The December meeting, which is
the ,Ohris.tmas mseetiing, was dils-
cussed and the members are asked
to take to the Meeting a email gift
not exceeding HiQ' cents in value, for
an exchange among the members.
The collection will be for the Gode-
rich Children's Aid.
The secretary, Mrs. R. Chapman,
read a letter concerning the short
course on Work Shop and Home
Crafts. A thank -you letter was
read from Mrs. Harry Caldwell for
the privilege of being allowed to
enjoy the bus trip to Toronto, and
the Institute gratefully acknowledg-
ed a donation of five dollars from
Mrs. Caldwell for funds. A letter
of appreciation from the Broadfoot
family was read.
The members regret very much
the unfortunate accident suffered
by Mrs. Peck, and hope it will not
be too long before she is able to
meet with us again.
Mrs. Willsmith, from Exeter,
gave a very interesting talk on the
history of china and pottery. She
displayed throughout her talk some
lovely pieces, and she warned, that
each take care of her own cherish-
ed pieces and not to burden any-
one ease with its care. She told the
eery beautiful story behind the
Blue Willow pattern and concluded
her talk with a humorous verse.
A vocal duet by Mrs. Jones and
Mrs. Gackstetter was much enjoy-
ed. A quiz, "Who's 'Who in Can-
ada." was conducted by Mrs. Alex-
ander.

to the ladles. He was much ap-
preciated. A report from the dis-
trict director, Mrs. C. Eyre, was
given on the meeting at Crediton
on Nov. 22,
A vote of thanks to the speakers
and: those taking part was moved
by Miss Margaret .McKay and to
the hostess by Mrs. W. McLean.
The meeting closed with "God Save
the King." A delicious. lunch was
served by the hostess and her com-
mittee.

Mr. and 'Mrs. Borden Brown and
daughters, Joyce and Elaine, were
recent guests to dinner with the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Brown, at Allan Park, and
to supper with Mrs. Brown's sister,
Mrs. George Campbell and lir.
Campbell.
The W.M.S. of. Constance 'Unit-
ed Church held their Christmas
concert on Wednesday, when an
entertaining program was present-
ed..

held in the council chamber on
Saturday, Dec. 2, by the W.A. and
Girls' Club of Ontario St. 'Church.
The home baking booth, under the

of the apron booth, where a good-
ly sum was realized. Mrs. D. Free-
man, Mrs. Murch and Mrs. Olde
were in charge of the home-made
candy booth, where over $40 was
realized from the sale of good
Christmas candy. The tea room
was ably looked after by Mrs. J.
Radford and her committee. Sand-
wiches, cookies and tea were serv-
ed to afternoon tea guests. Fancy
work, knitted goods, dolls, teddy
bears and quilts were under the
direction of Mrs. W. S. R. Holmes
and Miss L. Grant. This is the
last achievement for the year and
was a decided success in all
phases.
The W.A. held its December
meeting in the church hall on
Tuesday, when the new slate of of-
ficers was brought in and other
business for the year wound up.
Master Brian Gibbings, of Strat-
ford, and Miss M. Gibbings, of
Dundas, spent the week -end at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Gib-
bings.
Mr. E. J. Jenkins, of Ottawa, and,
Dr. George Jenkins, of London,
were callers on the former's broth-
er, Mr. Rees Jenkins, and other rel-
atives on Saturday last.
Mr. and. Mrs. Engel, of Michigan,
have returned to 'Clinton for the
winter months.
Two very inspiring missionary
sermons were preached in Ontario
St. Church on Sunday, Dec. 3. In
the morning Miss Sybil .Courtice,
returned missionary from Japan
and author of the W.M.S. study
book, "The Church °Re-enters Ja-
pan," spoke from Genesis 11:1. In
the evening Rev. S. Brenton, of
Londesboro, delivered a 'wonderful
sermon on Christian Strategy from
Ezekiel 2:1: "Stand upon thy
feet and I will speak unto thee."
EGMONDVILLE
Miss Minnie Proctor has sold her
house and lot on Main St. to Mr.
Mervyn Nott, who gets immediate
-possession. Miss Proctor has mov-
ed to Clinton.
Mr. Roy McMane has disposed of
his property to Mr. Thomas Ad-
adms, who gets possession March
1, 1951. Mr. McMane has not de-
cided where he .will locate.
Mr. and Mrs. James Finlayson
have moved into their new home
across from the church. We wel-
come theta and wish them many
years of comfort and happiness in
their new home.
Miss 'Mayme Watson, Reg.N., of
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
spent the week -end with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Watson.

At an executive meeting of the
Sunday School teachers and offi-
cers of the United Church, beid
Monday night, Dec. 4, at the home
of Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Rogers,
Christmas plans were discussed.

sisted ,by Mr. Jack Corbett, super-
intendent, do .Sunday morning,
Dec. 17, during the Sunday School
session, starting at 10 a.m., a mis-
sionary film will be presented.

The many friends of Mrs. Mary
McKaig, prominent resident, will
regret to learn suffered a fall down
the cellar steps on Sunday morn-
ing. When found she was uncon-
scious and at date of writing is
still unconscious, Her sister, who
has been an invalid for years, went
to the tonie of Mrs. Inez McEwan
for assistance, and medical aid was
secured. Her daughter, Mrs. Chas,
Salter, of Wingliam, is with her.
