Heads Hensall Legion
A well -attended meeting of the
Hensall Branch of the Canadian
Legion was held Friday night in
the Legion Hall. The meeting was
in charge of President Byran Kyle.
Two minutes' silence was observed
for the late Majesty King George
VI, who was Grand Patron of the
British Empire Service League. It
was announced that a public ser-
vice will be held Friday, Feb. 15,
at 11 .a.m., in the Presbyterian
Church. Members of the Legion
and Auxiliary will attend. Mem-
bers are asked to meet, at the
Legion Hall at 10:45 a.m., dress
medals, decorations and berets to
be worn.

Hay Residents
Honoured
Neighbors and friends of Mr. and
Mrs. George 'Pinney, former well-
known and highly esteemed resi-
dents of Hay, who recently took up
residence in Exeter, gathered at
S.S. 10, Hay, Friday evening to
honor them with a presentation.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Pinney were present-
ed with an occasional chair, hon-
ors going to Ed. Corbett. Miss Shir-
ley Bell and Shirley Coleman pre-
sented cups and saucers to the two
daughters. Twelve 'tables were in
play for progressive euchre, and
the winners for the ladies were
Miss Norma Deitz, of Kippen, and
for the gents, Jack Faber, of Hen-
sall. Mr. William Hyde provided
violin music, and Mrs. E: Munn
accompanied at the piano for the.
dance.

$375,000, for which the Church of England is in debt. Already
more than a million dollars of the costs of the new buildings has
been sulbscribed by people in the Diocese.
204 Descendants Honor
Mrs. J. Bedard on Birthday

"Twelve children -413 grandchil-
dren — 99 great-grandchildren."
That's the total Mrs. Joseph Bedard
reaches when she adds up her
descendants.
Many of her children, grandchil-
dren and great-grandchildren were
on hand to congratulate Mrs. Bed-
ard recently, when she marked. her
88th birthday at the home of her
son, Joseph, with whom she re-
sides.
In good health, she still takes a
keen interest in the affairs of the
community at St. Joseph.
Of her 17 childreh. 11 boys and
six girls, 12 are still living. They
are: Mrs. Frank (Annie) Denomy,
Chatham; Mrs. Gilbert (Rachel)
Jeffry and Mrs. Laurene (Bea-
trice) Jeffry, Windsor; Sister Eu-
genie, of the teaching staff of the

Defeat Colborne 3-1
Hockey fans enjoyed a thrilling
game of hockey at the Arena Fri-
day, when Hensall Midgets defeat-
ed Colborne Township Midgets 3-1.
Hensall have won the first two of
the play-offs from Colborne in the

ager, is arranging for practices and
claims he will capture the Pee -Wee
title in Goderich this year.
WINTHROP
Tate W.M:S. and W.A. held their
regular meeting on Wednesday,
Feb. 6, in the schoolroom of the
church. The W.A. president, Mrs.
Sas. McClure, opened the meeting
with Hymn 311, "O Love That Will
Not Let Me Go." Psalm 111 was
read responsively, and prayer for
guidance was given in unison. The
W.M.S. presidents Mrs. Wm. Dodds,
took the next part of the meeting.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and adopted. The roll
call. a missionary and where sta-
tioned, was answered by 21 ladies.
Business items 'were discussed and
correspondence read. Mrs. G.
Smith gave a stewardship reading.
Hymn 507 was sung and a moment
of silent prayer followed for the
Royal family, after which Mrs.
Dodds offered prayer. The devo-
tional part was taken with Mrs. 4.
Cuthill as leader. Hymn 378,
"Rise Up, 0 Men of God," was
sung. The Scripture, John 4, vers-
es 7-21, were read by Mrs. Robt.
Dodds. The missionary program,
"Our Fellow -Canadians From Eur-
ope," taken from the study book,
From Lakes To Northern Lights
and Home Mission Digest, was giv-
en by Mrs. O. Cuthill, „Mrs. A. Alex-
ander, Mrs. G. Case •and Mrs. R.
McClure. Mrs. Livingstone, litera-
ture secretary, explained about
some of the authors and the books
they had written, and was much
enjoyed. Hymn 388 was sung and
prayer by Mrs. Cuthill. Circle 3
served lunch.

Juniors swamped the Seaforth
Junior Six 12-4. Coming from be-
hind in the first period, the Lon-
doners went on to push in four
goals- to take a one -goal lead over
the locals.
Jerry Dressel opened the scor-
ing with Ron Rennie and Jerry
Batson assisting. Nog Muir putt
the Seaforth Si•x 'in ;front, 2-0 by
Convert'ng Boyd's pass into a
marker. Whitey. Broome made it
3-0, but before the period ended
the London team took a 4-3 lead.
-Jerry Dressel tied the score at
the one -minute mark of the second
period, but the Lou Ball team,soon
overcame this score and took the
lead until the finish.
Ilan Salter starred for Seaforth
as' he kicj ed out 43 shots, 20 of
then) in the middle frame. Lon-
don outshot the visiting Seaforth
squad 53-28.

lines and fashioned with a Queen

Mr. Wright gave his daughter in
marriage.

Mary Wright, sister of the bride,
and Miss Marion Makins, of Bay-

bridesmaids. Miss Fagan was cos -
turned in pale green net over taf-
feta, while the bridesmaids were
attired in orchid net over taffeta.
