Seaforth, at 9:301a.m., of Kather-
ine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Laudenbeth, Seaforth, and Peter
Maynard Fitzgerald Preston, of
London, son of Major and Mrs. W.
F. A. Preston, also of London, Rev.
E. P. Weber, performed the mar-
riage ceremony, and Mrs. Stiles
presided et the organ. console and
"accompanied Miss Julia Flannigan,
when she sang "Ave Maria" and
1"Panis Angelicus." The church was
artistically arranged in Yellow
;chrysanthemums and red caena--
tiOns. The bride was , given... i.
marriage by her [alma' anti-eVae
lovely in a floor -length dress of
white lace and inserts of nylon net
with lace jacket made on Princess
style. She wore a Juliet cap and
lace veil, and carried red roses,
Miss Marion Laudenbacit, maid of
honor, wore a green lace gown made
on similar lines, and carried 3.e1-
low mums. Miss Betty Preston, as
bridesmaid, and sister of the
groom. wore a mauve gown made
identical with that of the maid of

mums. Mr. Joe Laudenbacb, in his
Royal Military- Colle.ge uniform,
was groomsman. Following the
ceremony a reception was held at
thee/lame of Mr. and Mrs. DavidMcLean, in Tuckersmith, where the

with yellow and pink mums and
holly. Mrs. Laudettbach received
with the bride, and wore an ashes
of roses crepe dress accentuated
with lace, and her corsage was blue

wore a beige crepe dress with wine
accessories and wore a yellcrw mum
cureages . During the afternoon
congratulatory cables were receiv-
ed from relatives of the groom from
London, England, and Sydney, Aus-
tralia, and a phone call from Mr.
and Mrs. , Straus, of 13reslau, Ont.
Mr. and Mrs. Preston left later,on
a trip to Toronto and other eastern
cities, and on bheir return will re-
side in Kingston. The bride trav-
elled in a black wool and taffeta
ensemble with fawn accessories,
Death of John Ballge.—"Me John
Bailee ,passed away on Wednesday,
Jan. 2, following an illness of long
duration. He was born in Germany
and was 74 years of age. His en-
tire life had been spent in farming
and at the time of his death he and
his wife, the former Margaret
Krauskopf, lived on the Huron Rd.
East. He was the son of the late
Mr, and Mrs. Peter Bailee, of Kit-
chener. The remains will rest a.t
his -late residence prior to 'service
in Ste Coin -Mbar' Church on Satur-
day at 9:30 a:are-when. Rev, .Tolin
McCowell will sang Requiem High
Mass; 'Interment will be in St. Col.
umban cemetery. -
Dies in Montreal—Edward P.
Lennon, former resident of McKil-
lop and Seaforth, passed away in
Montreal on Sunday, Dec. 30, foe
lowing a long illness. Mr. Lennon
was the son of theelate Mr, and
Mrs. Jamas Lennon, and was born
on the farm now occupied by Mr.
John Hillebrecht east of town, and
was 70 years of age. In his early
youth be was employed in the Wm.
Pickard Co. store here, and later
went to Calgary and then to Mon-
treal, where he was general man-
age -o1 the eastern office of the
Hudson's Bee Co. Surviving .are his
wife, the fernier Marion Kidd, of
Goderich, and two sons, Edward
and Peter, of Montreal. The fun-
eral was held in Montreal on Wed-
nesday", with interment in St.
Sames' Cemetery, Seaforth, on
Thursday.
Death of Mts. W. T. Thomnson,:-
The death took place irt Victoria
Hospital, London, Me Sunday, Dec.
WO, of ZMUla Masser, beloved wife
Of Witt. T. Thompson, Seaforth:
Mrs. Thompson was born In Allan -
town, Pa., and was in ther 74th
year. Married in 1907, she came
to •Seaforth in 1911. Surviving are
her husband and two datighters,
Mary, Mrs, Donald Hoggarth, Lon-
don, and Margaret, Mrs. P. V. Mil-
ler, of Albertus, Pa; also once broth-
er, Harry'Glaeser, of Catasaqua, Pa.
Deceased was a member pf First
Presbyterian Church. The funeral
took place from the Box Funeral
Home on Tuesday, at 2 p.m., with
Rev. D. Glenn Campbell conducting
the service. The pallbearers were
Jack Scott, Gordon Dick, W. R.
Smith, Sam Shinen, M. R. Rennie
and Willard Elliott. Interment was
in Maitlandbank cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Robert Boyd.—It
was with feelings of regret that
the friends and neighbors learned
of the passing on Wednesday of
Agnes Carnochan, widow of the
late Robert Bora in her 82nd year.
Mrs. Boyd had been, in failing
hehltla for the past two months,
.and had beet: in the hospital for a
few, weeks. Born in Tuckersmith
hi 1871, she had Ilya all her life
in this vicinity. Id 1905 she was
married in Egmondville Manse to
Mr. Boyd, mho passed away in 1943.
Surviving are a stepson, Ross A.
Boyd, Vancouver, B.C., two broth-
ers, John Carnochan, of Ethel, and
William Carnochan, of Linwood,
and a helf-brother, James Carno-
chan, Listowel, and three half-sis-
ters, Mrs. Hone,. Listawel; Mrs.
Mary GilleEthel, and Mrs. Wilson,
Burk's Palls. Deceased was a mem-
ber of Northside United Church.
Funeral services will be 'held Sat-
urday from the G. A. Whitney Fun-
eral Home at 2 p.m., withellev. D.
A. MacMillan conducting the ser-
vice. Interment will be in Maitland -
bank cemetery. ,0
Death of Mrs. Franklin Grieve._
Much regret was felt by the citi-
zens of Seaforth and district ,Sat-
urday on learning oOthe death in
Brantford of Lillian Maude Elliott,
wife of Frank C. Grieve, 'former
residents here, in her 36th year.
Mrs.Grieve. hadben in poor health
for .atxat two •years, and her ail-
ment gradually grew worse during
the past six months. Born at Yale.

