The
ea—The August meeting of the Bar-
bara Kirkman Auxiliary was held
at the home of Mrs. James F.
Scott, Thornton Hall, Tuesday eve-
ning when there were about forty
present. Mrs. H. R. Scott presid-
ed- and opened the meeting with
prayer. The secretary read a let-
ter of appreciation and the min-
utes, Mrs. 3. E. Daley reminded
the group of the holiday wheels to
have, the dimes on them by the
November meeting. Mrs. J. J
Sclater reported for the Home
Helpers. Mrs. E. A. McMaster pre-
sided for the devotional period
when the Scripture lesson was
read by Mrs. L. Hemberger from
the 106th Psalm. Mrs. McMaster
reminded the meeting of a tea to
be held at her home on Sept. 27.
Miss A. M. Toll, of Blyth, gave a
splendid talk on the art of living
and keeping the Sabbath Day as a
day for Worship and rest, instead
of a day for sport and fun. Miss
Belle Campbell moved a vote of
thanks to the speaker. Following
the address a hymn was sung with
Mrs. J. A. Munn at the piano. Mrs.
Christensen, a Danish lady and a
newcomer to Canada, very kindly
passed Danish pastry to the guests
which was enjoyed by all. After
a social hour the meeting ad-
journed.

pointed cuffs falling over the
hands. She carried a shower bou-
quet of red roses with long stream-
ers, which were knotted with tiny
buds. Her long veil was white em-
broidered net with satin applique.
Mrs. Douglas Allen, Toronto, sis-
ter of the groom, was matron of
honor, wearing gold satin brocade
with matching mittens and head-
dress of gold brocade flowers. She
carried a bouquet of Talisman ros-
es with gold satin streamers. Miss
Carol Chesney was her sister's
bridesmaid, wearing orehid net
over taffeta fashioned with strap
less :fitted bodice of taffeta with
short bolero and full net skirt, an
orchid taffeta floral headdress and
mittens completed her costume,
and she carried a bouquet of yel-
low roses with yellow satin stream-
ers. Mr. Douglas Allen, Toronto,
I was best man, and Mr. Grant
Chesney, Seaforth, and John Camp -
lin, Beeton, were ushers. Follow-
ing the ceremony a reception was
held at the bride's home, "Ruscoe
Farm,” which was decorated with
multi -colored gladioli. The bride's
mother received' wearing keepsake
blue crepe with black accessories
,and corsage of Better Time roses.
'Mrs. Dewar assisted, wearing a
navy redingote over navy printed
silk with navy accessories and cor-
sage of Better Time roses. Those
serving the guests were Miss
'Patricia. Brugger, Seaforth, and
Miss Marion Rose, Beeton. For
travelling the bride chose a wine,
turquoise and gray plaid three-
piece suit with wine suede acces-
sories. After a trip to Detroit
and the Central States, Mr. and
'Mrs. Dewar will reside in Sea -
forth.

Former Resident Dies in Sarnia,
-Mrs. Agues S. Bristow, 78, wife.,
of William H. Bristow, of 117
James St., Sarnia, who- died at her
home Thursday, came to Canada
from England. She resided in Sea -
forth for more than 30 years be-
fore going to Sarnia in 1928. She
was all active member there of
Devine Street United Church. Sur-
viving besides her husban,d are
one daughter, Mrs. Harry Eyre,t
Sarnia; three sons, Dr. Russell W.
Bristow, Detroit; C. L. Bristow,
Royal Oak, Michigan, and Dr. J.
H. Bristow, Las Vegas, Nevada;
one brother, Albert Deem, King-
ston, and four grandchildren. Fun-
eral services were conducted Sat-
urday afternoon and interment
made in Lakeview cemetery.

Mother Dies in Bornholm.—
Death came, suddenly Monday ev-
ening, August 20, to 'Mrs. Daniel
Schneider at her home at Born-
holm, and was attributed to a
heart ailment. She had been in
apparent good health until that
morning_ Born Elizabeth Lydia
Geil on December 24, 1882, in the
Township of Minto, near Clifford,
in Wellington County, she was the
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
John M. Geil (Rebecca Yandt) and
had resided in Bornholm since her
marriage on May 24, 1905, where
her .husband operated the Born-
holm cider and apple butter mill
for more than fitty years. He pre-
deceased his wife on April 1, 1940.
The late Mrs. Schneider was a
member of Willow Grove United
Church, of the Ladies' Aid, and of
the choir for many years. Surviv
rug are -four sons: Clarence, Elm-
wood; Norman, Seaforth; Lawr
mice, Stratford, and Gordon, on
the home place; two daughters
Mrs. Robert (Myrtle) French, Log
an Twp.; and Mrs. Fred (Irene)
Kistner,. Brodhagen; six brothers
George E., Bornholm; Henry, Clif
ford; David, Detroit; Simon, Mani
toba; Charles and Noah, Kitchen
er; one sister, Mrs. Victor (Sarah)
Goebel, Hespeler, and 11 grand
children. The body rested at the
Heath Funeral Home, Mitchell
where service was held Thursday
at 2.30 p.m., with interment in
Woodland cemetery, Mitchell.
