Garnet Whittiker are enjoying

While on a hunting expedition up
north at Larder Lake, Glenn Deitz
shot a 400 pound, bear,
Edgar McQueen has received
word of the death of his brother,
William Ernest McQueen, who died
in Vancouver on Oct. 15, after a
short illness.
The Late J. T. Reid
John T. Reid, London, in his
83rd year, died suddenly Saturday,
Oct. 13, in St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was the only son of the late
Samuel and Janet (Thompson)
Reid, of the 4th Concession, Stan-
ley Twp., and had been in failing
Health for the past four years.
Prior to moving to London in 1925
the late Mr. Reid was in business
'n Brucefield and Clinton. He was
a member of First St. Andrew's
United Church, London, also Cana-
dian Order of Foresters, the Inde-
pendent Order of Oddfellows, of
Brucefield, and Samaritan Lodge,
London. Surviving are his widow,
the former Maud Louisa Elliott; a
daughter, Mrs. A. L. (Pearl) Case,
of Hensall; a son, J. Eric Reid, of
London, and five sisters, Mrs. Sar-
ah Rothwell, Varna; Mrs. Annie
McNaughton, London; Mrs, Emma
McDonald, Hensall; Mrs. Margaret
Elliott, Victoria, B.C., and Mrs.
George (Mina) Foster, Windsor.
The funeral was held from the A.
Millard George Funeral Horne,
London, where Rev, Angus J. Mac-
Queen ,of Fast. St. Andrew's Unit-
ed Church officiated, assisted by
Rev. Ernest Grigg, London, Friend
the deeeased. Pallbearers were
Wilfred Chuter, Melvin Clarke.

tended the semi-annual W.A. Dio-

Mrs. J. Mcl3eath, who underwent
a major operation in Scott Memor-
ial Hospital, Seaforth, recently, is
recuperating at the home of her
son 'and daughter-in-law, Mr, and
Mrs. Alex McBeath, Kippen.

Death of W. A. Irvine
William A. Irvine, of -Tucker-
smith. passed away in London on
Sunday. Oct. 21, in his 71st year,
following an illness of over two
months, although he had been in
tailing health for some time. He
'•vas a native of Kirkcudbright.
Scotland, coming to Canada in
1909 and settling at Woodstock. He
came to this district in 1920, where
he farmed until 1947, and then re-
tired from active work. He was
n7arried,In Woodstock to Margaret
Gray ino 191x, who survives, to-
gether with two daughters, Mrs.
John J. Woods, Kippen, and Mrs.
A. G. White, Kingsville, and one
son, Alex Irvine, Kippen. Deceas-
ed was a member of Egmondville
l'nited Church. The funeral took
place on Tuesday afternoon from
the home of his son-in-law, Mr. J.
J. Woods, Tuckersmith, with Rev.
A. W. Gardiner conducting the ser-
vice. Interment was in Maitland -
bank cemetery, the pallbearers be-
ing Ivan Forsyth, Wm. Broadfoot,
Robt. Upshall, Stan Jackson, Chas.
Eyre and Arthur Finlayson. Flower
bearers were Bruce White, Robt
Dalrymple, Roy Hod'gert and ROY
Consitt.

health. She suffeered a stroke last
week. Her many friends wish her
a speedy recovery.

The Mission Band of Cromarty
Church entertained their mothers
and members 1of the W.M.S. Fri-
day evening in the basement of
the church at their regular meet-
ing. A skit was presented, emit•
led, "Lucy Baker, Missionary To
the Indians at Prince Albert."
Alice Sorsdahl gave a selection on
the guitar. Lunch was served by
the children. Mrs. Lloyd Sorsdahl,
Mrs. Duncanson and Mrs. Lloyd
Miller are leaders of the Mission
Band,

party in Mitchell Friday night.
