ceived first aid at the office of Dr.

where X-rays revealed an injured
knee. He is doing as well as can
be expected. .

at Victoria Hospital, London, is
spending a ten-day vacation with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. E.

Miss Elizabeth Schaefer, Palmer-
ston, who is attending Toronto
University, recently visited at the
Scott residence. Miss Schaefer is a
great-niece of the Scott sisters.
Three hundred employees of the
Comstock Co. were in Hensall this
week for the hydro changeover
from 25 to 60 cycles. The village
was a lively centre with 200 trucks
flitting around. For the conveni-
ence of customers of Hensall Hy-
dro Commission, a mobile clock
and fan depot was set up on Main
St. between the Town Hall and
Twitchell'; Garage. The changeov-
er was completed Thursday.
Three appendix cases in three
days were reported at Hensall Pub-
lic School. J. F. Blackwell, prin-
cipal, was operated on in Clinton
Hospital Tuesday last; Billy
Brown, 9; son of Mr. and Mrs.
WinL Brown, Grade 3, was next. He
was operated on Thursday after-
noon at Clinton Hospital. Mar-
garet Smith, 10, twin daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Smith, pupil
of Grade 4, was taken to Victoria
Hospital, London, Thursday after-
noon and underwent an operation.
Dr. J. C. Goddard attended Mr.
Blackwell and Billy Brown, 'while
Dr. Gibson, of London, attended
Margaret Smith. °All three patients
are progressing nicely.
The choir of the United Church
is planning for a strawberry fes
tival to be held on the church lawn
some time in June. Committees

roderick, Mrs. Roobol, Jim Rowcliffe,
Jack Harrison, Ron Mock and Bill
Mickle.
Girl Guides Attend Picnic
One hundred 'and seventy-five
Guides and their leaders from Hur-
on -Perth attended the Girl Guides'
picnic held at Keewaydin, 18 miles
north of Goderiah, on Saturday.
Guides from St. Marys, Stratford,
Listowel, Ingersoll, Brussels, Blyth,
Goderich, Exeter and Hensall at-
tended. St. Marys won the Divi-
sional Shield for efficiency in guid-
ing and sports and for the most
competitive group. Sports and
contests were run off, such as fire -
lighting, ball throwing, compass
and signalling contests In the
three-legged race, Jean Lavender
and Margaret Reid, of Hensall,
were in second place, and Jean
Lavender was third in the 100 -yard
dash. The affair concluded with a
camp fire and taps, songs and pro-
gram. July 17 the Guides will go
to camp at Keewaydin.
Personal income and income of
corporations have gone up in the
same proportion since 1939. Both
have been multiplied by three.

in Trinity Anglican Church Sunday
morning last when Bisihop W. T.
Hallam, Assistant Bishop of Hur-
on, conducted the order of confir-
mation. Eight candidates were con-
firmed: Mrs. Ernest Hovey, Mrs.
Jas. Cameron, Beverley Heard,
Francis Webb, J. Brown Higgins,
Jimmie Higgins, Glenn Sturgeon,
all of the parish of Trinity, Bay-

Tuesday evening the choir of
Duff's Church met at the manse to
honor the minister, Rev. R. G.
Hazlewood, who is leaving shortly
for Mount Forest, and also Miss
Shirley Bennett, bride -elect of this
month. Mrs. H. Brown, choir lead-
er, presented Rev. Mr. Hazlewood
with a pair of gold cuff links and
Mrs. Hazlewood with a silver
cream and sugar and a tray. Miss
Corrie Van Vleit and Marg. Mc-
Arthur presented Miss Bennett
with a silver pickle dish and salt
and pepper sets. They each made
suitable replies, after which lunch
was served.

The annual decoration service of
the I O.O.F, will be held at Baird's
cemetery on Sunday afternoon,
June 10, at 2:30 p.m.
Service Last Sunday evening was
in charge of the C.G.I.T. The male
choir, under the direction of Rev.
Stanway, provided special music.
The Women's Association of
Brucefield United Church met on
Tuesday with the Egmondville Wo-
men's Association and Stanley
Ladies' Club as guests. The meet-
ing opened with Hymn No. 500.
Mrs. B. Keyes read the Scripture

Ten Virgins." Hymn No. 488 was
then sung. Mrs. G. Elliott welcom-
ed the visitors. Mrs. A. Johnston
and Mrs. W. McBeath gave an or-
gan duet; Mrs. Classon gave a
piano solo, and Mrs. Durst, of Eg-,
mondvilie, sang a solo. A reading
entitled, "Eighty Years Ago," was
given by Mrs. Glen Broadfoot, of
Stanley. Mrs. J. Murdoch gave a
piano solo. A quartette composed
of Mrs. J. Broadfoot, Mrs. G. Rich-
ardson, Mrs. G. Henderson and
Mrs. W. McBeath, was followed by
a piano solo by Mrs. Classen, A
trio composed of Mrs. McBeath at
the piano, Mrs. Johnston alt the
organ and Miss Eva Stackhouse on
the piano, completed the program,
after which lunch was served.

Nash, and Mr. Nash, who have
