Mr. Jarvis Horton. who suffered
1 •severe heart seizure while walk-
ing to the bus depot, is still •in a
i.very serious condition, although at
date of writing he is slightly im-
proved. Mr. Horton is in an
oxygen tent with three registered

The Women's Missionary So-
ciety met on Thursday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. T. Laing with
Ml's. Kenneth McKellar presiding.
The devotional part was taken by
Mrs. McKellar. Mrs. T. Scott con-
ducted the business and also read
the olecond chapter of the study
book, "'Meet the South A"mericans."
Mrs. Houghton gave the Glad Tid-
ings Prayer. Ml's. Lloyd Sorsdahl
read a very fine paper entitled,
"The Promises Of God." Ex-
pressions of sorrow in the sudden
passing of the late King George
VI and also sympathy for the be-
reaved members of the Royal fam-
ily were given in place of current
events. An interesting event at
this meeting was the presentation
of life membership certificates by
Mrs. R. Duncanson to Mrs. T. L.
Scott and Mrs. Lloyd Sorsdahl.
The Ladies' Aid Society met at
the close of the W.M.S. meeting
with Mrs. M. Houghton presiding.
Several items of business were
discussed. Redecorating and re-
pair work is being done in the'
basement of the church, also gowns
for the choir was the main topic
of the meeting. The meeting clos-
ed with the Lord's Prayer, Lunch
was served by the hostess.

Hospital, Seaforth. •

driving a truck with 13 passengers,
including several of his employees,
met with an ac ident at Arra.
,While driving on the highway, Mr.
Fink noticed a car near the cen-
tre of the road which had stalled
with a frozen gas line. A car was
approaching from tthe other direc-
tion,
irecttion, and to avoid crashing into
the back of the stalled .car, Mr.
Fink deliberately Took to the ditch,
with the result that the truck roll -

Gordon McGavin, McKillop Township farmer, has loaned, to
the Seaforth District High School, a 'tractor for use in the farm
mechanics classes. The students have taken it apart and are
