Luxton - Kirby wedding last Sat-
urday in Trivitt Memorial Church,

went an operation in S2. Joseph's

hospital Monday and is recuperat-
ing at the home of her daughter,

terior of the United Church re-
decorated ithis summer, and' which
presents a very fine appearance.
The walls and ceiling are decorat-
ed in shades of gray, trimmed with
blue and gold. Gothic lantern lights
present a very attractive appear-
ance. The choir were in new
gowns of wine shade which they
wore for the first time on Sunday
morning at the reopening service.
The cost of the interior decorating
and lights will be $3,000. Mr. EI -
mer Wilkinson, of Wingham, was
in charge of the decorating, and,
the lights were installed by Mr. J.
Passmore. The exterior of the
church is in process of redecora-
tion and new cement walks have
been laid. The cross on the Com-
munion table, cast from the metal
contained in the old light fixtures,
was a gift from a member of the
congregation.
A crowd of over one thousand
people attended the monster bingo
held in the Community Arena on
Monday night, sponsored by the
Hensall Branch of the Canadian
Legion and Ladies' Auxiliary. Jack
Tudor was master of ceremonies,
assisted by several of the Legion
members. For the $500 jackpot,
three were tied: Mrs. Wm. Lee,
Hensall; Bruce Moir, Hensall, and
Andrew Rau, Zurich, and each re-
ceived $167. Special prize winners
were: $150, Ivan Querengesser,
Brodhagen; $75, Sam Ronnie, Hen-
sall; $50, R. J. Cooper, Kippen.
Fifteen rounds were played at
$15 eaoh, the winners being: Mrs.
Boltson, St. Thomas, and G. Grigg,
Clinton (tied); Miss Gladys Luker,
Hensall; Sam Ronnie, Hensall;

NORTH McKILLOP
Henry Koehler, lifelong resident
of McKillop Township, died early
Tuesday morning at Scott Memor-
ial Hospital, Seafiorth, where he
had .been a patient for the past
five weeks. Had he lived, he would
have been '82 years old on Wed-
nesday. He had lived all his life
on his present farm, concession 8,
lot 3, McKillop, a mile and a half
west of Brodhagen. He is survived
by his wife, the former Katie
Regele; four daughters and one
son; also several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Funeral
services were held on Thursday
and were conducted by the Rev.
Howard Brox, of Sebringville. Pall
bearers were Norman Beuermann,
Leslie Beuermann, Fergus Horan,
Jerry Doerr, Harry Regele and
Charles Eggert.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Caldwell, also
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Caldwell, re-
turned home from spending a few
days in Collingwood.
Dr. James Jarrott, of New York,
and Dr. Gilbert Jarrott, of Strat-
ford, returned to their homes af-
ter vacationing with their mother,
Mrs. Catharine Jarrott.
Mr. John Wagner, of Guelph,
visited a few days with his sister,
Mrs. McClymont.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Butt spent
a day in Flint, Mich., recently.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Green, of

guests of Mr. Jonah Green.
Mr. Ivan Forsyth left by bus for
a month's vacation in the West.
Mrs. Wilfred Mellis ' had her
mother, Mrs. Gibson, and two
brothers, of Wroxeter, to visit her
and Wilfred on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Little and fam-
'1y, of Ilderton, are moving into the
Jarrott house on No. 4 Highway.
Mr. Ross McKay and his daugh-
ter, June, spent the past week -end
with his sinter and brother, Miss
Margaret and Mr. Oliver McKay.
We regret reporting Mr. Charles
McKay being confined to Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, a few
days.
Mr. Norman Jones and Mr. Allan
Cochrane, of Hensall, are at pres-
ent remodelling Mr. Wilfred Mel-
lis's home.

two granddaughters from London
call on them last Sunday.

London Fair this week, and also
the Toronto Exhibition.
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Workman,
Death of George H. Stephenson.
—The death took place suddenly
on Wednesday in Clinton Public
Hospital of a well-known former
citizen in 'the person of George H.
Stephenson, in his 70th year, fol-
lowing ar stroke which he suffered
on Sunday. He was born in Stan-
ley Township and was married to
Miss Ida McIntosh, who survives,
together with a family of three
sons: Stafford and Clarence, of
Woodstock; Charles, of Toronto.,
and three daughters, Verna, Lon-
don; Anna, California, and Eliza-
beth, Ingersoll. Also surviving are
one sister, Mrs. John Dowson, Var-
na, and two brothers, Norma Steph-
enson, of Varna, and, David, Strat-
ford, Mr. Stephenson was a farm-
er and served in World War I,
when be suffered the loss of an
arm. He was a member of the
Anglican Church and the Canadiar
Legion. The funeral will be held
Friday afternoon from the Box
Funeral "Horde, with Rev. G. H.
Webb, of Bayfield, officiating. The
services will be under the auspices
of the Seaforth Branch of the Can-
adian Legion, No. 156, and inter -
fent will be in Maitlandbank Ce,111e-
tery.
