Sinclair. The Christmas program
was followed by the president, Mrs,
Workman. Mlle worship was in
charge of Mrs. A. Parsons, _Mrs.
Workman gave a short readin, af-
ter which the candle lighting ser-
vice took place. Candle No. 1 for
`Joy' was lit by Mrs. H. Caldwell,
after which the hymn, "Joy To the
World," was sung. .Candle No. 2
for 'Love' was lit by Mrs, J. Sin-
clair and the hymn, "Come, Let Us
Sing Of a Wonderful Love" was
sung. Candle No. 3 for 'Christ, the
Light of the World,' was lit by
Mrs. R. Elgie, after which the
hymn, "The Race That Long in
Darkness Pined" was sung. Can-
dle No. 4 for 'Peace' was lit by
Mrs. T. Kay, and the hymn, "It
Came Upon • the Midnight Clear"
was sung. Candle No. 5 for 'Hope'
was lit by Mrs, W. Caldwell and

Mre. E. McBride reported for the
visiting •committee, and Mrs. R.
MacGregor and Mrs, J. McLellan
were appointed a visiting commit-
tee for next month. The flower
committee for the church are Mrs.
W. Bell and Mrs. D. Cooper. It was
decided to add; four members to
Circle No. 2, two members from
Circle No. 1, namely, Mrs. John-
son
ohnson and Mrs. Peck, and from Cir-
cle No. 3, Mrs. J. McLellan and
Mrs. R, 1ViacGregor,. A lovely vo-
cal duet, "The Bells Are Ringing"
was sung by Mrs. George Heas and
Mrs, T. Coates, accompanied, by
Mrs. T. Sherritt, all of Hensall. A
Christmas story was given by Mrs.
J. Anderson when she told of how
Christmas was celebrated in the
different countries. Hymn No: 50
was sung and Mrs. Workman clos-
ed the meeting with the benedic-
tion. Lunch was served by Circle
No. 2. The slate of officers was
presented by the nominating com-
mittee

COUNTYBURSARIES
Huron County Bursaries have
been awarded to the following etu
dents at the University of Western
Ontario: Margaret Colquhoun, Clin-
ton; Alice A. Laidlaw, Wingham;
J. Grant Mills, Woodham; Ronald
C. Sills, Seaforth; John Graham
Wlallace, ,Seaforth.
These scholarships are ayvarded
annually to Huron County students
on the record of the previous year.
The committee appointed by the
Huron County Council to make
these awards is Warden Cecil John-
ston, Miss Helen Allison, Regis-
trar, University of Western On,
tario, and J. H. Kinkead, Inspector
of Schools.
Rebekah Lodge
Has Successful
'Pea, Baking Sale
The I,O.O.F, Hall was gaily dec-
orated with Sr twigs and miniture
Christmas trees for the annual
home -baking sale and afternoon tea
which Edelweiss Rebekah Lodge
sponsored on Saturday afternoon
The tables were bright with color-
ed glass decorations and red tapers
Mrs. J. C..Stevens, convener, and
Mrs. Foster Bennett, Mrs. Albert
Harrison, Miss Margaret Moore,
Mrs. Wilfred Cameron and Mrs. J.
T. Kaiser served a most delicious
tea. Mrs. H. E. Smith poured from
a lovely tea table, and Miss Mae
Smith, Miss Jean Scott and Mrs.
Leslie McClure sold home-made
candy. Mrs. Mae Dorrance, Mrs.
Alex Boyes, Mrs. N. R. Dorranee
and Mrs, Andrew Moore were in
charge of the home baking sale.
Thedraw on a quilt was made
by Elizabeth Habkirk, the winner
being Mrs. 'Charette, of Seaforth.
A pair of hand -made pillow cases
went to Donna Irwin, of Timmins.
Thedraw proceeds amounted to
$100, while the tea proceeds were
al proximately $60. The money is
to help refurnish the lodge kitchen.
WINCHELSEA
Mrs. May Delbridge, Jack and
Betty, of St. Marys, and Ray Suth-
erland, of Uniondale, were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert
Batten.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Elwyn Kerslake were Mr.
and Mrs. Russell King and Wayne,
of Crediton.
A well -digging outfit has set up
on land near the creamery, hoping
to find a vein strong enough to
supply Centralia Airport. At time
of writing, nothing had been found
of value.
Mr. and Mrs, George Kellett
spent last Thursday evening with
Mr. and Mrs. Jahn Batten.

Mrs. Dinsdale has returned home
after spending some time with ther

last for Grand Rapids, Mich., where
they intend spending the winter
months with her son, Mr. John
Doig.
We are happy to learn Mr. Jonah
Green is able to sit up in bed.

of London, were visitors at the
home of their parents.
Mrs. Wm. C. Burrage, of Pass-
adena, California, is the guest of
her sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Long.
Mrs. McConachie, of Toronto,
spent the week -end with her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Frank McConachie. Patricia re-
turned with her grandmother for a
visit. °
Miss LeolaWolfe and Mr. Jim
Lawrence, of Melbourne, spent the
week -end with Mr, and Mrs. Deick-
ert and Meryl.
Mr. Robert McLean has return-
ed home from Clinton Hospital
much improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer MacGregor
have left this village to take- up
residence in Goderich. Mr. Keith
McLean, of Hensall, has purchased
Mr. MacGregor's large truck, while

Mr. and Mrs. McGregor success and
happiness in their new home.
Mr. Donald Bell, of the O.A.C.,
Guelph, visited recently at his
home here.

the funeral of the late Mrs. Pass-
more and Mrs. McKaig in Hensall

last week to spend the i winter
months with relatives in Peter-
borough and Toronto.
Mrs, R. M. Peck, who, has +been
confined to Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, with a fractured hip, return-
ed to her home here last week and
at 'date of writing is progressing
favorably. ,
The teachers and, ,pupils of S.S.
No. 2,. Tuckersmith, are holding
their Christmas concert in the
schoolhouse on Saturday evening,
Dec. 16, at •8 p.m.
The Sunday School will hold
their Christmas concert on Mon-
day evening, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m.
Mr. Ernie Whitehouse has re-
turned home after being in the hos-
pital the past two weeks.
We are pleased to report that
Mrs. Bert Peck returned home
from the hospital a week ago.

more, recently deceased members,
were placed by members, of the re-
spective families. At the evening
service the minister used as his
theme, "Let Your Light So Shine."