sisters, Mrs. F. Heard, of Strat-
ford, and Mrs. John Ferguson, of
Sudbury, and four brothers, Harold,
Clayton and Roy, of Varna, and
Alvin, of Stratford. Mr. and Mrs.
Grieve lived here for several years
wherieMr. Grieve was caretaker of
the Lions Park. The remains rest-
ed at the G. A. Whitney funeral
home from Tuesday until Wednes-
day when they were taken to, St.,
John's Anglican Cherch, Varna.
where services were conducted by
Rev: Webb. The pallbearers were
Mr. Harding, Scott Habkirk, Lee
McConnell, Wilmer Reid, Arthur
Dutton and Gordon Elliott. Flowele
bearers were Ford Johnston, Geo.
Beatty, Wm. MeAsh, Lloyd John-
ston, A. Keys and Ernie fileClin-
chey. During the service F: E. Wil-
lis sang a solo, "God Hath Not
Promised." Interment wan in Bay-
field cemetery.
Death of Mrs. J. re O'Connell—
In St. Mary's Hospital, London, on
Tuesday, Jan. -i., Bertha M. Daly,
widow of the late James D. O'Con-
nell, passed away in her 77th year,
following an illness of some monthS
duration. Mrs. O'Connell was born
in Eginondviile, the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Daly, and
was married to Mr. O'Connell in
1901. Mr. O'Connell,• who passed
away in 1906, was deputy registrar
of Huron County at the tirde of his
death. An accomplished. musician,
Mrs. O'Connell was organist in St.
James' Church, Seaforth, and ia
churches iri Windsor and Detroit,
for many years. In 1923 he went
to Windsor to ,be with her family,
returning to Seaforth aye years
ago following the death of her
daughter, Miss Dorothy O'Connell.
Her family, Bertha, Louie, Dorothy
and James, all predeceased her, as
did a,brother, John la Daly, but she
is survived by two sisters, Mrs. F.
S. Sills, Seaforth, and -Mrs. Frank
Devereaux, of Tonto; also by
three grandchildren. A devoted
member of St. James' Catholic
Church, she was active in the so-
cieties of the church. The euneral
was held from the W. J. Cleary
funeral home on Thursday, at 9.15
a.m. to St. James' Ohurch, where
Requiems High Mass was sung by
Father E. P. Weber, followed by
interment in Si. James' cemetery.
The pallbearers were Edward Dev-
ereaux, J. F. Daly, Edmund Daly,
D'Orleon Sills, H. Enzensberger and
Joseph Dorsey.
