnes Dickson
Scott and was born in Seaforth.
She received her education a'G the
Seaforth public school and Colleg-
iate Institute. She was visiting her
daughter•in Eatonia at the time of
her passing. Surviving are a daugh-
ter, Frances, Mrs. B. K. Hansen, Of
Eatonia, and a sister, Marjory,
Mrs. L. W. Topham, Victoria, B.C.
Death of Mrs. Samuel Carter.—
The death took place in Seaforth
on Tuesday of a well-known resi-
dent in the person of EEmmie Dem -
bow,‘, widow of the late Samuel
Carter, in her 81st year. Mrs. Car-
ter had been in' the hospital for
some time and had been in failing
health for the past six months.
She was born in Goderich Town-
ship, and was married in Seaforth
59 years ago to Mr. Carter, who
passed away in 1943. Surviving are
one daughter, Miss Myrtle Carter,
at home, and one brother, Robert
Dembow, of Brandon, Man. 'Be-
fore coming to Seaforth in 1928,
Mr. and Mrs. Carter lived in Brus-
sels. Mrs, Carter was a member
of Northside United Church. The
funeral was held Thursday after-
noon from her late residence, North
Main St., with Rev. D. A. MacMil-
lan officiating at the service, Miss
Ruth Ciuff and Mrs. J. A. Stewart
sang "Dear To We Heart of God"
during the service. Interment was
in Brussels cemetery, pallbearers
being Jas. Carter, Jas. Henderstin,
R. Carter, Jas. Riley, Wm. ether'
and M. McKeIIar. Flowerbearers
were Rosa Gordon and -C. Lrl'ckhead.

met in the classroom of the church
on Sunday, -Feb. 10. The Meeting
opened by singing "God Save the
Queen,” and Miss IVIary Whyte
read the Scripture lesson. The min-
utee of last meeting were read
and adopted. Roll call was an-
swered by eleven membetle. Miss
Fern Dexter contributed an instru-
mentaI and the collection was re-
ceived by Helen McIlwain, which
amounted to $1.10. It was decided
to have the Y.P.U. of Winthrop
Church present their play on Mar.

Addison. The study book was tak-

east of Seaforth, consisting of 74

Busy Beavers Meet
The seventh meeting of the• Busy
Beavers was held at the home of
Catherine Campbell with nine girls
present, Billie Campbell played a
lovely violin selection to open the
meeting. The minutes of the last
meeting were read and the roll
call was taken by Mary Hicknell,
The assistant leader took charge
of the meeting in the absence of
the leader, who gave notes•to copy
for the books. The meeting closed
with a square dance.
A "work meeting was held on
Tuesday at Mary Hicknell's, The
minutes of the last meeting were
read and 12 girls answered the roll
call by naming their favorite song.
The remainder of the evening was
spent working on dresser scarfs.

Joseph Kale, with the president,
Mrs.' Wm. Ryan, .opeeing the meet-
ing with prayer. The minutes as
read were adopted. Thank -you let-
ters and correspondence were read,
which included a letter from West-
minster Hospital, acknowledging
the many gifts received: at Christ-
mas. The treasurer's report show-
ed a substantial balance. A discus-
sion followed on a suitable way of
raising funds. A vete of tlfgnks was
tendered to Mrs. Kale for the use
of her home, and the meeting clos-
ed with prayer, after whidh lunch
was served and ' a social time
spent.
Death of Mrs. John Dalton
Mary Cronin, widow ofthe late
John, Dalton, passed away at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Prank
Bowman1 in McKillop, on ,Monday,
Feb. 18, in her 86th year, foIlow-
ing an illness extending over two
years. Mrs. Dalton was 'born. in
Hibbert and was married there to
John Dalton, who passed away a
number of years ago, but She is
